Any VN recommendations that will run on my specs
Okarin replied to Yui Gahama's topic in Recommendations
Why don't you get a recent VN, say, from 2014 on, and test it? That will give you an idea of the VNs you can run. Yes, VN are VERY light, you can see requirements on Steam. Lots of them were designed for XP and Vista. Some have received HD upgrades though and have bigger requirements. -
YAAAAAAAAY! "We're all heroes, Boo, you and me. Rangers and hamsters rejoice everywhere." --Minsc (the wording may be a bit off)

You boycotting Sekai Project's Humble Bundle? Starless may be... tasteless , but to people who are keen on BDSM and have a strong stomach, it can work. Worst VN I tried was W. C. and that is really "piss"-poor. One indication could be when many people considered a given VN to be really bad. If I don't like piss, I won't like games with pissing scenes, while others could dig them. Naturally. Oh, and "Eroge" could be a decent runner-up, though I never cared to actually read it, just jumped to the H scenes and well, they weren't really awesome. And Sakura games, though this may be too harsh; they're just not special games in any way, they're just mass-produced filler.

Hoshimemo and, if you tolerate oldies, Shuffle! is pretty good (minus the translation which is trash), it has less sex scenes and some interesting, though not stellar, routes. Also the protag is above par and he's not as shameless as to screw the girls before the routes (a trait that's unique for YMK and its lot. They tried to pack a lot of H in a medium-length novel there).

What's your favorite visual novels company

Disclaimer: I have read 30-odd novels. 1. Key 2. Overdrive 3. Mages 4. Anything that strikes my fancy -
Someone please help me compile this program.
Okarin replied to dineth lochana's topic in General Discussion
Dependencies... I think you need to link the program with the libraries and any needed files. Try every possible route to the files. Can't help further than that though. -
Anime goes in fad cycles. What was popular in 2007 may not be as popular in 2017. You might be a hardcore otaku, and not like what other people like in the least. Because there are dozens of anime each year. VNs are more stable, there are still different genres and tastes but the concept of a community for English-speaking fans of VNs is a staying one. Also, there are fewer VN releases in English each year than there are dubbed/subbed anime, so in a way it's easier to follow.

Not me, to be sure. About Vita... the former were Sony's words, not mine. They complained smartphones drew away the attention from it (that still doesn't explain the 3DS' success, right?). Anyway, even though the Vita is a niche console and still receives games, it can be well considered a pretty big commercial failure. Not as bad as the Wii U, but up there.

What Funyarinpa says. How to get to a new forum? 1. Choose the theme of the forum. 2. Search for forums matching those criteria. In my case, I noticed the existence of Fuwa downloading VNs (back when Fuwa carried them), and looking for VN auto-translation. You can quickly look for forums with a given theme with Tapatalk (on Android). However the forums' role has been taken over by social networks. Facebook, Google+ and Twitter are good places to meet interesting people and see what they like. In my case, I've not made a lot of friends on FB (since most people are reluctant to add you without knowing you), but with most people I meet IRL, I put them there, just in case. I primarily use Facebook to keep in touch with releases (VN companies, JRPG companies, localisation companies, music bands, wargames) and news (soccer teams, etc).

Hmmm... I guess you're confusing 5pb with Nitroplus. Nitroplus publishes 5pb's sci-adv series, but that's just it. They have published works like Saya no Uta (according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nitroplus), and money-makers like Sonicomi and Psycho-Pass, one for the moe and the other for its popularity. Besides, Nitroplus adapts its major works to anime.

VNDB, man. https://vndb.org/v17742/chars#chars The girls marked as "main characters" will have a route each. Unfortunately, you can't spoil the H content much since this game's sheet lacks information.

The only caveat is that you need a good number of seeders (people that share the file).

Surely you can find a Zelda game's torrent. Torrents are known to download more smoothly than direct downloads via HTTP (i. e. the browser).

Use a torrent?

I'm sure it's better than Shuffle's TL

There have been "anime-themed games" since the 80s. Visual novels came around later, but Japanese have been making this kind of games for a long time. Only that the art with 8-bit technology was very poor, and most of them never came out of Japan (probably the Japanese, foolishly, thought no one but them had an interest in them). The explosion may have been in the times of the Sega Saturn, with all those adventure games featuring anime cutscenes.

There's no use thinking about death, like there's no use thinking about a nuclear holocaust. The risk is there. It just isn't something that should occupy our daily thoughts much. Is it scary to think that when we die it's over for good? I personally think it's scarier to live forever. This has been touched upon by a lot of works. There are a lot of books discussing the afterlife and life's meaning, including some naturalist/monist views, like Greg Graffin's (on his books "Anarchy Evolution" and "Population Wars"). Like I explain every time with this discussion, death is biologically necessary. Individuals die so that others may live. Furthermore, evolution happens and creates new forms of life and a perfected DNA pool. In your case, you should just focus on doing the things you like for the moment. Avoid stress. Let people know how you feel. Let time pass. Surely you'll move on and grow stronger for it. Also, don't leave smiling and enjoying for tomorrow! Do it now! Otherwise you're wasting the moment. This is a beautiful song about missing the loved ones:

Little Busters has pretty good drama, but you may not like all of it (and it's okay). ef has a lot of drama, including a character with self-esteem issues (her bad ending hits very hard), a character with bad health and an abused character. Steins;Gate is good because it mixes laughs with drama deftly. The tone is more serious than normal.

Dies irae is delayed, so let's play the release date guessing game!
Okarin replied to Decay's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Every single localised VN I get works on Western locales. Why would they screw up in this one. Lately localisation hasn't been up to par. -

Well on Steam, with two parts, you get double the reduced cost on a sale. If you can wait until it's on sale, that is. -

Why is there a "never" option?!
