Fuwa VN Reading Club: April - Deardrops
Okarin replied to Fred the Barber's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Do you know what a gonad is? -
I in turn learned of them from a friend. And man, is it a great invention. Discuss with your ophtalmologist and if you get to try them, tell us if it improved your fatigue or not
-
Sadly no, they're called "anti-reflection" crystals here ("cristales antirreflejo") and they cost extra over the base price. Just ask your local ophtalmologist about "glasses that decrease eye stress when using computers" and they should know.

Put your own rank, it will be flashier. I infer you could sleep eventually. That's good. But sleep is "trained". You need to keep a strict routine and everything will work OK. Your body knows when it's bed time... unless you're changing it constantly. Also for long PC sessions I recommend glasses with special crystals, even if your sight is good. These crystals reduce eye and mental fatigue. I can pull up long sessions with no problem. Besides, every 2 hours you should rest like 10 minutes or so, the actual numbers are elsewhere and have changed over time.

As much as I practise yoga and acknowledge its benefits (it has helped me sleep more soundly and effectively), I recommend... regular science. NOT mad science. Go see a doctor ASAP and maybe take some medication if it's a severe case, it will work (since it's science), don't be afraid of taking it. I know we're approaching the weekend but tomorrow is Friday and you could get an appointment. I don't know the details -if it was just this past night you couldn't sleep, you might as well try some relaxation, for example with those yoga tips from earlier. If it's an extended problem, go see the doc. Also it has to have a definite cause -stress, depression, nervousness, you name it. If you're willing to hear us on the case, please provide as much info as you can.

Has this ever happened to you when playing a VN?

[Daru mode:] Hmmm... fantasizing with teachers is also very moe... -

I think that being shy (both sides) in a first date at 16 is pretty normal. Sex can happen on a first date, but at 16? Come on. Maybe in Brave New World. This is one of the famous instances of fan-pandering and fantasy-appealing commonly found in eroge. Take it or leave it. -
Wait... so... ohhh... ahem. It's good you're enjoying your time here on Fuwa, Kurisu (is this what you call... negative logic?)
-
Even if you only ever read Steins;Gate spinoffs, or the rest of Mages stuff, we'll save your place. Just like Okabe told Kurisu that Lab Member no. 004 would be saved. I don't quite think that you need to be fully immersed in the VN world to enjoy VNs. If it's one a year, then it's one a year. We understand that you have stuff to do. However, if you feel your time with VNs has passed, we'll also understand. But I think that can't be, as you greatly enjoyed Steins;Gate and then Steins;Gate Zero. Who knows if there will be awesome VNs like those in the future? If you ever feel like coming back, or if you feel like not departing, we're right here for all your needs.

Is translated Comyu worth reading?
Okarin replied to Guilty of Seeing Red's topic in Recommendations
I know little, but because of direct inheritance, Australian English in form, resembles more British English and less American English. But it's a kind of its own. Of course, the ties between Australia and Britain are far stronger than between the USA and it. Australia remains a part of the Commonwealth and never separated from Britain. Also, it's possible that Americans tried to separate their brand of English from the original as much as possible, or maybe it was just natural separate evolution. -

Wait, Hoshimemo had issues? To be honest while reading it I kept wondering if the translator was Australian or something. (Because of location, I know little of Australian English so, in short, I found it strange) Also with the in-game half-Aussie heroine, it'd been neat -
Limerence, try Sepia Tears if you haven't.
-
Why wouldn't the whole games be in the Vita game card? That sounds suspiciously like scam. You can't sell an incomplete product -aside from patches and DLCs.

Like Marquis de Sade proves, repeatedly indulging on a given fetish takes your mind away from everything else. Depends. I don't know if it's so bad for you that you can't derive pleasure from anything else. That's a real problem. Also chastising your gf because she would cheat on you while you indulge in such fantasies seems like a two-speed morality to me. I only know there are paths best not trodden. Ever.
-
I would love to try Natsu no Kusari (a game about repeated rape). I'm curious about rape and I enjoy some rape stories, they make me think. But I would never actually try it IRL even if I had the power, because it would harm the other person; that's the difference between fictional characters that you may maim and kill freely and real people. Or should we feel sorry for all the people we kill on RPG and action games?
-
If not for the censure, this should also reflect actual circumstances (not that a lot of VNs actually care to be realistic). For example, if you go all the way from loser to fucker, or if you get laid "sparsely", then you probably won't be taking much effort in your "maintenance", and you'll be unshaven for the occasion. That is, if you're not expecting the intercourse. Why bother if most often, you don't get to share your attributes? Also in moe there's more focus on the girls being cute, instead of being realistic. But in truth eroge are made towards a Japanese audience and they should acknowledge pubes as something normal there. More realistic styles of art tend to display them. About the nature of the "pubeship", Japan is a country with temperate climate (I've heard that they don't like the warm summer too much, they're a mostly clean people after all). I imagine that for a Brazilian it's Hell to keep them, and so it has stuck in the term for shaving. For a Japanese, not that much.
-
If you haven't played them I strongly suggest to get them. Me, I have played 999 on Android (not available on my country to begin with, so I'm sorry pals, this was back in 2015), I own a digital copy of VLR and ZTD on 3DS so I have played them all, so I'm not getting the pack. I'd prefer to get a VN I don't actually own elsewhere, such as Little Busters or Rewrite if they ever make their way to Steam (it's possible, maybe). I also got slightly tired with the tried and tested formula with ZTD, so if this jumps to the next gen of consoles and it isn't available for PC in a tentative a new installment, probably I won't buy it.

Please help me understand the concept of whitewashing
Okarin replied to Mugi's topic in General Discussion
Just like everything happens in Japan in Japanese media, things happen likewise in other areas, when it's that country that produces the movie. Think of why aliens always invade Japan first (when it's not even the most important country on Earth), and how it's carried over to USA when the work is American. -
Don't know... just have a go at the first sentences of a novel and then judge for yourself. I can tell that translating without furigana of any kind (supposedly you can transcribe the kanji with a good parser) is madness. Your pace will be a crawl and you'll waste a lot of time you could employ playing already translated games. Plus lots of us like other genres aside from VNs and have to pay attention to those as well.

Either way, everyone is free to like or dislike Berseria. Didn't Clint Eastwood say that "opinions are like asses, we all have one"?
-
No, it's a movie from the 90s I think. I recall I saw it on English class (subtitles of course, it was high school). I know about the blacks. I like Larry as an actor, so I don't mind. He was chosen for the job for other reasons than convicingly impersonating Othello.
-
You may be right, but still some people can differ. Actually, I have Zestiria on my library and Berseria on my wishlist, so lucky me (as per your point of view). At least Berseria ensured a future for the franchise (I think it sold pretty well), but of course, for some it's a lost cause. This thing happens all the time: old players give up on a franchise and new ones pick it up.
