Libra of the Vampire Princess - Releasing May 16th, 2017
Okarin replied to exaccuss's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Again, I don't know. It's true that some games have been delayed in any generation, especially if they're big games. But this generation has it especially bad. Again, this is tangential to Libra of the Vampire Princess. Producing a visual novel is different than producing a AAA game. Also, it seems that the game itself is done, what remains is just polish and details (like the market goods). Anyway, a proper game needs a proper schedule. You might need an extra month or so, but not years. Most games that have been announced long ago aren't really in serious production (Death Stranding anyone?). Once again this doesn't apply to LOTVP. From what I've seen, it should have been delivered last Christmas, but the game seems done already. -

I don't know... half of the big hits announced by Sony have been delayed for years. Same with Microsoft. Same with Zelda. Of course, that doesn't really apply to VN because those games tend to have a strong commitment with graphics, that take a lot of time and effort to develop. Then you have the dreaded downgrades. It's just the direction the industry has taken. -
Try other games to discard a failure of your sound system.

It was more a comment on how the current gen has constant delays, and less about the market thingies. But still, didn't they plan beforehand? Also, Clannad had the stickers and whatnot added later. -

You know your gaming generation is screwed when even visual novels get delayed because of trifles like these. Damn. -
What is your favorite year for (full) English releases of VNs?
Okarin replied to NowItsAngeTime's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I guess it's for the Western release, because in all justice, SG 0 was released in Japan in 2015. 2015 and 2016 were pretty cool, this gives me hope that the Western market for VN is unfolding and there are many treats to come. I'd like Tenkiame and Hatsusaku among others. I'll try to give Japanese a chance, anyway. You know you're a real VN aristocrat when you buy your games in Japanese sites. Sekai Project? Mangagamer? Jast? They can all sod off. -
I'm sure hordes of people played Ever 17 worldwide. You see, until recent times (I mark it 2012, when Katawa Shoujo was released, around that time Fuwa was founded, I think), visual novels in the West gained visibility on bursts. One such was Ever 17's translation. Some of those people would go on to become VN fans (some of them here, I guess), and some just thought, "wow, what an awesome ADVENTURE game that was", and called it a day. Still it's fair to say that the PC crowd is more educated than the console crowd.

Let them feel the righteous fury that almost brang down Sega. Once a sinner, always a sinner.

1) 2) Is there a Silent Hill VN? Why nobody told me so?! I have to lay my hands on it ASAP.

Rewrite, what just happened??? (Spoilers)

It's okay to play as you like for the first time, but if you want to play a thorough and long novel, walkthroughs are very handy, even indispensable. -
Do you listen to VN's Background Music or Mute it?
Okarin replied to Thatcomicguy's topic in General Discussion
Well, since they go to the effort of putting a soundtrack... I might as well listen to it, right? Most BGMs do their job and both don't mess around and they're not great, but some companies (like Key) put extra effort on their soundtracks. Zero Escape and Steins;Gate are also good. I'd say it goes with the rest of production values. If it's a game with money behind it, it shows in the soundtrack, too. It's interesting to note that some VN creators and writers are also musicians, like Maeda and Chiyomaru, so they write some songs (typically the opening or the most important pieces). -
Hatsuru Koto Naki Mirai Yori (Frontwing) apparently being localized
Okarin replied to bronx819's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Isekai stories are very old. In anime, the rightful king of isekai stories is The vision of Escaflowne (1996). You probably won't find a story as grand or thoroughly worked as this. Suffice to say that the protag was no otaku (huh Re;Zero?), she was a GIRL. -

First part: you are completely right, people who aren't into something bash it just because it's popular and they don't happen to like it (understand it?). Happens all the time with videogame companies, tech companies, etc. Second part: you have to separate the company's shenanigans from the quality of their games. In the case of Grisaia and its lot, MAYBE I'd be mad if they removed the 18+. I don't know really about the quality of its H scenes, but they seem to be good. Butcherings like Konosora are ABSOLUTELY out of the question. When you remove a H scene that leaves a hole in the writing, and don't fill it with anything, it looks super lame. There are some games that just are meant to have the H, let's us all face it. -

I'm not really familiar with Frontwing (their stellar title is, to me, Grisaia) but I've heard before this "bullshit" thing in their games. What is it? There are a lot of people who love Grisaia, but a whole lot too that bash it. Is it for the H scenes? For the writing? I still don't think I'd like Grisaia. I picked up the anime and couldn't even get to the second half of the first episode. Yes, it's that bad (for me). -
Well, I certainly like kuuderes in anime format. Not in real life (is there any girl remotely like that?). But I acknowledge anime and raifu are different things. So I don't exactly look for the same things in both worlds.
-
Well, Rei has a unique background (spoiler alert). Morishita from Koichoco is a full-throttle kuudere, and while suffering some bad training, she isn't quite the same case as Rei.

Why would you want to view Rewrite in your phone? Unless you have a giant screen. Of course, the minigames with their popups and thingies are a pain with a touch screen.

I have $50, show me something waifu related to buy
Okarin replied to Mugi's topic in General Discussion
Yes, but... they're in touch with the trends of our Western culture, not like dem waifus and their antikkusus. Namely, they're a bunch of feminists -
No! You're missing some piping hot sex that way!

Libra of the Vampire Princess - Releasing May 16th, 2017
Okarin replied to exaccuss's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Oh, first blow right there. Is this "content" gonna make it to Steam? Plus what's this about the cut routes? Did they exist in the first place? Sorry, I didn't follow the KS. Edit: I'm also eagerly awaiting all the shocked dislikes by normalfags purchasing this game. It will be great! -
Will I be disappointed knowing? Ever 17 spoilers
Okarin replied to mavsynchroid's topic in Visual Novel Talk
If you enjoyed Zero Escape you're probably going to enjoy Ever 17, there's some things recycled, but they're mostly details. The storyline is different but all the lovely Uchikoshi-mumbo-jumbo is there, and really, E17 can probably be described as ZE's ancestor. -
