For any Spanish-related thing, you can ask me here.

Where can I get the latest news on recent VN releases?
Okarin replied to EastCoastDrifter's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Depends if you're looking for releases in Japan or in the West. For the English releases, look no further than Fuwanovel's home page. I doubt there's more thorough info out there, and heck, it's pretty much ourselves! -
Well I don't know, but given that your average MC is around 17 or 18, having an older sister would mean that she's probably in college or has a job, and it would look... weird.

Really? I always thought Katawa Shoujo was filled with drama. Mind you, it's a novel that teaches you that disabled people, and people in general, no matter how different, are just people like the rest. Not so heavy a drama that it ends up a nakige, but every route has its share of drama, even if they also have humour and slice of life.

Visual Novels with winter backgrounds or Xmas backgrounds.

Sepia Tears is a great read. Just as there are mediocre novels with outstanding art, there are good novels with humble art. -
Okay, if you're reading Konosora in the original Japanese version, no qualms about it.
-
I guess this version of Konosora is tainted with Moenovel's localisation, isn't it?

If buying 2 or 3 parts bugs you, stick with Fire Emblem: Awakening, though you probably already have that. It has clichéd story about heroism and saving the world from doom, but it's otherwise quite enjoyable if you like this type of game. I guess Fire Emblem has always been that way... even Shining Force was...

VNs I'll come back at: - Steins;Gate (never properly read it, but watched a Youtube gameplay, so I'm planning to play it next Spring) - Little Busters (maybe I'll get it when it releases on Steam with special edition and those extra routes) VNs I'm not touching again: - Remember 11 (great atmosphere but flawed game, and Uchikoshi's games tend to be a one-trick pony) - Rewrite (haven't even completed it, but I feel it's really a one-trick pony, and if I get to complete it I'll never touch it again) - Noble Works (when I complete it I'll quickly forget about all of it. Feel good novel without any trascendence) VNs I'm unsure about: - Period (I loved it at the start, as well as some parts, but it's a very long novel and there's a lot of room for trash writing, and boredom) - Deardrops (I love it, so maybe I'll play again) Lots of people mention Steins;Gate, Hoshimemo, Konosora..., etc, it's because they're top-notch novels that most everybody loves.

Help with Japanese name choices and meanings.
Okarin replied to EastCoastDrifter's topic in Creative Corner
Well, I only know characters, especially in names, aren't always read straight. There are at least two readings for a given kanji: "onyomi" and "kunyomi". One of those is used when the kanji stands alone, the other is used when the character is combined with more (so it's one, two syllables at best). Also one of those is the Chinese original reading. But I forgot which is which. This should help- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanji If you want to look up kanji, I can only recommend: http://nihongo.monash.edu/cgi-bin/wwwjdic?1B -
Hoshimemo does have a sister route, but have a warning: their relationship isn't explored much (by the end the protag still keeps wondering what the heck he's doing) and it also feels shorter than other routes. So you'll probably need something else to fill your appetite.

I don't know about the Wii U, but given that it was sold for around 300 bucks, it probably is pretty expensive to produce, at last the tablet controller (its most significant feature and also its downfall). Switch will have none of that, and will use standard hardware that will probably be humble but adequate, it's like a handheld on steroids. But most specs are yet to be revealed. Nintendo's stock experienced a big boost with Pokémon Go. No, they didn't develop it, but they had some share on it and it meant a lot of publicity for Nintendo, so they earned a lot of money.

Going by your description, try something different and try Kira * Kira. It has a heavy feelz section too, but most of the time it's a cheerful story about some teenagers forming a punk rock band. It would be most enjoyable if you like music, but otherwise it's just a slice of life story. Overdrive, the company that makes it, is one of my favourite VN companies.

The PS2 is from a previous generation, it's unfair to compare that way because the market shifts and the audience changes. Actually what's more common is asking what is the most sold from a certain generation. Wii actually was a primer for a lot of people who otherwise wouldn't touch videogames. Of course, not all who bought one will turn out to be loyal gamers, but its effort was significant. Also, a console doesn't have to be the most sold to be a success. If the Switch manages to be cheap to manufacture, has an affordable price and sells well, it will bring fat revenues for Nintendo. Every recent move by Nintendo has been a huge success, like Pokémon Go (it was the recurring theme of this summer).

The Wii was a nice console with every type of game imaginable available for it (unlike the Wii U, ugh). It adds to Iwata's genius that it was able to incorporate people who traditionally didn't play videogames. But if you were a gamer, it was a good buy. I expect the same for Switch. The question with Nintendo's platforms is that they tend to release out of sync with the rest, and they face problems because of that. Anyway, the Switch has garnered a massive following. Lots of people seem to be disenchanted with the current panorama. And like one youtuber said, if you own a modern PC you might as well go for Nintendo, since they offer something different from the sameness of MicroSony.
-
Yeah, like the 3DS, right? More Nintendo badmouthing, is all. You're hardly imaginative.
-
I am closer to "boycott Sony", though I think the PS5 talk is BS. But who knows what these geniuses are thinking... The Switch should make a good buy, let's hope it fares better than the Wii U. If you bought the Pro for the niche games then okay, but paying 60-70 bucks for AAA games when in PC you can get those first-day for under 30 euros*... not for me. (*): Not the real hits like Fallout 4, no, but most ones. Also the framerate drops is another instance of BS, badmouthing and clickbait, since how much does it fall? 2, 3 FPS? Another thing altogether is that Sony promised better perfomance and it's nowhere to be found, but PS4 was made with a series of objectives: 1) 1080p 60 FPS; 2) HDR and 4K; 3) Playstation VR support. Dragon Age Inquisition, I'm thinking of uninstalling since its DRM might fry my beloved disk Must be bad for SSDs.

This is more accurate: https://vndb.org/v4738 But phony Japanese

People focus on the side comments (that are only to illustrate), not on the main topic

Don't know about making everyone happy, but it's no masterpiece I'm afraid. Nothing wrong with pointing that out. Not Key, nor anyone can keep making great works as if it's nothing. Sooner or later they're gonna stumble. Even Urobuchi has its lows (Gargantia cough cough)

"Re: Sharin no Kuni Project" Kickstarter preview page is up

You'd have to pay me to read this crap. -
That makes sense since she wasn't a full-on kuudere. She had circumstances that were more or less amended, and she distrusted Chinami and You, but she gets closer to them. Isuzu felt like a pretty good portrayal of an actual person once you get to know her circumstances.
