SC2013 - CartmanJr's blog [Kana Stage] Time to get serious
Tay replied to CartmanJr's topic in General Discussion
Hey, thanks again for the support on my blog. I really appreciate it : ) You're doing freakin' awesome! Keep it up! Review grinding is really tough: you may want to consider taking a day or two of low-numbers new kanji to power through the reviews. I find that as long as I don't string low-new-kanji days together, I don't get tempted to scale back. In any case, I'm super impressed. Keep up the great work. -
Way to go, sir! I hope to see an update soon, but it sounds like you're doing well. If you start having a crazy schedule, I'd recommend scaling back to 10 (goes almost instantly) -- which is what I've been doing lately -- but if you can keep up the 25, more power to you : )

Thanks, guys! I really appreciate it. I posted a LOA post in the admin forums, but didn't think to do so here: I've been taking care of my grandmother while my grandfather was in the hospital. She has dementia (Alzheimer's), and so it took 100% of my time (not totally true: the rest went to creating walkthroughs!) (and homework). Kanji Update: I'm still going strong! As I've posted in other blogs, when life gets crazy, it's best to NOT STOP, but SCALE BACK. That's, unfortunately, what I've had to do the last two weeks: I've done ~10 new kanji/day (which takes roughly 12 minutes of new study, plus reviews, a day). While my progress has slowed, I'm at least sticking with it, and feeling positive! I've got, like, 100++ posts to read through on the forums, so I'm gonna cut this entry short. Thanks a lot to the support here, and I hope to return the favor!

Which anime should I be watching this season?
Tay replied to Tay's topic in Anime/Manga Recommendations
Lucky Star Update: Lol, thanks Ryoji : ) This show is great. The opening song is SO energetic, it's infectious. I don't really understand the lyrics (unambiguous 3 cm?), but I've been using it as a mood booster. Works like a charm : ) I have to laugh: before I got any suggestions to watch this show, I tried 1/2 of the first episode because Crunchyroll thought I'd like it (slice of life). After ~5 minutes of discussion on how to eat the choco-roll, I thought to myself, "Wow. If THIS is what hardcore slice of life is like, I can't handle it..." Well, I'm glad that I came back : ). If I had just stuck it out until the end of the episode, I think I'd have realized it was a Family Guy-esque gag. Probably because in that first episode they have 2-3 of such conversations . It makes me sad to realize much of the show's brilliance is going over my head (the references), but I'm really enjoying it. It's been a mood boost, and I'm really liking it. I'm on Episode 9. -
I need to start keeping track of these magical REtrans moments...

Having the same problems. I've seen it roughly once per every three posts or page loads. This is generally caused by heavy blog traffic (and we've seen a lot lately), but I don't have access to any more than that. Here's looking to Aaeru/Vax/ilegend for more info.

Wahoo! Making the walkthroughs takes a lot of time, but it's fun to revisit the characters and fun memories : )
-
I'll have to look around sites like Baka BT or nyaa to find that one. I'd love to see more of this show. : )

Utah. There are a lot of people who like Anime/Manga here, and we have some Japanese-culture-centric stores in the malls and tons of Japanese/Korean grocery stores... but on the whole, I'm not very connected to the local fanbase. As far as VNs go, like most places in the US, when people think of VNs they think of sleezy dating sims or sex games. Whenever I talk about it, I have to act really quick to explain that not only is there MORE out there, but that I've never played or been interested in those types of games. My current style of evangelism is to pull out Fate/Stay Night on my tablet and show a scene or two.

I don't think so. These are the episodes I've seen: http://www.crunchyroll.com/the-world-god-only-knows (Seasons 1/2) Is the Tenri arc a spin off?
-
Yes! I watched it. It was literally the first time in my life where a character (Elsie) had that infectious cute quality people are always talking about in these forums. Love her! Are there any plans by big players to stream season 3? (Isn't season 3 going on right now?) I loved the first two seasons on CR, and would LOVE to keep watching.

@Ryoji - Lucky Star Update: We're on Episode 5. This is a fun, unusual, strange, awesome show. It gets funnier the more attention you give it. Fun : ) The only question I have is: will a plot develop, or is it more of the episodic, funny, slice of life stuff? -

lol, this show is a blast. Heather and I sat down to watch it (she's not an anime fan), and we both laughed at the "nothingness" and humor of it. Great stuff so far . -

Ryoji (et al), Did you say everybody needs to watch the show "Lucky Star"? Is it this one: http://www.crunchyroll.com/lucky-star ? -
(Sumimasen, watashi no nihongo wa hata des...) Welcome!!!!!

Goll, that's frustrating. Sorry to hear that : (

Have you checked your antivirus to make sure it didn't eat any files from the game directory? Also, are you using non-Unicode Japanese settings? I'd try going through many of the steps in cybersteele's checklist, and/or downloading a fresh copy and trying again.
-
Aside from needing more information to help you, many of these errors come from an antivirus program stealing key files from inside the game. Check to make sure your antivirus hasn't sabotaged the game files. Also, downloading a fresh copy from fuwanovel is a good plan, too.

Lol! Oh dear, my aura of mystery has fallen... Yeah... : ) Love KS. I'll have it up tonight. If you have a chance, I'll post the format, and then add the content once you've approved it.

Katawa Shoujo Summary Hisao Nakai is a normal kid living a normal life. A senior in High School, things seem to be going his way until, in the middle of a love confession, his heart seizes up and he collapses. Upon waking, Hisao is informed that he has a heart arrhythmia: a condition which will require major lifestyle changes if he wants to stay healthy. Katawa Shoujo is the story of a boy, force-transferred to a school for disabled kids, and his special friends who open his eyes to what life is truly about. Ending Guide Katawa Shoujo is divided into five story arcs (one for each of the central characters), or "routes": Lilly Hanako Emi Rin Shizune You will encounter each of these girls several times in the course of Act 1, and depending on your choices, the game will select a route for you to take. Act 2 (through the end of the game) will be different for each story arc, or "route". What this means, of course, is that Act 1 is extremely complex in terms of choices (and the computer variables and flags associated with them). This complexity makes for an awesome story, but is difficult to explain in a textual walkthrough. Consequently, please consider the following advice: I recommend playing through Act 1 making the choices that come naturally to you, and observing each of the girls carefully. By the end of Act 1, you'll more or less know in your heart which route you want to start with. If you made choices by listening to your heart, you'll probably have already ended up in the route you want! If that's not the case, or you're playing through the game again and want to follow a different route, please see the individual route walkthroughs: they will guide you from the beginning of the game until the end, and will faithfully see you through to your chosen heroine. Thank you for using this walkthrough. Katawa Shoujo is the first visual novel I ever played, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. Also... Lilly forever! Route Walkthroughs PROLOGUE Katawa Shoujo opens to a prologue of sorts (a snowy confession) which leads immediately into Act 1: Life Expectancy. Lily Good and Neutral Endings Hanako Good and Neutral Endings Bad Ending Emi Good and Neutral Endings Bad Ending Rin Good, Neutral and Bad Endings Shizune Good and Bad Endings Note: Katawa Shoujo features notifications on choice screens which will help you see whether or not you've made a choice before. This will help all of the 100%-Driven players out there. As an added resource, please see this incredible flowchart, made by Feuver. If you're missing scenes, I'd focus on getting all the bad ends -- especially in Act 1 (they're probably what you're missing). Attribution This guide was based heavily on both Feuver's flowchart as well as information gleamed directly from personal experience as well as the official Katawa Shoujo site. A big thanks to Four Leaf Studios, the creators of the game, for the wonderful memories and powerful stories they've left us

My next walkthroughs will be G Senjou no Maou, and Sharin no Kuni. Woot! One of those should be done tonight! .... or maybe Katawa Shoujo. Yeah... Tonight's project is Katawa Shoujo. G Senjou and Sharin no Kuni (main game) next week.

Bwa ha ha ha... Welcome : ) but hey, at least you have the honor of being the second signature

Reminds me of the recent Disney movie 'The Princess and the Frog.' Awesome I like the art style of the first: soft and personal.
