  1. Found a cheap copy of Guilty Gear X2 on PS2 at Goodwill yesterday, and had to buy it. I don't think I've ever bought a fighting game before (although I've played them with friends), so I've been having a great time with that.
  2. Yandere is my favorite kind of character, so I have a few: Anime- I haven't played the School Days VN yet, but I've seen the anime twice, so I'll say my favorite anime yandere is still Kotonoha (although Kaede from Shuffle! will always be a favorite too). The things that happen in the bad endings I've seen from the game are great, too. Manga- A couple of lesser-known favorites in terms of manga for me are Noa from Oniichan Control (yandere imouto!?!?) by my all-time favorite manga artist Yuna Kagesaki, and Hotaru Minakami from Akarui Sekai Keikaku (both are scanned and available in English). I have to say, manga is where I've found the best group of yandere characters. VN- Youko from Cross Channel. No contest.
  3. I think I once sat and watched seven episodes of School Days in a row. Usually 5-6 is about my limit (I recently watched the entire second half of Haganai NEXT in one day).
  4. I never skip routes after finishing at least one-and even then, I can only think of a couple times I (purposely) dropped a game without seeing even one ending. This is mainly because of all the times where I end up playing a route I thought I would dislike, only to end up loving the heroine in question by the time the credits roll. And funnily enough, coming back to the topic, a lot of examples of that come from games where I could only see and/or understand the true route by playing through characters I initially disliked (like Touko from Cross Channel, Tsugumi from Ever17, and Mizuha from G-Senjou). So I don't know if that's the intended purpose of having locked routes (in fact, it probably isn't), but for me it's what gets me to play routes I normally wouldn't want to.
  5. I've always been into rock and alternative, thanks to my dad- he was the one that got me into bands like Green Day, Metallica, and Pink Floyd. I still listen to all of those, although my favorite band at any given time changes pretty often. Right now I would have to say it's Nirvana, though, with Foo Fighters in a close second. My tastes sort of branch off of each other, since I find new stuff to listen to based on whatever I already like- that's how I ended up checking out Foo Fighters. Although, I may have been a little late getting on the Nirvana bandwagon. Other than that, my iPod is probably about half rock/alternative, and half anime music. These are my top five songs:
  6. I've read the manga, and was surprised at how much I liked it. It's definitely worth checking out.
  7. I spent most of my time reading when I was younger, although I spend more time on VNs nowadays. I recently finished reading Perfume by Patrick Suskind, which was gloriously messed up in all the right ways. But a lot of the books I've been picking lately are nonfiction, since I tend to try and learn anything and everything I can about the subjects I get interested in at any given time(other recent reads for me are the Kurt Cobain biography Heavier than Heaven and The Disaster Artist by Greg Sestero). That said, I do occasionally find fiction that I like, although I usually avoid sci-fi and fantasy (as I can't stand them 9 times out of 10). My taste in books is totally separate from my taste in anime and games, for whatever reason- if Madoka Magica and Gunslinger Girl (two series in my top ten) had been novels, I probably wouldn't have given them a chance.
  8. Playing Rewrite after finishing Shinikiss, which was a pretty good game despite my initial thoughts.
  9. My favorites are probaby G-Senjou no Maou, Grisaia no Kajitsu, and Little Busters. Honorable mentions, though, go to Saya no Uta, Brass Restoration, and Corpse Party. ...Basically, it's really hard to choose.
  10. Akuma no Riddle is finally coming out? That's a must-watch for me. As for everything else... Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou (I won't start this one until I've heard some initial opinions though, since this one could go either way) Isshuukan Friends Kanojo ga Flag wo Oraretara (They had me at "flag") Selector Infected WIXOSS ("Dangerous Game" is my favorite cliche plot device) On a side note, there seem to be a lot of shows about NEETs this season. I wonder why?
  11. Playing Shinigami no Kiss wa Wakare no Aji. It's a cute little game so far, even if it's probably going to get even more sad as I go on.
  12. Agreed. That one was an easy vote.
  13. There were a couple Arenas where I didn't recognize any characters/ only 1 of the characters, so there were a few in here I had to pick based on looks alone. 14. Recently I picked up the vocal soundtrack for the Love Hina anime, and I'm loving Shinobu's theme. It's so cute, and super catchy. It makes me want to go and finish the Love Hina manga after 2 years of having it on my shelf. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhWwEsPJPQ4
  15. One of my all-time favorites, from Shadow Star Narutaru: "Shiina, you can't save everyone with just kindness." As for funny quotes, my time in the Yugioh fandom gave me a goldmine from the Japanese-> Chinese -> English subs.
  16. I've only dealt with this in terms of visual novels once or twice, since I actually have yet to make it through all the "classics" that people recommend everywhere. But I do remember feeling that way about Kana ~Imouto~ when I finally played it a few months back. Was it sas and touching? Yeah, sure. But I've certainly played better, and I certainly wouldn't call it the best English VN ever released, like I've seen in more than one area of the web. In terms of anime, though, I felt that way about most of the overhyped anime in the past year or so- mainly because I hang around Tumblr so often. Free? Never watched it, but I know enough from hype that it was ruined for me. Attack on Titan? There aren't enough forum threads in the world for me to describe my hatred of that show. And I never watched a single episode.
  17. I'm in the Chicago area, and we've had the worst winter I can remember having in a long time... right now it's -12 F, and feels like -36 (according to Yahoo weather). Not to mention the snow: it's pretty much everywhere. -_- I'm not good with cold weather, so needless to say it's been rough for me.
  18. Harukoi Otome was probably the most boring, dragged out game I've ever played... I think I made it halfway through the first route (the imouto) before I dropped it. (I say halfway, because I didn't even reach the first ero-scene.) The thought of sitting through four and a half more routes of absolutely nothing was pretty much awful, and I'm glad I didn't bother.
  19. After seeing people get excited over this project, I really want to play Majikoi. But as a general rule, I never play games until the patch covers the entire game, so I've been waiting for Miyako to be translated before I download the game. So even though I know next to nothing about the game, I'm joining the long list of supporters!
  20. I've been meaning to get back to it for a while now, so I'm glad I'm finally taking the time to do it. And I'm pretty amazed that I got it at all, to be honest- I hunted around online for a year or two before I found a guy with a brand-new, sealed copy, willing to trade it for a couple manga volumes I had lying around. Making that trade was the proudest moment of my life.
  21. Rin 1 is pretty much a buildup to Rin 2, which is a buildup to Refrain- AKA the most emotional part of the novel. So just keep pushing through, it pays off. :3 As for me, I finally finished Ikinari Anata ni Koishiteru. I can't say it was as good as my initial impressions made it out to be, as it hit a wall at the heroine routes and never fully recovered, but eh, I got some pretty good laughs from the common route, so I can't complain too much. Next up in my backlog is Ever17. Finally finishing it (well, restarting it, really) after almost a year with no progress. I'm pretty excited about this one, too, considering how long I spent hunting down a physical copy.
  22. Really looking forward to Subarashiki Hibi and the Grisaia sequels. There are a few others, too, but those are the two (well, three, I guess) that I really, really want to see.
  23. Overrated: -Shingeki no Kyojin (Words literally cannot describe how tired I am of hearing that this anime is a "masterpiece") -Neon Genesis Evangelion (a show that I tried so hard to love, but that I ended up feeling more indifferent towards than anything else. Glad to know others here have similar opinions.) Underrated: -Jungle wa Itsumo Hare nochi Guu (I've never heard anyone talk about this- probably because it came out in 2001, and hasn't been available for a few years now- but from what I've seen of it, this is probably the most surreal comedy I've ever seen. And it's incredibly entertaining because of that. I used to use it to get friends into anime several years back.) - Shadow Star Narutaru (The manga was cancelled before it was finished over here because of low sales and the graphic content in later volumes, and the anime has been oop for years. But in terms of gruesome deconstructions of a genre, Narutaru pulls it off INCREDIBLY well- it does for the "kids controlling pet monsters" genre what Madoka does for magical girls. Honorable mention goes to Mohiro Kitoh's other series Bokurano, although that one is really best in manga form.) -
  24. New Taiko replay. Incredible how I went from not being able to clear this song to a perfect combo in the span of about a month...
  25. Unfortunately, Yumina was the one prize I had no desire to win, so I think I'll pass on this. Good luck to everyone who does it, though. :3
