I will, as soon as I can see through the tears the feels from this game caused.

Clannad to be released on Steam by Sekai Project
suikashoujo replied to solidbatman's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Pretty sure this was my third VN ever, so it has a special place in my heart, regardless of the awful original TL. I kind of thought Key's works would always just be something requested by newbies who didn't know any better and trolls who just did it for a quick laugh- I never thought they would actually be announced. Especially not by a newer company like Sekai Project. Now, if only they were going to put out a hard copy... maybe someday? -
I played this one a couple weeks ago. I will never look at butter the same way again.

I've had a lot of fun participating in them, especially the scavenger hunt. The prizes have been fun too; it's hard to find a place online that sells hard copies for reasonable prices, so getting the chance to win one for free is always a plus. But I'd love if you continued them after returning from Japan. As for the trivia contest, I would have participated if I had been able to find a team. Unfortunately though, I don't have enough knowledge to compete alone. I only knew like three or four of the quotes, so I'm already out. Still, it's a good idea for a contest.

It's rough being in the midwest... everything good always goes to the big cities on either coast. I would go, but between a busy schedule and lack of money, I don't see it happening. Eh, maybe someday.

Heh, well, I started reading manga about 8-8.5 years ago, and Full Moon was the third (I think) that I bought back then. After that I branched out based on ads I saw in the backs of books and trailers on the DVDs I bought- some of which was older stuff. Even now though, it's that late nineties-early 2000's era shoujo that I have a soft spot for. Some of my other favorites are Marmalade Boy (although that's more early-nineties), Sand Chronicles, Ultra Maniac, and Zettai Kareshi (I even have the third volume of this one in the original Japanese). I used to subscribe to Shojo Beat magazine, but I haven't really liked anything that's come out since then, so I guess that's why my tastes are a bit old-fashioned.

I adored Rewrite, honestly. (I even changed my Tumblr URL to Chibimoth after I read it). It's my second favorite Key novel, losing only to Little Busters. Kotarou is a great protagonist who does a good job of avoiding the "bland self insert" mold, which I appreciate. Routewise, I would say my favorites are Shizuru>Lucia>Akane>Kotori>Chihaya, with Moon and Terra falling somewhere in the middle. Heroinewise, though, it's Shizuru>Kotori>Akane>Lucia>Chihaya. So either way, not a huge Chihaya fan. And I think the only reason I rank Shizuru's route so high is because I loved Shizuru- I probably wouldn't have liked it as much otherwise, as some of the other routes (like Akane's) were, structurally, a bit better. But I'm biased; what can I say I just started reading Harvest Festa with ITH, too- I already have the game, so I decided not to wait for the translation. It's so nice falling in love with the characters all over again- especially Kotarou, who has some more voiced lines this time around.

I grew up reading shoujo possibly more than I did watching mainstream stuff like Pokemon (although I had that phase too), so I have quite a few favorites. Mitsuki Koyama from Full Moon wo Sagashite (one of my favorite manga of all time, period): Sana Kurata from Kodomo no Omocha: And Haine Otomiya from Shinshi Doumei Cross (Another work by Tanemura- she's still one of my favorite mangaka to this day, not just for shoujo manga. Not gonna lie, I bought the artbook for this series):

Well, congrats on first place, Krill. Too bad we were going for the same prize. Congrats to Chocolat, too- getting into the top 3 was no easy task; believe me, I know. This was a fun time; I'm glad I participated.

I-it's not like I NEED to know who best girl is or anything... b-baka.

Ren's Monthly Fuwanovel Activity - Cryptic Puzzle Sleuthing
suikashoujo replied to OriginalRen's topic in Members' Lounge
I didn't realize that I completely skipped over a clue to get the answer until the answers were posted here... I found the clue in the Kancolle thread before the one in the Cute Images thread. So, clue number 5... whoops. -
Anyone want to team up with me? The more I think about it, going solo against any amount of groups seems a little risky, especially since I'm not as well-read as some others. I've covered most of the classics, but probably not enough, sooo....

I wasn't going to participate, but here I am, with a last-minute entry.

Oh yeah, we've all posted now, right?

I might give it a try. This seems fun.

[News] MangaGamer announces four new titles at Otakon 2014
suikashoujo replied to Magicflier's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Every one of these announcements seems like a winner (I've only played Euphoria out of all of them, but I love that game already- the others just seem really good). I'm glad they seem to have made up for AX. -
Which is why, assuming they do have it (which, fortunately, seems INCREDIBLY likely), I'm curious as to how it'll be marketed. They'll have to mention the violent aspects, but I'm wondering how much they'll talk about the story aspect (since you can't REALLY explain why it's good without spoiling all the best twists). it takes a good deal of faith in a company to believe them when they say "No, no, it only LOOKS like a nukige; just trust us!" And whatnot. So if the announcement does come, that's probably what I'll be most interested in watching- how they market it.
-
Yeah, who knows- maybe you'll like it more than I did. Just as long as you don't go into it expecting master storytelling, you might have a decent time with it. Although just know now that the scene you're talking about- as bad as it is- is nothing compared to the rest of the game... *shudder* the sequence that was a part of will haunt me for a loooong time to come.

Having played both games, I'd have to disagree. What made Euphoria great was that even if it seemed like a violent nukige while you were playing it, when you looked back after finishing it, it actually had some interesting ideas that had absolutely nothing to do with sex. It wasn't the most mind-blowingly awesome game I've ever played, but for what it was, it was really good. Fraternite, on the other hand, had some interesting ideas, but really suffered because of the type of game it was. I did a mini-review of the game here (there are spoilers and gory images in the post, so don't click if you don't want to see that), and my main point was that where Euphoria was a game with a good plot that happened to have a lot of brutal sex scenes, Fraternite was a game that had a lot of sex scenes that were 10 times as brutal, with a plot that they never really did anything with. Given more time, they could have woven everything they promised into a great horror game. But instead, there was pretty much no payoff for sitting through 20+ hours of some of the most sickening stuff I have EVER seen in an eroge. This is an utsuge through and through, because you WILL feel awful by the time it's over. I did read the article linked in this post after finishing the game, though, and while it did provide a spin on the game's ideas that made it seem a little bit smarter, I still couldn't give it any higher than a 4/10. So if you're looking to play this game for the story, then seriously, don't let the trial fool you. It's paper-thin, and the characters have pretty much no depth. Their only development is "what kind of depravity will they fall into by the end?" (except for the protagonist, who is just useless from beginning to end). But maybe that's just me. Although it seems to have been pretty universally disappointing, from what I've seen.

Make that 4 votes for Torta. She didn't really stand out for most of the game, And even her route was kind of boring But Al Fine was more than enough to make up for it, and she ended up being my favorite. Lise's route was the most emotional, though. She had the best route, in my opinion (since Al Fine wasn't really a heroine route), but her character was a little bland for me. She was cute, though.

When did it happen to you? (When did you become a lolicon?)
suikashoujo replied to Okami's topic in The Coliseum of Chatter
I haven't actually crossed the border into being a lolicon- I find some loli characters attractive, and I find some mature characters attractive. Actually, a lot of my favorite characters are lolis- I'd say my favorite heroine, Shizuru from Rewrite, counts as a loli. But I'm not exclusively interested in them. Also, I just can't see characters under the age of, say, 14-15 attractive. If a girl looks younger than that but is actually older than fine, but if a girl is actually still a full-blown child (like the three-year-old above), that's where I personally draw a line. Even if they're fictional, I just can't do it. (That said, as long as people keep their interest in characters like that exclusively to 2D, I don't really care what they do. Just thought I'd get that out of the way now )
