Token events are usually around half the ammount of Score Match events. You can check my last summary on Eli event here. I used my scouting ticket. Guess what I got

50k is preety much nothing nowadays; it's far easier to obtain T2, than it was right after the start. You'll obviously use at least 10 stones for an event like this +/- level ups, but you get rewards as well - both from the event and from the daily login. I propably overshot a bit as well, but it's better to be safe, than end up getting thrown off the tier.

Monster Musume series part 1: Why the heck is Clephas playing this?
Narcosis commented on Clephas's blog entry in Clephas' VN home
You finally submitted to your darkest urges. Well done. -
Cheers, mate! Though, you still have a long way to go, son

In fact, it's possible, but not as easy as using the higres or multicolor modes. C64 had a couple of alternative graphic modes, which were developed later on, mainly by the demoscene. They usually consist of tricky hardware hacks, that allowed to create and use bigger color pallettes. By utilizing bad scanline (called Caroline), which caused flickering on screen, as well as memory read/write delay; it was basically two pictures in one, which blinked alternately, creating an illusion that gave more colors. No matter the 8bits, it was mostly massive hardware limitations, which decreased color pallettes; most pc's from that time (except NEC's) simply did not had enough memory to fit those pallettes inside, nor utilize them. Even NEC PC's couldn't display such huge pallettes from the start and it took NEC years to develop their machines further until hardware grew strong enough to handle them. The real challenge comes in being able to use the highres or multicolor modes. Despite the fact most games used the latter, demoscene barely used multicolor mode, instead relying on the later developed MCI, FLI or IFLI modes. One of the main issues was the ammount of work and difficulty; you can't just artificially raise the pallete to achieve prefered results - you have to use those 16 colors available and put them to best use possible. Despite that, one of the best looking traditional graphics on C64 were made using plain multicolor mode. It's also the exact mode I'll be using for the graphics in this vn. Having more colors sounds fun, but it won't really make the game c64-esque, considering I'm just copying the graphics style while the game is made on a modern PC. That's why I decided to stick with the initial hardware limitations from c64 as much as possible, although it's not my primary objective. What I'm really aiming for is creating a truly nostalgic experience

Truly glorious art! I always loved that loading screen from Phantis; it was a lot better than the game itself, haha. Phantis was actually known as Game Over II on the C64. Dinamic changed (or was actually forced to change) the main heroine into a guy, which completely wrecks the original premise. It's hilarious to imagine british fussing over that gal's breasts, but back then even a couple of pixels could be deemed scandalous and she had some huge knockers, indeed. I guess UK didn't changed that much, after all Original Phantis never got outside the Spain. The loading screen from Speccy is also superior to the one from C64. To this day, I can't understand why they went with the ugly multicolor mode instead of using the highres one, which would be 100% compatible with the original picture. If not for the game, in the right hands Phantis could make a great animation, or comic series. The designs alone + aditional art from both Game Over games were enough to justify that.

Sadly, the 8bit version is a rather lousily made curiosity, unable to compete even with the earliest NEC games it was based on. A neat idea nonetheless, it's just the execution that failed; they didn't put enough heart and care to make it look and feel like an actual PC-88 game, but you can't really expect the same kind of effort towards bonus content. I didn't knew people tried that kind of stuff on the old Speccy, haha. I never understood why the british adored it like some sort of a national treasure; that PC somehow managed to be quite popular despite being a completely awful piece of hardware. It's even more amazing to see ported/made NEC-styled vn's, considering it's very limited graphics capabilities. Creating anime-styled art in ultra low resolutions is a huge pain in the ass. Suprisingly, the art doesn't actually suck, even tho speccy's dithering makes your eyes bleed.

I should propably remove the poll now, since it was meant to be more of a joke, than anything. Not saying I won't use the collected data, or troll people by making a game with least popular choices System is more or less finished. I'll be working on the UI and art assets from now on, possibly script as well. This is going to be one hell of a week, I'll tell you that.

I don't want to burst your fun or anything, but could you try to keep that spam of yours to minimum? This is a discussion board, after all. If you want to chat, use the new chat app, go to TS or use Skype instead. Making short posts like those floods the forums with redundant crap, which makes it a lot more difficult for others to search for meaningful content.

Everyone's getting UR Nicos, just not me. I can't even get an SR I woke up, kinda. I finally got my Nozomi and managed to fill the exp gauge almost completely. I'm waiting for 25LP to recharge now, there's nothing better than free LP. I'll propably use a couple more stones tommorow, I have to get more friend points.

I'd advise to stay away from rebuilding, or altering the game in any way. Even though Bittersweet Fools is Minori's oldest work, they are already partnered with MG; chances are big your TL might be taken down preety fast. If I recall, this shouldn't be particulary hard to crack as older games typically had little to none actual protection. Try to get someone to help you with the repacking. I wish you luck. This is a really nice visual novel, it definately deserves a translation.

A small update of sorts. This is the result of my painstaking work, I did for the last couple of days. I decided to stick with Ren'Py, because of it's flexibility, "ease of use" and cross-platform support. Unfortunately, it wasn't originally meant to work in low resolutions, while forced graphics filtering made it nearly impossible to display pixel art; Thanks to PyTom, this is all in the past now, as Ren'Py became a viable tool for those who want to create pixel-art based games. I still have to test certain things, but the most important functions are already there and font is displayed as intended. I'm going to start customizing the engine and if everything goes well, I should have some early graphics ready. I'll propably have the most work with the script - it's more or less finished, but requires some serious rewriting in a lot of parts. I should be able to post rather frequent status updates from now on. Be on the lookout for first teasers! It was actually inspired by Spice and Wolf SLG's from NDS Yes, that's true. Impossible Mission had a really decent voice synthesis on c64, it's also one of the most memorable. STAY A WHILE, STAY FOREVER! It's still amazing even today what C64 was capable of, considering it's hardware limitations.

News From 5bp/Mages Regarding The YU-NO Remake
Narcosis replied to XReaper's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I won't cry if this will end up as a console only exclusive. People should pick up the original. -
Japan's response to USA's giant robot duel challenge
Narcosis replied to Emries's topic in General Discussion
Americans are rolling out a tin can model on tracks that looks more intimidating than the toy guns it's armed with, while Kuratas is a fully operational machine. You can't even expect US to win this, haha. -
I've been waiting for this for a very long time. Definately going to pick it up as soon as I'll finish the stuff I've been reading.

Wanko doesn't actually have a bright color palette; in fact, it's preety toned to the point of being realistic and nice to the eyes. A good example of bright color palettes with high contrast are in art from the majority of Liar-Soft games; Ryuuko is known for drawing vivid graphics and infusing colors with characteristics, which make it stand out. Some examples (might be NSFW/slightly spoilery):

I was planning to introduce you to Axanael, but then I found out japanese might be a problem. You should ask OriginalRen. supposedly, he's the master of butts around here.

If you're rank 150 and 100% LP efficient (which doesn't sound that easy, as it seems), you're going to use around 8-10 stones average in order to get a T2, rating aside. Depending on circumstances and quality/popularity of the event, you will either remain efficient and save up lovecas, or toss in additional stones to remain within T2 with as little loss as possible. It's preety much possible, though. It's what I've been doing lately, cause I'm a lazy bastard

This bug might be related to rendering issues on different devices. The only viable explanation for this is that the bitmap with Nico doesn't render it's transculency properly on your device, due to different textures overlapping it at that point. Either that, or that particular bitmap has an artifact that's visible only on your device, because of it's particular way of rendering. Eitherway, I dunno, lol. I don't have it on my LG P710, either. NOTICE OF GREAT IMPORTANCE I did some cleaning on my friend list, removing all the people who didn't played the game for a very long time (Including some, that passed over a year, haha). In other words, I suddenly ended up with eleven free slots. If there was a time you wanted to add me, but couldn't due to some extraordinary circumstances, now it's your best time to try again. If stars alligned properly, there's a chance I might accept your eager invites

Whatever floats your boat, man. Personally, I'd really consider starting a blog in your case. You will get a lot more visibility that way; it doesn't really matter whether you'll post on a daily, weekly or periodical basis. What matters the most is the content itself and it's the main factor that decides about website traffic. Besides, there's a lot of different ways to to sustain it on a required level without the need for consistency.

[Poll] Do you play pre-release patches or final versions?
Narcosis replied to ittaku's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I got used to waiting so much, it doesn't even make a difference whether I'll see the TL in a month, or within next ten years. As long as I manage to read it before I die, it's fine. -
To be honest, most of the upcoming cards don't look that good, but I definately want that kotori, Nico and Hanayo. That kitty Rin and second Nozomi look preety neat as well. Goth Maki looks cool and that Honoka card is preety okay, too. I guess it's just that upcoming Nozomi, Umi and Eli that do not seem special to me. Knowing myself, I'll propably end up getting all the T2's anyway... As for the Eli event: It was a laidback event for me; I played in the morning and evenings as usual and waited till the end, when I did some grinding for a bunch of stones to get T2. For a while, I was far past the 5k to the point it made me worried about actually losing. I was surprised the end result was quite higher from what I expected. At times it's really hard to judge things from the ingame rankings. Summary: Stones at start: 3 Stones obtained: 12 Stones used: 12 Daily stones: 2 Special reward stones: 3 Level ups: 3 Win-win situation. Although five stones isn't that much, the past-event draws not only got me the previous missing N, but the new one as well and a bunch of new R's; not to mention the UR Eli special, in the end I ended up obtaining 22 stones. Feels good~ You can find my previous Rin Score Match event results here. Aside from T2 Eli, I managed to get T1 in song ranking this time, which was nice. Sadly, those tickets didn't got me anything from initial rares. As usual, haha. I'm not sure about the upcoming Nozomi event. As much as I like her, that card seems the least preety of all the upcoming events; I like the unidolized one more. Sadly it's a smile card, so I'll propably end up fighting for T2, since I really need to make my team at least slightly stronger. I just love how awkward the dialogues from SIF look when taken out of context.

There's a difference between self-insert fantasies and real stories. The truth is, most vn's and eroge belong to the first group, hence the design choices that often neglect or entirely skip showing protagonists on the screen. I'm not talking even talking about moege or games focused on dating, since kissing there is a must so you'll have at least a single gratuitous cg somewhere. Love is not just about kissing, or sex. As much as physical contact is shown on-screen, What these games often fail to portray is an actual, realistic approach to relationships - both with joys and hardships of feeling something profound towards another live being; at most these relationships between characters feel incedibly shallow and artificial. In worst cases, they just make me cringe and wonder what kind of life led the writers to create such prose.
