Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak Academy (Future & Despair)
Mr Poltroon replied to Eclipsed's topic in Anime/Manga Talk
This anime is the sequel to Goodbye Despair. Absolutely do not watch it until you've played that. As for the anime adaptation of the first game, it really makes no difference either way. It is just an adaptation of the first game and brings nothing new to the table. It's also not particularly popular as it skimps out on the investigation segments. -
I'm not in on how the Muv-Luv retranslation went, but assuming that they didn't look at Ixrec's version, it's entirely plausible they may have just picked "stupid". There's no direct translation. They mean the same thing. It doesn't mean they changed it for the sake of changing it. Their translator might have associated 'baka' with 'stupid', which is entirely plausible. Who says their translator had ever translated the work 'baka' before?

Do you play visual novels with or without voice acting?
Mr Poltroon replied to ratboi's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Voices are mostly optional. I can enjoy a really good cast, and there are voices which are just briliant -- see Steins;Gate's Okabe Rintarou -- but I don't think voices are all that important, and can do perfectly well without them -- see Higurashi and most Original VN's. -
Tay, you've got a great opportunity here. Don't miss it. Aside from that, I'll be filling out the survey in a few days, when I get to properly sit down in front of a computer.

Nah, we're all gonna commit mass suicide every time a family member dies. You see how stupid that sounds? Of course we're going to make it. My parents' grandparents died before my parents' parents and everyone survived until now. Death is an entirely natural thing and it happens to everyone, including you and your family. The main issue is how I used to think dying from old age was best, but I was clearly clueless. You're incorrect. They do keep the pain bottled up, yes, but they're not trying to hide it, they're saving it for the funeral, as it truly is pointless to depress now. Do they need consolation? Perhaps, but not from an insensitive bastard like myself, surely.

I don't have to deal with the brunt of it, nor do I know her too well. My parents are the ones who really have it hard yet deal with it seemingly well. I suppose when it's my parents' turn I'll have this experience under my belt.

Time to vent a bit. If you are uncomfortable with the themes of death, old age and I guess to some extent, Alzheimer's, read on, I'm sure you'll love this. My grandmother is at death's door. There's only so much pumping her full of medicine every day can do. This is the first time that I've had to deal with a family member getting too old, and the whole situation makes me rather sad. I remember she used to come by hour house every month and do the ironing. After a few years, though, she had an attack and hurt her leg. She became unable to walk without crutches and as a consequence became a bit depressed. She started wanting to do things like leaving the house to get a coffee or something, which was nice and healthy. But then life decided to add salt to the wound: the house she and my grandfather lived in was too old, so it had to be rebuilt. She went to live with some family which I guess was probably the healthiest she's been since then. When they finished rebuilding my grandparents' house, due to some mistake the house ended up with huge steps before the doorway, as opposed to the small ones they used to have. Since it was very hard for my grandmother to traverse them, she was now stuck in the house and got even more depressed. Of course, she insisted on living there with her husband anyway. One day, she might have fallen at home or something without telling anyone, and my grandfather didn't notice anything. So she wounded her back and it kep getting worse and worse and the pain was such that she had to go to the hospital. The wound was terrible and she had others, too. If nobody keeps watch on her, nobody will know if she hurts herself because she won't tell anyone. She kept complaining for being at the hospital, of course, but she finally went back home three days ago. A family member went by to visit and what did they find out? She was completely off her medication and had peed herself. She can't take care of herself anymore. She can't do much anymore. And my grandfather, who's even older than her, can't take care of her anymore. She's currently sick at the hospital and I'm not expecting her to come back. The idea one is too sick to do anything and even live, hurts. Another family member who's in her 90's is still relatively healthy, able to cook, walk, use the bathroom, etc. She lives by herself although near family. Her memory's terrible though. She once was telling me a story and answering my questions and at some point she just looped back to the start.

What's a good way to keep track of new VN translations?

*pops up* I remember the last time you kept to one of these self imposed deadlines of yours... Actually no, I don't. -
What's a good way to keep track of new VN translations?
Mr Poltroon replied to voidpointer's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Hmm... Good finding, voidpointer! You truly are a hunter for these things! That aside, I do believe moon is severely outdated, or at least, it much less comprehensive than the previous blog you were shown. That one, too, includes fan translations. -
In the interest of saving everybody's time, I recommend instead reporting what isn't broken. It appears posting is still functional, for starters.

You could try either paying more attention or not taking things literally. Either is sure to solve all your problems.

Take up my strategy and keep changing your avatar between different punching bags.

If it says anonymous, I'd believe the person in question would wish to remain anonymous, no? Why do you think I went to the trouble of covering it up? Regardless, no, that is not the individual in question. The question I'm posing is whether I'm supposed to be able to know who the anonymous individual is, not that it makes much of a difference. You know what's problematic? It's that you're not just following yourself -- which should be impossible to begin with -- you're following yourself twice. It's impossible for regular people to follow someone twice. That means you have literally committed two impossibilities on top of one another. Actually, scratch all that. You know what's really problematic? That you haven't followed me back yet. That's what. Traitorous scum.
-
Does this deserve its own thread? Probably not. Am I supposed to be able to see that anonymous follower? My permissions are traditionally pretty messed up, so regardless of whether I'm supposed to or not, blame @Tay. In a completely unrelated topic, Dergonu has two more followers than I*. Just thought I'd mention it. *Until I followed him myself, that is. Issue has been remedied by our hero of olden times, nohman. Now the math checks out once more**. **Math has been completely ruined. Nevermind. It made sense at the time.

I personally look forward to them trying, and failing (or not), and then having the courage to go at it again and this time: better.

Dergonu vs Eclipsed - VN reading race! The final chapter!
Mr Poltroon replied to Dergonu's topic in The Coliseum of Chatter
I believe in myself who doesn't believe in either of you. I'll eagerly await to see who will be the first to stall it indefinitely. -
As I said, I skipped through it. Thank you regardless.

Baldry Sky 18+ version poll on Sekai Project forums
Mr Poltroon replied to sanahtlig's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Hmm... Reasonably speaking, getting feedback from the majority of their audience, that is, Steam users, sounds like a good idea to me. That's assuming they are the majority of their audience -- and in numbers alone, that seems to be the case. Not quite sure about funding amount though, as more... 'serious' VN fans are generally willing to fork over more money than Steam users. /off-topic -
I am still reading CLANNAD. Unfortunately, something rather annoying has occurred. I probably won't be able to read Kyou's route, ever. The whole premise and idea behind it pains me more to read through than I had anticipated, so I'll probably just skip through it. Things like these make me feel handicapped when reading. Otherwise I maintain an overall average opinion of the VN thus far, liking some moments in the routes and loving the common route very much. Not quite romantic enough for me most of the time, I guess? I'm not even sure what it's missing myself.

Baldry Sky 18+ version poll on Sekai Project forums

How stupid can you be!? Incidentally, I don't quite know how I'd go about voting either.
