  2. Blast! I even read this before there were any replies, but I completely forgot to write some words of acknowledgement. Well, too bad. Looks like I forgot to do so once again.

reminds me of that one EP8 scene in Umineko. lol

  4. Majikoi and Little Busters! are likely to hook you quickly. In both cases, if the start hooks you, then you'll probably enjoy them fully. Yume Miru Kurisu has a plot but it's far from norm. The routes tackle the subjects of Drugs, Bullying and... something else that's probably got to do with going crazy as a youngster. If you're interested in seeing those themes tackled in out of norm ways, try it out! ef ~A Fairy Tale of the Two~ is likely to be an emotional experience, but I haven't fully played it, so I can't properly comment. It did seem to have a slow start, however.
  5. Do you have any suggestions on how to make it better or about what it's lacking?
  6. Which is why they'd cooperate with Edgeworth but not Layton.
  7. Latest game I've been playing has been Professor Layton so... basically nothing changes. Edgeworth will just solve the mysteries by cooperating with Scotland Yard.
  8. Finished a first playthrough of Canvas 2. Predictably, I got to a bad end. Probably missed like one or two events Thankfully, it's easy to orient myself in the VN, so I could probably get into a route with a bit of effort. From what I've seen, the common route and character route are mingled, which I think it really cool. You basically live your life and events unfold around you, but you choose who you hang out with, and hanging out with a person makes you go along their route and even change your demeanour. "Today I'm in a good mood." "Today I'll need to go home early." "Today a new teacher will be coming.". And you live your life around said events. Edit: For instance, you make a promise with your student on one day, and it's completely your choice whether you even remember about it. If nothing else, Canvas 2 has the feeling of agency down pat. Even so, the bad end was pretty not bad and a fairly decent end by itself. It's truly the "You're an upstanding teacher who didn't drag any of his students to bed" end. Edit2: I've finally figured out what this VN excels at. It excels at tying everything together without leaving any gaps. Even if you miss three random events with a character, it won't seem like it because the scenes have small changes in them to reflect what you already know and don't. Basically, it must have taken a hell of a lot of effort to set this all up.
  9. To be completely honest, I am basically ignoring both of these. Lately, my interest in both childish lolis and incest has hit an all time low. You can basically go through the game without meeting most of the 7 or so heroines (or at least, hardly ever seeing them for more than a minute) outside of that blond Elis and Kiri. Now then, I may be praising Canvas 2, but I know for a fact you're a picky eater and I should warn you: I'll eat up any kind of rubbish. Me praising Canvas 2 is worth jack. It's probably a terrible game with nonsensical writing. It's just that I can't tell that kind of thing myself so I'll enjoy any "moe crapfest" that comes in my general direction.
  10. Canvas 2 is waaay better than I expected. I'll bash the translation any day and typos are aplenty, but the Visual Novel itself seems great. I'm not even sure whether I'm on the common route or in a route or whatever, but it's long, it feels like I'm in control, and it feels really well crafted. It feels even more divergent than CLANNAD, and that's one hell of an achievement. The first playthrough, without a walkhrough, of this Visual Novel is truly magical. It feels like you're in control but it's not nearly as messy as CLANNAD. It's marvellous. The issue? I haven't gotten into a real route as far as I can tell, so I don't know how the romance proper will be. Will it be an *enters relationship* *has sex* *the end* sort of thing? I'm hoping not but it's feeling like it. Regardless, even if that were to be the case, I cannot deny that even the daily scenes can feel fairly romantic on occasion. EDIT: Also, a love triangle with two men outside of an otome. This is unprecedented! I, Protagonist-sama, have competition? Outrageous! Completely unrealistic!
  11. I'm currently playing Canvas 2. This is looking better than I thought. It feels like you're in control and, whilst the protagonist might be a terrible teacher, that's not really the focus. It seems like it has got plenty of potential, and when the new teacher was introduced, they handled that better than I expected. I'm probably headed straight for a bad end, with choices like these, but that's fine. I'll just walkthrough my way through later. Finally, Canvas 2 fits my definition of a bad translation, but at least it's not littered with typos! The "emoticons" in the text are so funny and I like the way they handled sound effects. [Open Door] [Close Door] [Bell] [Alarm] Also making steady progress in CLANNAD, having made it all the way to quite a bit into the After Story. I'm sure disaster will strike soon, so here's hoping I get through that quickly and painlessly. But I enjoyed Da Capo I! Except me enjoying it doesn't really mean it's any good... I agree with the general opinion. Da Capo II is better in every aspect except the protagonist. I loved the protagonist from Da Capo I. He was a true lazybones and I'll always admire him for that. If you're going for Da Capo II straight away, you'll miss the in-joke that is Suginami, but he's great even if you don't quite get "the joke". Additionally, heed the advice and just ignore Koko's route. It's not worth it in any fashion. And this is coming from me.
  12. I have now finished Yumina the Ethereal. I rather enjoyed my time with the game, but I couldn't be bothered to bother with its gameplay, so I just cheated my way through. Regardless, here are my impressions, which I write as I listen to one of the game's songs (Spoilers): Ai's Route Yumina's Route True Route Rankings: Great Moments/Quotes:

I have to ask, is one of the characters called "Hum", or...? What is the deal with the "hum" there? Is it someone saying ふむ? (If so, dear lord, that translation.)

Also, I want one of those radars!!! :pyaa:

    2. Mr Poltroon

That "Hum..." means "Hmm...". Which means it could have been a typo or just a weird spelling. I accidentally use "hum" rather often, too, because that's how it is in my native tongue.

      Dergonu

Aha, I see. That does make more sense than it being a weird translation of ふむ :sacchan:

  14. If you want to go for it, definitely. It's got plenty of romance. I think you may like it. At worst it'll be average, really.
  15. I'm parodying the typical manga plot.
  16. Sounds like the plot of this manga I read the other day...
  17. Your opinion is, and has always been, far too radical when compared to mine. I have a very large tolerance, you see, and what little I've played of Ultra Despair Girls looked pretty good. Either way, I now see it is best I get around to it whilst I wait for this anime to finish airing.
  18. Yeah, sorry, I just cannot not disagree with you on any level here. Liberal translations should be eradicated. If you prefer them, just read an English novel to get the best translation of them all! I'm very much exaggerating.
  19. To be frank, Kindred Spirits is as good as light H-Scenes get, although this is Yuri. Assuming this works for you, check out this one. It doesn't have H-Scenes, but it is equally romantic in the same vein as the above. The Second Reproduction does not contain H-Scenes in the truest sense of the word, but the H-Scenes are very much a thing. They simply aren't written. Only the lead-up and what comes after, which are particularly romantic. In Koisuru Natsu no Last Resort they go at it like dogs. What this does have, from what little I've played of it, is considerable pillow talk scenes, so if you're looking for that, those are really good and not something VNs usually focus on (Haven't finished even one route). In ef - a fairy tale of the two., there seems to be about one H-Scene per romanceable interest. As a result, the one H-Scene I did read was quite romantic, and indeed one of the better ones in that department (Have only finished one "route"). I can back up Kurisu-chan in that Key works are typically quite romantic, but the H-Scenes are allegedly bad. The one H-Scene I read in Air didn't spark much of a feeling either way, so I won't dismiss them on those grounds, but I won't recommend them either. As for Sakurai Hikaru's works, I'll talk on behalf of Gahkthun only. The H-Scenes in this title don't focus on romance, they focus on many other matters especially. It has one H-Scene at the end but it felt completely tacked-on to me. I didn't read it, but you might enjoy it if you can put up with the rest of the H-Scenes. ---- Any old Eroge will have romantic H-Scenes, but not all of them give any serious focus to the romance, instead focusing on the sex. For the most part, that is precisely why the H-Scenes are there in the first place. Your best bet are Eroge with only one H-Scene per route, like (unless I'm misremembering) A Profile and Deardrops. Most other Eroge with only one H-Scene compensates by making said H-Scene very long (and some do both, like Noble Works), forgetting the romance entirely and getting caught up in the sex. Hmm... Have you played Kindred Spirits? That is pretty much the definition of romance during sex. A character repeatedly shouting "I love you" not so much. EDIT: It even includes some fairly strong "persuading the heroines into sex"; Even if most Eroge work, I wouldn't ever recommend Noble works. Regardless, I don't know what the OP is looking for absolutely. Perhaps anything will do. I do remember the H-Scenes in Katawa Shoujo were fairly romantic in nature, so much so that I read them back when I'd barely started VNs.
  20. Would you say it would be preferable for me to not have played Ultra Despair Girls whenever I get around to watching this?
  21. I know exactly what you're looking for. That sort of situation usually occurs for the first H-Scene of the game, and any subsequent ones become less and less about the love and more and more about the sex. I can definitely deny both Noble Works and SonoHana on that count. Princess Evangile varies on that count, but it does have some that would be to your taste. I'll think about this some more when I have the time.
