  1. I can't vote because I'm not excited for anything I've played, and enjoyed, many more western RPGs than the few JRPGs I tried. And yet- And yet I find myself voting for JRPGs. I suppose it's because of how much I prefer Japanese archetypes and such?
  2. Thank you, everyone, for your meritorious efforts to aid me. Nisekoi, huh...? I just know I should do it eventually but I'm really really bad at handling harems, and I can just feel my future frustration at dealing with it! Forever SOONTM Kimi no Iru Machi is a strange case. It's one of those manga I've considered reading many a time -- all roads read to it -- but its reviews keep putting me off. They mention drama, and how every chapter ends on some sort of cliffhanger, and characters are shocked all the time, etc. etc. Reviews hardly ever give an accurate depiction (as in, they tend to be more negative than myself), but they do do a good job at killing my motivation. Its length doesn't help its case, either. Sakamichi no Apollon does look good, however. I'd generally opt for the manga right off the bat, but as it seems to be based on music, I'll start with its anime. https://myanimelist.net/anime/357/Bokusatsu_Tenshi_Dokuro-chan It is on my list, you know? As for that second one, its got enough of a premise for me to research further. I am indeed waiting for Horimiya to conclude, I may consider watching Skip Beat's anime... But it's not a premise that I love, after cursory research. It certainly does look interesting... Added to my list. I watched Love Hina. As it never passed through my mind to read its manga, I must have either found the anime conclusive or believed the anime covered the whole of it. I need to investigate whether this is the case. If not, I'll definitely read it. As for Emma, I've already read its main story, but I'm entirely capable of watching it, too. I just need to get around to reading the extra chapters in the manga. I have indeed read Girl Friends, after it being vehemently recommended from multiple sources. Whilst I liked it, I distinctly remember leaving with a feeling of not understanding what warranted its laudation and praise. It was good, but I didn't think it any better than any other Yuri I had read at the time. Gakuen Alice... I was about to start it a couple of times, but was interrupted by what I can only call mere chance. The description of the anime calls it a "heartwarming comedy" which fits me to a Tee. I'll definitely give the manga a try. As for Bitter Virgin, I kicked it out of my list when its multiple reviews mentioned it was dark. Does it... conclude well? Happily ever after? Whilst I've watched Nodame Cantabile, I have never heard of Earl and Fairy, and it does look mighty interesting. Thank you! On the other hand, I found myself disliking Honey and Clover for some mysterious, indiscernible reason the single time I tried it out. I seem to remember @ittaku was of the same opinion or something? Perhaps I'd be better attuned to its manga? Finally, on the topic of Lovely Complex... I'm in the process of rewatching it! I ragequit on about episode 16 the first time I tried, but I fully intend to finish it this time!
  3. Currently playing Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice. Its more vocal fandom is, as usual, divided in whether they love it or hate it. Shocker. Thus far, I do believe I am heavily inclined to the 'love it' category. Shocker x2.
  4. I make way too many of these threads. At least I come across something new and great every time, so it's worth it! More than anime, I would prefer manga recommendations. There are two conditions for either, however. It must be fully finished, or, at least, have a full season/manga out (I have seen manga with manga sequels, but I have no idea what to call those), and it doesn't need to focus on the romance, but it must be a worthwhile factor. Feel free to point it out even if It's on my list, so long as I haven't read/watched it yet. Worthy of note, I am not a fan of sad, depressing, dark, heavy, dramatic things. If all ends well though... Feel free to recommend Chinese and Korean manga are fair game. Yaoi is banned. Anything heavy on H content must be primarily vanilla, though I can put up with a lot of stuff so long as there's love. Just... have mercy.
  5. Mechs need too much maintenance.
  6. No need to build hype on unconfirmed possibilities. 'Tis an unhealthy habit. ...
  7. This looks reaaaaaally good. I'll, uh, keep an eye on it. Not much else an English pleb like me can do.
  8. I've now returned from my trip abroad, which has cleared my head and thoroughly enlightened me.
This new enlightenment then allowed me to change my perspective on things.

  10. Admittedly, yes. For the most part. I don't like drama and dark things, but I'll be the first to admit that they are good "hooks" that induce you to keep reading. Thankfully for me, romance is my biggest hook and that's where this Visual Novel hooks me. I personally prefer when there's no conflict, and I skip through the H-Scenes regardless of their quality. (Wait, are you saying I'm a permanently bored person?!) And I sort of agree, sort of disagree. It's easy to tell which choice connects to each heroine, for the most part. After you get a bad end for the first time you should be able to get it right.
  11. No conflict, no terrible drama, no terrifically dark past... It's heavenly! The resolutions to what small drama there is are also fantastic. An excellent visual novel. If you're into that sort of fluffy, sex-heavy, light moege, that is. (Speaking of which, I still haven't finished it. @Fiddle and company keep me far too busy to read it )

How convenient, the way time elapses in a Visual Novel.

  13. I understand your opinion, but that's not the way you make polls. You can't guilt-trip the ones taking it into choosing the option you want. It wouldn't be an accurate assessment then.
  14. "(You prefer Roman tiles despite how much they can destroy the artwork)", pshh, not biased at all.
  15. ? ...! ... </3
  16. I never reported finishing the VN, which I did. Ages ago. First time in I don't know how long that I actually skipped a whole route. Unfortunately, there was a point where I just couldn't tolerate Mifuyu's route any longer. It hurt too much, and I never saw Mifuyu as romance material sufficiently to put up with it.

I think the boss told them to bolster the line count.

  18. All of those have a depressing tinge to them, I can't handle that! They clearly aren't representative of VNs at large. To begin with, the notion of a "one-size-fits-all" VN that would introduce any person to VNs sounds ridiculous to me. Sometimes people don't even know if they'll like a particular genre -- assuming they're like me and they got into VNs before they got into anime. If they like anime, that makes it even easier. There's all sorts of genres; see what anime a given person likes and introduce VNs in the same vein. There's no one "Starter VN". A list, however, does make more sense. Obviously, these have to consist of good VNs and represent a variety of genres, not a single one: If you gave me your list as an introduction to VNs I'd never have gotten into them. I have no idea what would make good starter VNs, but you'd need to make a much more representative list than those three, to sum up my rambling.
  19. You have got to be joking. I've played loads of VNs and I'm pretty sure I can't 'swallow' any of those you've named. Now you tell me VNs aren't meant for me?

"What should I do...?" she asked.
"I'll be going then," I replied.

  21. Personally, I much preferred the game "Soldier of Fortune" to this "Solider of Fortune" of yours.
  22. So far as I'm aware, and I'd like to think I'm pretty well aware, the Steam version is the same as MangaGamer's. Why, then, was it not censored? So far as I know, and I'd like to think I know pretty well, no inferior genitals are actually displayed at any point, and those are the problematic ones. Therefore, this release pushes every boundary; not that there was that much of a shock wave or coverage over it.
