  1. At least you have a superbowl-capable team. I live in Michigan.
  2. So does this officially make Subahibi the greatest VN ever made by association?
  3. That's an apt comparison, I suppose, but in the world of VNs the top-tier writers such as Masada are probably on the genre fiction level while most of the rest are equivalent to fanfic or worse. I suppose people generally want the least complicated entertainment option available to them.
  4. I've been playing nothing but XCOM 2 for the last few days. Maybe tomorrow I can finish my first campaign. I started it on the Commander difficulty (classic/hard mode) and it feels like a lot of fights are becoming trivial. Although it's annoying that it feels like taking some damage is unavoidable in almost every mission and the injury timers are really high, I guess they want you to have a deeper roster than the one I've been going with.
  5. The real high-level shit is to click through when you're done reading the line but to also toggle on the option to keep voices playing on click, so you still get the feel for the voices while speed reading.
  6. Moogy is pulling for it right off the bat. Nothing I've read about Parfait makes it seem particularly unique. But I can only surmise that with all of the acclaim it receives, it must be in the top tier of its class.

    Hearthstone

There's a neat event today that's still ongoing, a sealed deck tournament: http://www.twitch.tv/redbullesports/v/41442600 This is something I'd like to see officially supported but I don't think it ever will be. The idea was really cool, but the production on the event was awful with some terrible casters and really bad production issues. If you don't know what the sealed deck format is, basically players open up something like 50 packs in a simulated environment and then build three decks out of those packs (plus basic cards in this event, I think?). The simulated pack opening included adventure cards as well. It's like something in-between Arena and Ranked. I'd like to see a sealed tournament from a crew who actually knows how to put on an event. It's a super popular format in MtG and I'm surprised it's taken this long for someone to attempt it in Hearthstone.
  8. Having a VN in a window is fine, but 640x480 is so small... I have to lean in so close to my monitor to read that shit.
  9. lol like really laughing hard right now. edit: Umineko can be an interesting look at how people may react when placed into extreme situations they aren't able to fully comprehend. Most people probably won't be able to act logically. Since you're right near the end of Episode 1, you should at least read Episode 2 as well, then maybe the point of umineko will become clear.
  10. Hatsuyuki Sakura is said to have one of the best nakige stories outside of key. It's not really pure moeblob drivel.
  11. "Groundbreaking" doesn't have to mean "forces Valve to change their stance and rules," it can simply mean "is the first to do a thing." In fact, that's what it usually means! And it's still good and exciting, even if it doesn't bring on a complete revolution, because they're pushing the boundaries of what has been done previously. And now, maybe more VN devs/publishers will be willing to take things a little further than they previously have been?
  12. The fact that people think it is groundbreaking means it is groundbreaking. Basically, if you can show it to an average Steam user and they go "whoa, what the heck, what's this doing on Steam??" then it clearly means it's doing something people don't expect out of a Steam game. And while it's certainly pretty tame, there's still no other VN on Steam to go as far as it in their sex scenes.
  13. Well, Aroduc liked BB2 a lot more than BB1. He seems to like BB3 less though and there are major technical hurdles to getting that translated, so it may stay untranslated for a while.
  14. It is entirely possible that Navel is no longer interested in western releases. The way I've heard some people at MG talk about requests for Tsuriotsu makes it sound like it's not really possible for unexplained reasons. I could be reading too much into that. I still put it on my list of three games.
  15. Yeah, them using the .007% chance thing as an indicator of it most likely being something else makes me laugh, because what are the odds of literally anything happening in space?
  16. The Phoenix Wright series and/or Aviary Attorney. ... DanganRonpa? I mean, it's not exactly nothing but funtimes, but for a murder mystery story, it takes itself very lightly. I guess the same can be said for the PW series.
  17. I can understand why people demand 18+ content in romance VNs and shit, and I understand why people are not happy with large amounts of content being removed from Aselia like the evil route, but to just straight up be like "I won't play an RPG unless it has porn in it" is kind of baffling to me. I mean, I guess at the end of the day, you do you, but man, I don't get it.
  18. Well, the purpose is to experience the game and story, like every other video game ever made... Do you people just not play any regular games at all?
  19. Ultimately, cutting out the h-scenes would be pretty easy in the large majority of Yuzusoft games. They'll have to do it themselves with everything other than Tenshin Ranman, but my experience is that when a western company does that, they leave in a lot more than when the original Japanese companies port to PSP/Vita. I guess it all depends on Tenshin Ranman's performance.
  20. That would be silly because DR is outside of MG's territory. edit: I suppose most people are just throwing pie-in-the-sky ideas at MG anyways instead of realistic ones (which isn't helpful to them at all, btw), but if you really want Dracu-Riot to be licensed then bug Sekai Project, not MangaGamer.
  21. There's an Akane route... in the Plus Communication version. There are a crapton of routes in that version, actually, too bad there's no english version. MangaGamer's refusal to translate the bonus DC2 content has always disappointed me. The Koko's route is pure shit. Everyone involved acts like an idiot and the number of times they postpone their eventual confession of love is nearly record-breaking. So incredibly frustrating. Also, you mean "Minatsu," lol.

    Hearthstone

We can't say for sure which classes are affected most until we know the nerfs to the classic/basic set that are happening, and what the next expansion's cards look like. This is a HUGE change, though. I suspect "standard" will be the main mode of play for most people, and so many cards are being removed. People are complaining about Healbot, Sludge Belcher, and Zombie Chow going, but of course cards like Haunted Creeper are getting the cut, too, so that side of things will mostly balance out. If anything, this is the opportunity Blizzard needed to really drastically slow the meta down if they add some good anti-aggro tools in the next expansion. Druid seems barely affected, but it's pretty certain that some Druid cards are getting nerfed. I wouldn't be surprised if Ancient of Lore and Savage Roar both get hit. Blizzard is mainly worried about the Druid class being stagnant, and no new cards are ever better than their original Classic cards. That said, there's no real room to nerf Swipe or Wrath so those are sticking around in every druid deck ever. But probably the most important thing they need to do in the next expansion is to release some strong Warrior cards, because I believe they're being hit the hardest by this. Maybe they could transition Warrior to being more aggressive? It would be kind of boring if they released Shieldmaiden 2.0 so Warrior could continue being the turtling class.
  23. Also Tomoyo After and Little Busters are getting official releases. It's probably just badly worded, they knew that Key was interested in the west. A JAST guy responded to me on twitter saying that they thought Key was SP's territory but even that's not really true these days. SP released Planetarian and Clannad, and now Key seems to have moved on. They're doing Harmonia themselves, and two different outside companies are working on Tomoyo After and Little Busters, so they'll probably just go with the best offer.
  24. Eh, P3 was a VERY different game from P2. The differences were much more profound than the similarities. P4 was a minor divergence from P3, if anything.
  25. Started playing Aviary Attorney. I liked it a lot, but after playing for a few hours I'm kinda bouncing off of it. The writing is funny and sometimes pretty clever, and the story gets darker than you might expect. But the characters are also all pretty shallow. They're just there to deliver the punchlines, it seems. And while it's funny, I don't know if it's funny enough to carry the whole experience. I think I want something that feels more engaging right now.
