Conjueror's Untranslated Visual Novel Tournament [Discussion]
Decay replied to Maxel's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I'd vote for WA2 over Baldr Sky. But that first vote is largely meaningless, it was just a fun thing he did that spawned the idea, it doesn't have any influence on the tournament. -
Conjueror's Untranslated Visual Novel Tournament [Discussion]
Decay replied to Maxel's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Baldr Sky is a seeded game, so it gets to skip the group stages. Check out the full blog post on the tournament here: https://vnrw.wordpress.com/2016/01/22/most-desired-visual-novel-translation/ Baldr Force won its group vote so it's going to be put into the A1 spot on those brackets, which comically enough puts it very close to Baldr Sky. -

Am I high or are you guys high? Baldr Force wasn't up against Dies irae, Dies irae is a seeded game and we're in the group stages still. And once the bracketed phase begins they won't even be in the same brackets! Baldr Force is still alive and well in this tournament. -

Majikoi A Translation Project Discussion
Decay replied to twdarkeh's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
I'm actually kind of amazed that they chose for her to have a route in A-4. It seemed kind of... random? Did she win some kind of poll in Japan or something? -
They probably just don't want to explain what a fandisc is. "Sequel" is much easier to understand and sell to people, even though it's a bit off the mark.

OriginalRen's 2 Year Fuwanovel Reflection (22/01/16)

I actually didn't realize Ren wasn't one of the 2013 dinosaurs. -

I don't know what the budget of S was compared to the original, but I always imagined it was actually quite a bit higher. The animated sequences are actually pretty decent and those cost a pretty penny to produce. -

CD Projekt Red eat your heart out, Alice Soft and BBH are coming for your title. -
No One But You is quite bad. It's short but somehow I still can't finish it, it just repels me with every fiber of its being. My only regret is that I couldn't finish my review sooner to save some people's money. Apparently some people here are buying it?? Madness. Don't do that, it's not worth it. It's just poorly written, to get the most important aspect out of the way. It enters into this weird uncanny valley-like territory where they mix in some natural-sounding english expressions into a sea of bland and unnatural dialogue. The few bits of stuff that isn't bad just highlights how bad the rest is. I think I'd prefer stiff J -> E translations over this. Simply put, the dialogue is absolutely cringeworthy. Maybe if the plot was good, I could stand to suffer the constant cringing, but it's really not. Maybe I could easily power through this if the production values were good, but they're not. NOBY is obviously a half-finished VN that really has no right being sold as it is. The art is pretty bad. The sprites are okay, but the backgrounds are literally half-finished and are full of horrible-looking placeholder art. The music is really grating and some of the songs sound so amateurish I wouldn't be surprised if much of it were placeholder tunes composed by someone who has never made music before. And there are occasional typos in the script, too. It all makes me kind of reluctant power through and finish it so I can write a proper review, but if people here are actually buying this turd then maybe I should just grit my teeth and get back to it.

There's one h-scene and it immediately ends after it. It's not worth doing really, but it would only take up 15 minutes of your time.

Steam is not special, its just another website

Tell all of this to MangaGamer, whose sales increased dramatically by putting stuff on Steam. -
Not necessarily ladies man, but he's the type that's exclusively nice to ladies, and they sometimes call those types feminists in Japan. Translating it as feminist in english doesn't really carry the same meaning.

Root Double- Before Crime * After Days - Kickstarter launched!
Decay replied to Decay's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I suppose the Uchikoshi promotion really helped. I believe Root Double now surpassed where Libra was at this far into the campaign. But Libra's campaign was a bit longer and had some good spikes in the end. Still, this is a good pace and they can make the goal if this keeps up. -

I believe Dowolf is moving on to A-2 for the time being. I suppose the fact that he did so shows that they still have some hope that Storyteller will finish the Azumi route. -
They both have that "fish out of water" element where the protagonist is a poor kid thrust into a preppy school. PE and Noble Works are both basically moege but PE definitely takes its drama more seriously. Not like super deadly seriously, but NW kind of treats its drama rather lightly. Also, NW is just straight-up funnier, probably the most important aspect to a moege.

vn release Gahkthun of the Golden Lightning released!
Decay replied to Decay's topic in Visual Novel Talk
There was a bit more talk that was unfortunately nuked in the forums database rollback a couple weeks ago. But yeah, people are pretty quiet about this game. Most people seem to like it, but hardly anyone is giving it a shot. -
It's all about exposure. Over a hundred million people use Steam. Thousands of (very dedicated) people shop at MangaGamer. MangaGamer's games used to sell a few thousand copies if they were particularly good sellers, and less than a thousand if they were bad sellers. Nowadays, a few thousand is almost the baseline for Steam numbers. Although VNs are still a really tiny niche, being on Steam gives them much greater potential for sales than being off of it. That's why everyone is flocking to it, now that they figured that out. Well, this is pretty besides the point, that SP has a partnership with Akabei Soft, the company that released the game the OP wants translated, and Moogy, a translator who is involved with this process, stated that SP wanted to work on something else but AS is making them release the currently fan translated stuff officially, first. And Moogy also said he was unhappy with the SnK translation and wanted to redo large parts of it. So... yeah, I guess we'll be waiting a while. And all of this is besides the OP's point, that he wants someone to translate Time Leap. Sorry, but nobody really takes translation requests for VNs. VNs have massive amounts of text and takes months of the translators' lives to translate.
-
No, they wouldn't, because that would be a pretty insane expectation. Censored versions available on Steam always outsell the uncensored versions available on MangaGamer, J-List, Denpasoft, etc. Of course they'd want to prioritize the version that sells better, the censored one.

Decay replied to Decay's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I'm as big of a Steins;Gate fanboy as they come and I thought it was just fine? You're making a mountain out of a molehill, here. -
Because AS won't let them translate anything else until they release G-Senjou and SnK on Steam.
