I suggest posters here read more than one side of this story before commenting. Down's post is a good start. The Giant Beastcast, a podcast from Giant Bomb, also had a decent conversation about this issue in their latest episode. I suppose some of their points might rub people here the wrong way, particularly pertaining to their definition of censorship. http://www.giantbomb.com/podcasts/beastcast/ (timestamp: 53:45) In my opinion, this seems like manufactured drama. Places like Play-Asia are trying to make an enemy out of someone so they can easily rally a movement behind their cause, and also get people to notice them and sell more copies of the import, of course. I've never actually seen anyone call for the DoAX series to not be sold so I doubt that was actually a factor in the decision making process.

vn release Gahkthun of the Golden Lightning released!
Decay replied to Decay's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I think they'd rather translate Sona-nyl and Valusia first. MangaGamer is adverse to licensing already-translated works in the first place and both of the other more recent untranslated steampunk games are more highly regarded than the currently translated ones. And then by that time, the next Steampunk game will be out. Which reminds me, the upcoming one isn't being handled by Liarsoft. They might not be able to secure the licenses if they want to release any of the steampunk VNs made by Sakurai in the future. Well, this is all theoretical in the first place. Gahkthun as to actually sell well, first. -
I don't think those are spoilers you literally do those stuff like 10 min into the game :/ No, he's referring to something else. I don't think it's really spoilers at this point, this is the main reason people like the game and I don't think people should hide the absolute basics. The part you're familiar with comprises only half of the VN. The other half is very different. There's still some sexual deviancy prevalent throughout it, but it's more diluted.

Holy shit, I'd even go as far as to say the beginning is Cross Channel tier slow, I think it's cuz we as the reader just want to dive into Reiji's shit already, especially since they spend the first 5 seconds recapping KnS1, but nope, gotta spend the next half hour to worldcraft a new location and 10 side(?) charactersAt least Satsuki's interesting, though, what's this strange feeling I'm getting >the next half hour Look how optimistic you are. Try 5 hours.

I decided I would buck the trend and post a screenshot of someone else, but then I went to my screenshot folder and saw they were all of Sunohara. Oops. I guess this one technically counts because it's a Tomoya line! (of course he does it) I got through Misae's route and halfway through Tomoyo's route. Misae's route kind of sucked. It was longer than I was expecting what with the flashback, I forgot all about that sequence of events from the anime. The romance between Tomoya and Misae could not have been more underwhelming and cringe-worthy. And then there was no resolution?? wtf. Anyways, I put this on pause so I can play and finish euphoria first.

I like how every screenshot in this thread is of Sunohara.

Steamspy's numbers are up to 6,210 ± 1,894. Again, though, this is very inaccurate so take it with a grain of salt. Their tend to fluctuate up and down. Still, this is closer to what I was expecting after I saw what position it was in, based on how the games above and below it were also selling at the time. To put this into perspective, I doubt Kara no Shoujo 2 has broken 1000 sales yet. That is what the VN market has traditionally been like. To see a $40+ VN sell thousands of copies within the first week is pretty absurd and nobody would have believed it a year ago. It will probably have a pretty decent tail, especially if they plan to discount it aggressively during major sale events. Good on SP, I guess. I hope they put this money to good use. Maybe spend a few bucks on the Denpasoft side of things... Key fans should probably be pretty happy. I bet Visual Arts can't wait to get Little Busters and Rewrite out there, and to start work on Angel Beats. Too bad for SP that they're being cut out of the picture now. I'm not sure how Dovac managed to lose control of this money tree.

I agree with a lot of your complaints about KnS1. Thankfully, KnS2 resolves most of them. For example, your ending is based on the choices you make and not who you visit in the location selections. As far as I can tell, those are just for flavor in KnS2. It makes the branching system easier to understand and work with.

There is. It's the bottom right button on the main interface.

The screen flipping issue was actually fixed like three weeks ago with the first patch.

English generally doesn't give a shit about the plural form of loanwords. Never has, never will. However, "cactuses" is still a perfectly valid word. "Flexible" would be the kind way to describe the English language. It barely matters what you do, really, just as long as it makes sense. Don't let the grammar nazis get you down, especially not the weeaboo grammar nazis.

Elfen Lied is slightly less garbage than the Sakura series. Slightly. -
[] enabled [] and discouraged proper fansubbing efforts because they simply uploaded the first release they found on [] and provided no alternatives. So hey, can't say this is necessarily a bad thing. Well, not that I think fansubbing will suddenly come back in full force, of course it won't, but maybe now that more people will have to go back to using torrents they'll put some effort into finding and downloading the best available subs. edit: Although I doubt [] is much better about this and they'll probably pick up all the [] users, so my hopes will likely be in vain.

It's unknown and that data isn't very reliable. You have to give it more than a day or two to get a complete picture.

Consider Life is Strange as well, it's only $13 and probably better than every Telltale game other than TWD s1 and Tales from Borderlands. I don't super love it or anything but it's a pretty good one of those, especially if you're some VN-and-anime-addled moron like me who has a thing for high school settings. Got it, played it, I'll complete episode 5 one of these daysTM I have this really weird thing that makes it so that the closer I am to finishing something the more likely I am to drop it indefinitely. It's really weird. I have the same thing. I dropped Final Fantasy X halfway through the final dungeon never to return. I want to get the true end in Kara no Shoujo 2 but I started rereading Grisaia instead...

Around 10.5 months between the end of the kickstarter and the release of the game. However, keep in mind a few things. There were both multiple translators and multiple editors on the Clannad translation, which is unusual for professional translations. Little Busters was also licensed by a different company. LB also has a mostly complete script they'll be basing their release off of. They are very different kinds of projects and we can't really draw any conclusions on how long LB will take to release based on Clannad's production.

onomatope*'s lastest title - Kyuuketsuki no Libra - is coming to Steam

Makina has multiple bizarre speech habits. Desu is one of those, and it was taken into account when formulating her manner of speech in english. It's something Koestl actually spent a lot of time putting together. You can't just copy that style for any other character who overuses that word. I don't have any great examples off-hand so here's a random out-of-context screenshot of no pertinence to anything, because I just feel like posting it anyways: I guess the point is that you don't translate it directly, but it still gets translated anyways if you do your job right. That is, you break down the character and find a writing style that works in english and best matches her personality, weird speech tics and all, and rebuild from the ground-up using that style. -

My favorite part is the third screenshot on the Highschool Possession page where whoever drew the penis somehow drew it upside down. I anticipate this being a top seller on release. -

This thread has already discussed plenty of ways to handle that word. Unless you're saying they're all wrong? #desugate rages on. -

Some of you have interpreted the "dumpster" part of "throw your reaction gifs and memes into a dumpster" in a manner which I anticipated and heartily endorse. Here's another one for you guys for future Winged Cloud threads: That one's a freebie, on me. On a similar note to the Sakura games, AJTilley's latest game is coming out soon, and this one looks just as insipid as the rest! Many of you who are cowering in fear of the Sakura series aren't aware of your surroundings enough to realize the true horror lurking out there known as AJTilley. You all wished for Winged Cloud's downfall and in their place we could be getting something far more insidious. As of now, the gem known as Highschool Romance has been topping the MangaGamer charts for a solid two weeks. Welcome to your new hell. edit: What's number 5? If you guessed Kara no Shoujo 2, wrong! -
"Saw," "Brilliant," ehh..... Well, if you think Saw is brilliant then yeah, Euphoria might be right up your alley. There is a story. I haven't played it yet so I don't know how good it is, but there is one, and some people seem to like it.

Simple answer: Because people keep buying them.
