Well, to be fair its (untranslated) predecessor was 18+ and I think they were trying at least a little bit more than most otome games to pull in a male audience.

There are a lot of these actually, they're referred to as "otome" games and are usually sappy romance titles aimed at teenage girls. There are only a few games with female protagonists that can be said to have cross-genre appeal. Many of the games in Liarsoft's Steampunk series are in this category, such as Shikkoku no Sharnoth and the upcoming Gahkthun, coming out in just a couple days. I don't think the artist for the Sakura Beach and Sakura Santa games does h-scenes. I looked at her portfolio and it seemed like there wasn't a single erotic work there.

Sometimes you don't need a story, you just need to be funny and charming. Not that I expect this will be that in any way.

I don't think MangaGamer is going to be helping with the actual writing, and I also kinda doubt that would be a surefire sign of improvement. They translate, not write, would they have anyone good enough for that kind of thing available? But MangaGamer did say that they would do some editing and proofreading for the sakura games from now on. It doesn't sound like anything major, but they should hopefully read at least a little bit better now.

Just as a general rule of thumb, you won't ever have a scoop of this magnitude for your entire life. If someone tells you something that feels like a big deal, but there aren't any news sites reporting on it, it's bogus.

Tyrael is much nicer to this game than I would have been. I think the art is abject shit.

Clock Up has some surprisingly talented writers on staff. I was thinking that when I read euphoria, too. The dialog in that was probably the best part of the game and it took me by surprise. But they also have a habit of being "indulgent," as you say. I know some people like Tyr will vehemently disagree with me on this, but Clock Up definitely overly-sexualizes their more serious stories. It's kind of disappointing to see that Maggot Baits falls prey to the same things as their past games.

I've said some things about this in the past (in the commentary section near the bottom). I think it had the potential to be decent, but the translation is so frustratingly bad that it's impossible to derive any enjoyment out of it. I would not recommend it for anyone unless you're some kind of masochist who enjoys reading machine translation. It has gotten a little better over the months with some minor script revisions but they weren't nearly impactful enough to change my opinion on it.

A-1 through 4 are. And keep in mind they only had to translate like half of S. This is a comparatively much huger project they're tackling.

They're announcing A-5's release date on Friday and the last couple have had their dates announced pretty close to release. It will probably come out next month. So if you want to skip around a little, I don't think many would complain about getting a Yoshitsune route sooner. You know, just saying.

I disagree. Kazuki's clairvoyance extends heavily into "impossible" territory.

None of this really conflicts with my observations on the game, it's just down to a matter of whether or not you think there's subtext.
