Sekien no Inganock- VN Reading Club, August
Suzu Fanatic replied to Kaguya's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I'm about an hour in - and I can't believe I've let this sit in my backlog for so long! I think I'm going to really enjoy this, just what I needed to pull me out of the bored slump I've been in lately~ -
A very special gift in this week's VNTS post

Confession: I've trapped myself into a cycle of passive consumption the last few weeks -_- (I've done nothing in my spare time except surf forums and watch youtube vids). I haven't played a game or read a VN in almost two months, I feel my brain starting to groan lol... Just can't seem to get myself motivated into doing any active stuff, I look at my massive backlog of games/vns and go "meh". then go back to random surfing. Such a waste of my precious time off

What are you listening to right now?

Siiiiiiiiiigh~ Someday....maybe? At least there are no language barriers when it comes to understanding music. -
Most memorable emotional moments in VN's
Suzu Fanatic replied to Corvosier's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I can think of a ton, esp from the obvious ones like Clannad, and other big titles - but I think the one that stands out in my memory the most, comes out of left field as Da Capo 2. (end game spoiler) -
Well, can't really tell you, because I won't read it until I've finished the trilogy - but I will say this, I like Michuru as a character (alot), so I'm personally looking forward to her and her antics, even if it turns out to be a brainless story. That by itself should satisfy me. But, I get the impression it is a lot more lighthearted then the actual trilogy - so depends if that's your cup of tea~ If you've read at least Fruit of Grisaia and know what she's like, that should help you decide. Though, If you choose to read it right away, she (and the other characters) may have a slightly different style, due to the change in translators - but like Conjueror said, the screenshots at least look like decent writing quality.

Mmm, I'm curious to see how Himawari localization will unfold.

1. I recall reading a post from Dovac on the SP board saying they were not able to mention anything about the +18 GnK (besides the the tech issue he showed) until Otakon. Sounds like Frontwing def. played a part somehow. A major win to get them to localize, but apparently with a ton of strings attached... (hell, look at the ChiruChiru release, that was Frontwing. I suspect SP is silently cringing at the release) 2. Gotta love bullshit double-standard society mindset. If a game focused on killing (which is about 90% of games) instead of sex, no one would bat an eyelash.

http://www.extremete...-skype-contacts Posted that earlier in the thread, but thought i'd point it your way. By design it puts a pretty big hole in being secure (at least if you are on a wifi network/router).

Huh, I thought I had read him tweet about doing such things. Unless I'm misremembering the context. Would the originals really be required? I've seen some pretty high-quality "decensors" of CGs that started out pixelated. Wouldent permission to modify be all that is required?

Obviously sex scenes will be cut from the steam release, Steam is pretty much an American business - and has to watch it's ass due to laws regarding porn distribution etc. I think people are more harping on the idea of cut plot content - but that's more or less a decision of a dev, not the distributor. @Sanah: I doubt it'll be demosiaced, unless they get Doddler to draw for them like he has for MG, heh~ @Decay ah I see it too - maybe they'll smooth those out with a engine filter.
-
What exactly has he cut thus far? I don't really want to start anything, But you seem to misunderstand a great deal. Last I saw, Sunrider academy was uncut on Denpa, as was Nekopara vol 1. Both games that were intended to have adult releases. GnK was "cut" to begin with. The version on Steam was the VITA VERSION, it was "cut" when it was made in japan - SP had nothing to do with it being "cut". This isn't the same bullshit that moenovel pulled. Furthermore, Frontwing count the Vita version and the +18 pc version as seperate licences - along with other behind-the-scenes complications. So where do you base you opinion and idea that SP is going to "cut" anything from a adult release of G Senjou? (or anything else for that matter)

EDIT: thread is going too offtopic, sorry for the derail

Eh, regardless of my personal feelings for any one company, if I want to see a market flourish, I need to help support it. Or if nothing else, I want to buy a copy to balance out the fact my version is not legit.

A random tweet made a interesting point "I'm wondering if the only thing keeping them afloat is their artist..." And honestly it's true - she could charge them more if she wanted to - unless she has a contract agreement of some kind with them now. (I know initially she was comissioned by them through Deviant Art.

Wonder if Devil on gstring will also be available there? I mean, I already have the uncut version and will likely only buy the Steam version for the sake of my Steam collection, but I'm sure new fans will want the adult version.

Sekai Project depends on crowdfunding entirely too much
Suzu Fanatic replied to douggle's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Call me a pragmatist, but I think it's well within their rights as a business. Though as a fan of VNs, and a consumer - I obviously am not happy about it. -
Not really a VN subject, but anyone running win 10 may want to look this over: http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/209208-windows-10s-new-wifi-sense-shares-your-wifi-password-with-facebook-outlook-and-skype-contacts Thought I'd post it for you guys, make sure you're not broadcasting you wifi pw to some random facebook guy/etc.

Tempted to read it, but I'll hold off until the other two come out at the very least. Sopposedly there are no direct spoilers, but characters the reader "should" know are all over - no point in me finding characters I don't currently know about.
