  1. Propeller seems like a believable path for MG. Of course, that might just be wishful thinking on my part, wanting to read their other titles besides Ayakashibito. Have to agree about Type-Moon being a pretty unlikely thing - I just don't think any current distributor could handle whatever price TM would ask for - assuming if they ever consider oversea sales. Then again, never say never, right? I did not expect Key or Alicesoft to open their doors, afterall~ Though I will throw out a baseless theory; Beasts Lair project pages have pretty much gone silent for over a month now, when previously the posts were going strong on a daily basis (though don't read into too much, likely just a lull). Also - and this is a complete tinfoil hat theory - perhaps there are deeper reasons to the forever-stalled Mahoutsukai no Yoru. Though that idea is completely just my selfish desire rather then it being real, heh.
  2. "Directly when I Michiru. Descended silver of light cut through the pitch-black darkness soon, the curtain of the demise visit. Blood that flowed in the final decisive battle, it is evaporated in the burn out fate, a new world, the food of new of covenant. The Linnaeus does stop anymore. Still, whether that antidepressant?" Bleh, machine Tl sure doesn't pull any punches~ Assumptions can be made - but I'll just wait and see what is revealed before I voice my guesses.
  3. Nicely done - another title I was sure would sit in the void. Thank you very much.
  4. To DEENs credit, I loved the music in their version far more then UFO's UBW series. (which confused me, as UFO had good music in Fate/Zero - wonder why they switched to so such a generic set of tracks in UBW? Obviously a handful of exceptions, but otherwise a forgettable soundtrack.)
  5. Still in Part 2 of Puchin's route. I want to make some serious progress for once, but I keep getting distracted by stuff
  6. 1) Heavens feel (though Rin is my favorite FSN girl). I do not accept "sacrifice one for the many" - at least when it comes to the Fate series. Be that self-sacrifice, or otherwise. 2) I reccomend watching everything that's come out so far, even the studio Deen t.v. version. (largely unpopular due poor adaptation) Fate/Zero, which is a prequel to the Story, and involves Emiya's late stepfather, and the new UBW series (while my least favorite story, still a great watch - UFOTable really knows what it's doing). And of course the Heavens Feel movie(s) once out 3) Not sure - sounds like you missing stuff though. Realta Nua version? Or the original version with Mirrormoons patch? 4) Lol...I hear you loud and clear... I still can't bring myself to read it again >_>
  7. SNIP (doubleposted like a noob )
  8. That's why I like concepts that at least aim for the middle ground instead of implementing a heavy-handed kidgloves approach: (taken from their kickstarter page): As for my thoughts on Eien no Aselia I tend to agree with Decay, you should at least give it a read and decide for yourself. I actually enjoyed it despite the cut content. I do not feel the sexuality played a very large role, unless you hoped to play through the cut-out "evil" route. They modified the context well enough that it never felt like it was missing anything.
  9. I knew it was a joke post - I was just wanting to explore the subject for the sake of knowledge and amusement, but nobody wanted to play with me *sobs and hides in the corner* . . . O.k.!m all better now EDIT: \/ \/ \/ Well, aren't we full of ourselves? I sought a friendly discussion, and you apparently chose to behave like a snob - and employ passive-aggressive nonsense - no skin off my back at the end of the day, I have the luxury of choosing who I converse with.
  10. Hmm, but if a derivative work cannot be accessed without the original copy - wouldn't it almost fall under the lines of a "game mod" (for the sake of the fact the medium in question is technically a program)? I mean, this isn't some PDF file or any other direct document that just any John Doe can access and read, which is more in line with what your referenced article articulates. However, If the work was distributed WITH the original program, with the intentions of enabling indiscriminate access - that is something I could see as a clear breach. But, ultimately - any/all fan tls belong to the VN devs as intellectual property. Not really something that can be argued, short of a serious oversight on the part of said companies.
  11. Eh, I think that's how inarticulate people talk. Not like that is any kind of insult, mind you - people just talk all kinds of ways. But there are plenty (myself included) that subconsciously use more complex English in everyday conversations. I get it though, reading comprehension and big words scare the masses. (I kid, I kid)
  12. Ah, I was never really sure on that. I can see why I guess. But feels like a pretty murky area though.
  13. Bear with me while I play devils' advocate - and simply ask this: How many people do you suppose would have (or already) actually legitimately purchased said Rance games, pre/post release of Fan TL patchs? I'm sure there are some, but I suspect a even larger portion find "alternate methods". It's easy to feel wronged or like something has been taken away from us, when a TL is stalled/stopped due to official interference (like the brief Majikoi scare, where I myself was irritated about Jast and if it was gonna muck up the patch release). But honestly, I question if the sense of entitlement is justified? I mean, for those that actually bought legit copies - "that" I can understand - but those are the only people that really have a right to feel cheated. *gets off his high-horse, before he breaks his neck from hypocrisy* :3 (note this line of thought is merely looking at the box from the outside, not necessarily a personal opinion, be gentle with me ) Now, having posed that angle of debate, I will express that I personally find it inexcusable for even a business - be that SP, MG, or Jast to freeze Fan TL projects, as if they infringe on copyright. At worst, it's competing - but that's it - it's not piracy, under the (very) generous assumption the people using the patch have legally obtained copies of the games. Nor is it some open-source textfile that just anyone can read - a user typically NEEDS the game for a TL to work, so the scanlation/subbing/Youtube uploads line of thought is invalid. Unless there's some shaky legal ground that says "only X - which has received express permission from Dev. Z, can translate game Y", I can't see what provides the legal authority to C&D a translation. For example - if I wanted to TL something for my own private use, no one - not a dev or anyone else - can tell me not to. Because I (hopefully) paid for it fair and square and own all rights to it, including what I do with it. Now, take that a step further, say I know some people that purchased copies of the games for themselves - maybe they just like collect stuff they'll never be able to read, who knows? And I decide "hey these guys might like to do more then stare at moonrunes and look at hscenes", I'll let them have this patch I made, so they too can understand "GWAHAHAHA" and other such thought provoking lines." As I'm about to hand over the patch - company X walks up to me "nope, we are going to have to ask you to stop that right there, only we are allowed to provide a translation...at a fee, of course. *insert evil grin here*. Me: "But they already paid?" Them: "They paid for the Japanese version, they did not pay for the English version, which is under our juristiction, now." *insert evil laughter*. Wow...this post went all random on me near the end.. well, enjoy! or not!
  14. I think this describes my reaction best: EDIT: ah, didn't realize this thopic was getting on in age, ah well
  15. Bleh, Ageha's is by far the worst in the story imo. Might be due to the poor TL and editing - but it just wasen't my thing. Kotori though - now that was a good story.
  16. Something that's been nagging at the back of my mind. Sometimes, you will see a VN get all kinds of public attention - LPs by major twitch and Youtube personalities, sometimes reviews from the more mainstream sites such as Kotaku. And then in at least one particular case I am thinking of - there is nothing, zilch, it's like it never even happened. As my two main examples, I bring forth Princess Evangile as the spotlight-grabber - and The Fruit of Grisaia as the ugly duckling. (Now, I want you to set aside the matter of Fruit initially existing as a Fan TL - as the kind of exposure I am discussing involves a group of people that typically have nothing to do with VNs in the first place, and thus have little knowledge on the stuff going on "behind the scenes".) Also, keep in mind *both* are priced around the 40$ mark. And also, both are "all-ages" on Steam. What are your thoughts? Did SP simply fail to advertise and market Fruit? Did they not provide review copies to the right people (or did they not even receive petitions?). So far, only two Curators have said anything on Steam, and other then some small-scale blog reviews, nothing of note touched on Fruit on the internet. Or does it boil down to a more basic element, such as the imagery presented, or the story description? Or did they simply ignore the title they cannot mock as easily? (my personal opinion, disregard I liked Princess Evangile, but a lot of the exposure it got could be considered "bad but good" as it was often the butt of typical ridicule that goes with a non-fan of anime watching anime) But even then, at least it was attention, right? Curious what you people think - like I said, it's been bugging me, as Grisaia was a hugely anticipated title, and it jsut kinda, stumbled in without any fanfare. Or do we just chalk it up to being a fickle market?
  17. Picked up my copy the moment I saw it. :3 no regrets!
  18. I liked Demonbane's page the most - not so much for the layout, but the imagery; I'm a big softie when it comes to scenes of heartfelt closeness.
  19. And that's why opinions are like ***holes, everyone has one. For my own, I was tempted to drop Rewrite because the common route lacked anything engaging, and tried for way too long and too hard to be "funny" - whereas Grisaia at least had enough foreshadowing into each heroines story to keep me interested. And the mixture of seriousness and humor just felt a better blend. This is one of those situations where no one will ever universally agree on a VN being "good" or "bad", there will always be exceptions. So, asking "what makes it so good?" is completely pointless, due to the subjectivity of a persons tastes and what they want/get out of a story.
  20. To celebrate some awesome announcements from AX :3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjNPeKgLnC8
