  3. Greetings people of Fuwanovel There have been many ups and downs on these forums over the past couple of years, Loligeddons, MIAs, deaths, 1 star reviews, rollbacks... But never mind that. ~~ Let's reflect on our individual histories and experience with VNs *INHALE* When I first started reading VNs in Spring 2014, I was a devoted follower to the Cult of Moe. The "happy feels" were just too gud to pass up. KonoSora - Ohh my gawd when I booted this shit up and A New World played, it really did feel like I was entering a new world~~ Little Busters HoshiMemo The partial patches of Noble Works and Dracu-Riot All things I considered top tier VNs during this time Then I reached the glory ages in late 2014, knocking out my current top 3: Rewrite, Steins;Gate, and Grisaia no Kajitsu. These three will forever be my holy trinity. Played a variety of VNs by Summer 2015: Symphonic Rain, Yumina the Ethereal, Princess Evangile (hihi), Eden*... ~~ Then something changed. Went in a VN hiatus over the Summer 2015, got absolutely massacred by VN Club's My GF is a President, and couldn't read any full on charamoeges since then. Got lynched out of the Cult of Moe. Descended into the Cult of Darkness, Fall/Winter 2015, Corpse Party series, Saya no Uta, Swan Song, Cartagra + Kara no Shoujo I & II, euphoria. Gud shit. Or should I say bad shit? Gud bad shit. Then tried to play stuff like Noble Works, KoiChoco, Koisuru Natsu no Last Resort, epic fail. New year-> Spring 2016 went into mystery/survival, Danganronpa 1 & 2, 999, Zero Escape VLR, Root Double. And Tokyo Babel's apocalyptic supernatural. Also Shikkoku no Sharnoth; bombed Gahkthun though. Also throw in a quick Lucy and an Otome (Code:Realize) and here we are, with me prepping up to destroy Dergonu in the fabled Koiken Otome Summer Race Bonanza of 2016. ~~ Overall I'd say my main preferences now are Mystery/Survival - They're just so thrilling to read, Danganronpa/Zero Escape series, Root Double was cool too. Also G-senjou. Sci-Fi / Fantasy - Great for epic stories; Rewrite, Steins;gate, ArNosurge, Code:Realize I can enjoy darker stuff like Kara no Shoujo & Swan Song, disliked 'crossing the line' stuff like euphoria though. Maggot Baits will probably rekt me. Hard. Moege is a thing of the past, can only read short stuff like Nekopara now. Chara(mo)ege depends. If there's no fantasy elements ie. Koi Natsu no Last Resort, chances are I can't read them anymore. Stuff like Dracu-Riot / Koiken Otome are where it's at for me now. Need something extra to make the mindless everyday slice of life and petty first world problems interesting, ya know.

  4. Started with the Clannad fan TL back in around April of 2014. It was horrible, I didn't use a guide, I ended up heading towards a bad end, and the translation was so buggy on that bad end route that Nagisa's name had been translated as the empty string and Tomoya's had been translated as "No string found create a ticket". Then the music just stopped, and after about 30 BGM-less minutes of clicking through text boxes and occasionally hearing dialogue, I was absolutely hating it. So I dropped it. Somehow, despite that horrible experience, I still decided to play Little Busters!, and I loved it to death. From there it was Rewrite, Kanon, WEE, IMHHW, Katawa Shoujo (in roughly that order). Mix of experiences there, but I still look back fondly on IMHHW, so I probably have shit taste. Right after IMHHW is when I joined the Fuwa forums, sporting a self-made peeved Ageha portrait; that'd be February 2015. At that point, I was thoroughly in the "feels" camp but trying to branch out. After Katawa Shoujo I picked up F/SN, and went "Oh! So that's why they're always talking about this." Then the reading club revival happened, and that covered most of what I read for the next half a year: Comyu (really enjoyed it; also known as How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The H), YMK (didn't care for it), picked up Eden* on my own (good feelz), OsaDai (cute girls and H, fine; everything else, terrible), and finally Sekien no Inganock. Sekien no Inganock was a watershed moment for me; it was just... different, and in a way that I only appreciate more as time passes. After that, Swan Song was just looking too heavy for me, so I dropped it, and Symphonic Rain was great but kind of more of the same. After that, I found myself enjoying things like Gahkthun and Demonbane more than even that really good nakige, probably largely because of the fantasy settings. When I finally got to Steins;Gate, I found what is probably my new favorite. It's got a little bit of all the things that I like. Now, I guess my tastes are a little varied, especially compared to when I was basically just looking for nakige, but I'm still not interested in darker stuff like Euphoria (let alone Maggot Baits). I play random shit, sometimes enjoy it, and usually finish it. I've picked up a couple nukige, with only some regrets (play: Ultimate Boob Wars; don't play: ImoPara). VA-11 Hall-A was a fantastic cyberpunk dystopian bartending simulator / VN. Highway Blossoms was a bust for me. Purino Party isn't a VN and was no HuniePop anyway. Oh, yeah, and somehow I found myself editing. That's changed my outlook substantially. Now, while reading, I notice a lot more things that make me annoyed than I used to. If you actually enjoy VNs, I don't encourage you to start working on them; it hasn't really helped with that. But, hey, now I get to read Majo Koi Nikki before most of you do, and I even get to help it read the way I think it ought to read, which is kind of cool.

  5. I read Analogue: A Hate Story and loved it. Read Katawa Shoujo and was like, "meh". Read Ever17 and was like "this shit is pretty great." Read Clannad, had a lot of fun and really liked it. I really liked visual novels it seemed. Then one day it happened. The smallest of busters appeared. Now I hate everything and everyone. Especially you reading this.

  6. It's sad but true: we've finally come to the end of our tour of Japanese punctuation for VN editors. But before we bid adieu, there are a few more types we have yet to cover. None merit full blog posts, however, so I offer them up here in a bit of a punctuation grab bag. Reach in if you dare. The placeholder: 〇 The 〇 is typically used to censor offensive language by replacing one of the characters in a word. It's the equivalent of writing "f*ck" or "sh-t" or in English. Everyone knows what's being said, but we can all pretend we didn't say it. Kumbaya, amirite? Cursing really isn't a thing in Japanese, of course, so these marks get used either for our naughtiest bits — think "cock" and "dick," or "pussy" and "cunt" — or certain other socially offensive terms. You might be surprised to see censoring in the middle of an H-scene that, in all other respects, has spared no detail or volume of liquid, but there you go. Just think of them as pixel mosaics for written text. As for editing these bad boys, you should almost always just go with uncensored English. Fuck yeah. The one situation where you might want to consider doing otherwise is when a VN also bleeps these words in the VO. In that case, you'd also be justified in using the censored English equivalent with either *, -, or _ replacing vowels as needed. Pick only one wildcard and be consistent in its use. Another use for these characters in Japanese is to mask portions of real-life names or places — e.g., Bu〇er King. This is done both out of a sense of propriety and to avoid the wrath of real-life lawyers. You'll conceivably see the names of celebrities, bands, games, movies, etc. all masked in this fashion. Thankfully, there's a long tradition of this in Western literature as well, most notably in the Victorian era — "I sent my butler out to the renowned psychic, Madame G—, to seek her advice on the matter." Our best course of action during editing is to mimic the Japanese, but do so in the English tradition, replacing the omitted portion with an em-dash — two if the excised text is particularly long. Sometimes, rather than use 〇 for masking, a VN writer will choose to come up with soundalike parody names for the person, place, or thing being referenced. And so you'll end up with people talking about anime like Wagonball Z and Tailor Moon. If the VN chooses this option, then so should you. Do your best to come up with witty replacements in English. More rarely, you'll see a double 〇〇 all by its lonesome. This just stands for "word goes here." It's a literal placeholder. If you encounter it in narration, you can usually replace it with a few underscores, like _________. If it appears in voiced dialogue, possible options include "blahblah," "yada yada," "blankity-blank," or whatever else you can think up. Parentheses: ( ) In VNs, these typically indicate a line should be read as internal monologue, or in some cases, a stage whisper. The meaning is clear in both languages, so best to keep these as they are. Unless, of course, your text engine is one of those rare snowflakes that can output English italics. In that case, use those. Bedazzlers: ★☆♪♫❤❆❀✿❁ Okay, they're not actually called "bedazzlers," but it's a good a name as any. You know what I'm talking about, right? That big ol' box of typographical Lucky Charms that gets dumped right onto VN text to provide some wacky flavor to the proceedings. Hearts, stars, flowers, snowflakes, music notes, Zodiac signs, etc. Some common uses include: - A music note at the end of a line to show it's being sung. ("Fly me to the moon♪") - A heart somewhere in a line to indicate puppy love at its most disgusting. ("He's so dreeeamy❤") - A name or term being bracketed by stars to show that it's extrasupervery OMGmagical. ("Aha! I've transformed into ☆Magical Girl Bertha☆") - A tiny gun so we can commit suicide after enduring all the above. These little pretties are self-explanatory enough that I tend to leave them as is. Japan's gotta Japan, right? But use your best judgement; if you feel like they're getting in the way of the of the English narrative, go ahead and prune them back — or omit them entirely. Full stop. Not the punctuation; the whole series of punctuation articles. We're done. If I think of any more oddball Japanese punctuation marks worth discussing, I'll add them to the end of this post. But otherwise: happy f〇cking editing!

  7. What up, everyone. Here we go with the 8th weekly update. Welp, two months may have passed but the progress done until now has been pretty nice if I say so myself. This week has been rather slow, so I apologize for that. We have recruited our twentieth member, @Torky who will help us in the Majo Koi Team as a Translator to fill our current MIA (but that will definitely be back, work issues don't let them be with us atm) translators, which are @Hasa and @RaurosFalls. On a side and personal note, I'll be working as a QC for Bishoujo Mangekyou in Euphemic Translations, so that's that. ANyways, let's get straight into the update, shall we? Witch's Garden The prologue has been completely TLC'd. The common route is already completed by 30% in that aspect and Misumi's and Ririko's routes have started to receive TLC as well. Ayari's route has had some TLC completed as well, but it will be stalled and Misumi + Ririko will have priority, since they belong to our future 50% game patch. The editing has been progressing rather slowly, but it will resume this week to complete the prologue. Currently the route being translated is Eclairs. We have an updated progress board in our website and... well... I think that's it for the news. I'll just post the numbers below: Majo Koi Nikki Progress has advanced rather slowly in terms of translation. Editing has been resumed and we've moved on from the prologue to the common route of the game. We'll post an updated progress board as well as soon as we completely figure the route's numbers out, since they are pretty bad divided and it's pretty difficult to tell them apart. Regarding the partial patch, the only thing left is to repack the translated interface images and we'll be pretty much done with it and be ready for releasing it. We're sorry for the delay, hehe. The numbers are below: DISCLAIMER: THESE AREN'T THE EXACT NUMBERS, WE'RE STILL FIGURING OUT ROUTES AND OTHER STUFF. DISCLAIMER 2: THOSE 99% ON BOTH EDITING AND TL OF THE PROLOGUE ARE BECAUSE THE TRIAL PATCH HAS EXTRA LINES.   9. Firstly, @voidpointer, take note of the gentleman quoted above. His name is Tiagofvarela, and he's widely regarded as dangerous. Despite a generous bounty put on his head long, long ago, he's managed to dodge the judicious arm of the law, and even infiltrated deep into site staff. Just keep your eyes open. You never know when he's going to pop up. Secondly, you got lots of good advice on this! @Decay and I write VN translation status updates on the blog every week, so that's worth tuning into. I don't blame you for missing it, though: we actually have several "sites" as part of Fuwanovel, but they're currently a bit disjointed. That'll hopefully be fixed this weekend/next week, when they're all combined into one (at http://fuwanovel.net). So once that's up, you'll have to tell me if you think things improved on the visibility front. Thirdly, VNTL-Moon (http://moon.fuwanovel.net) is pretty cool, but it IS a bit outdated. I intend to get to it after the front site business is stable, though, so it should be a good resource again, soon. The way it works is that we pull the feed of translation teams' blogs. That means some groups (who don't have blogs, or feeds) can only be represented as links on the side, so that's a notable problem. The easiest way to keep up with news is thus ultimately our weekly VNTS posts on the blog. < 3 - Tay

  15. My beginning was Tsukihime and FSN. I first played them in early-2009, about the time when my anime fansubbing 'career' was reaching its height... and fansubbing itself was beginning its rapid decline due to the fact that Crunchyroll's basic subs were getting good enough that their streams were beginning to dominate. Tsukihime was an eye-opener... it had never occurred to me before that combining visual and audio elements with a novel-style narrative could be so interesting. I instantly fell in love, and within six months, I'd read every localized VN that existed at the time. In late-2009, I was introduced to Translation Aggregator... and I began my VN-reading 'career' with Jingai Makyou. That was a Spartan baptism of fire for VNs, if there ever was one... Though I already knew verbal Japanese, my first introduction to Japanese literary narrative was... educational, to say the least. Many turns of phrase, words, and grammatical usages that simply didn't exist outside of the written word were common in Jingai Makyou. I quickly realized that I needed to reassess my own understanding, and I reluctantly began the study of kanji I'd been avoiding like the plague until then. My second VN in Japanese was Dies Irae Acta Est Fabula. I was stunned... just stunned. I'd never imagined that a story that went so far off the deep end in fantasy could exist... and it was that VN that doomed me utterly. Within a month, I was spreading my 'wings', playing anything that I could get my hands on. I began taking contract work, instead of the one-on-one commissions I'd previously relied on, and I completely rebuilt my lifestyle around playing visual novels. To me, work rapidly became simply a way to pay to import VNs... and I'm afraid I went a bit crazy. The first three crates full of second-hand VNs that arrived emptied one of my savings accounts completely, and it was only after I'd spent somewhere in the range of twelve grand that I realized I had a problem. It took me the better part of a year to rebuild that savings account and 'adjust' my way of thinking to manage my new addiction. By the end of that first year, I'd pretty much read all the recommendations I'd gotten from friends and several bloggers. Sanahtlig was one of those people making suggestions at the time, but his tastes and mine only seemed similar on the surface, so we parted ways for a time (he's a gameplay-VN and H addict, whereas I'm a story whore). I was pretty much completely on my own until I encountered Fuwa in 2012... and found myself a home. I started my VN of the Month thread in September of 2013 and have been going strong every month since, playing the latest non-nukige releases every month.

It'll either be removed, or it'll be switched to represent the patch or publisher of the game. @Decay - SonoHana games reviews section oddities - Yep. I've already addressed that in each of the Sono Hana games' description section. It'll be specific to the SonoHana games, and isn't something I expect to do with any other games or series. @Decay - Game page layout with possible sidebar - I agree with you, and that's been my plan for the games pages: having an integrated sidebar with those bits that runs down the right side of the page, while removing the true sidebars. That's why the individual VN pages' sidebar is empty atm. In-Progress: @Amuzie - Request Desktop Site - Hm. You can do this on your phone's browser, but you're looking for a link/button on the site itself to do that, right? That's something I'll need to look into. Right now the site is set up to be responsive by design. @Decay - Review Header Images Problem - I'll get them all straightened out today. I have to edit some stuff about each review, anyway @Decay - Limitations of WP games pages vs database - Well-said, and exactly right. A fuller database implementation IS coming, but it's something we're going to need to save up for. I collected a grand total of 22 bids to do the front site coding, and for what we wanted, the bill was going to be between $7000 for a relatively inexperienced coder to $25,000 for a mid-to-top-ish tier developer. (Just going to stop and point out that @Nayleen would absolutely qualify as top-tier, and consistently donates an unbelievable amount of time to help us out. We're very, very lucky to have you, Nay. Thank you for all you do.) I'm scoping out custom coding to get a custom plugin to pull from a custom games DB and feed into a design template we can modify at any time. So that's where we're headed. At some point when things settle down and I can publish an updated site financial report, I'll try and put all of this down on paper. But, yeah, we're saving up for that.   22. Time for another update, actually on Saturday for once. Nothing special happened this week, QC isn't perpetually in an Ice Age any longer, and got a nice nump in progress, but there has been no editing this week, sadly. Aizen-sama, the guy who you might know from MajoKoi and WG translation projects is now QC'ing this project, so steady progress in that front should be secured now. Now I just need to do something about steady editing progress. Anyways, progress: Translation: 100% Editing: 22,9% QC: 8,5% Proofreading: 0% Till next week.

  23. Time to vent a bit. If you are uncomfortable with the themes of death, old age and I guess to some extent, Alzheimer's, read on, I'm sure you'll love this. My grandmother is at death's door. There's only so much pumping her full of medicine every day can do. This is the first time that I've had to deal with a family member getting too old, and the whole situation makes me rather sad. I remember she used to come by hour house every month and do the ironing. After a few years, though, she had an attack and hurt her leg. She became unable to walk without crutches and as a consequence became a bit depressed. She started wanting to do things like leaving the house to get a coffee or something, which was nice and healthy. But then life decided to add salt to the wound: the house she and my grandfather lived in was too old, so it had to be rebuilt. She went to live with some family which I guess was probably the healthiest she's been since then. When they finished rebuilding my grandparents' house, due to some mistake the house ended up with huge steps before the doorway, as opposed to the small ones they used to have. Since it was very hard for my grandmother to traverse them, she was now stuck in the house and got even more depressed. Of course, she insisted on living there with her husband anyway. One day, she might have fallen at home or something without telling anyone, and my grandfather didn't notice anything. So she wounded her back and it kep getting worse and worse and the pain was such that she had to go to the hospital. The wound was terrible and she had others, too. If nobody keeps watch on her, nobody will know if she hurts herself because she won't tell anyone. She kept complaining for being at the hospital, of course, but she finally went back home three days ago. A family member went by to visit and what did they find out? She was completely off her medication and had peed herself. She can't take care of herself anymore. She can't do much anymore. And my grandfather, who's even older than her, can't take care of her anymore. She's currently sick at the hospital and I'm not expecting her to come back. The idea one is too sick to do anything and even live, hurts. Another family member who's in her 90's is still relatively healthy, able to cook, walk, use the bathroom, etc. She lives by herself although near family. Her memory's terrible though. She once was telling me a story and answering my questions and at some point she just looped back to the start.

    Confession: I recognize who is who through your avatars more than though the nicknames and so when someone change the avatar I get confused who he is, for example, when @Dergonu changed his avatar to the current Illya image I was like "Err... Who is this guy?" then I read his nickname I was "Ooooh!!! It's that Dergonu person". The only exception is Flutterz because he always use a image.

  28. "Grinnity" isn't an american slang word. You just don't seem to be thinking flexibly enough about the English language. It's surprisingly modular and you can't let yourself get stuck thinking about the rigid definitions of things. You can do stuff like "Grinnity grin grin" and it just works, even if literally no one else has done it before. "Yummers" falls into that same category, where it's an almost obnoxiously cheerful way to say "yum." Again, I don't think this is specific to America, it's just the flexible nature of the English language. I'll also just add that I've seen plenty of people all over the world who have read, understood, and enjoyed the translation perfectly fine. And the number of people who haven't understood it were very, very few. I'm not ready to say the thing has been over-americanized or cannot be understood by foreigners just on your testimony alone.

  31. I cannot stop playing this game... it's so good... This is the best release in 2016 in my opinion. Of course, I am a yuri freak, so maybe that isn't too big of a surprise, but the game is seriously good, and I think even people who aren't big fans of yuri will like this one.     The top of it is kinda an image overload, might partly be owed to the size of the header, but I think it more has to do with one row of images after another. It might look cleaner if the recently released section was either moved down or reworked in some way. Anyway, that's just my mediocre observation coming from my questionable sense of aesthetics.

Somewhere around 2013-2014 I was looking for anime similar to Steins;Gate, and.. plot twist, I didn't read the S;G VN, instead I found Chaos;Head which isn't really similar but the title has that semicolon so I looked it up. All I saw was people saying the anime sucks and that the VN was better, and the synopsis looked interesting so I tried the VN. Most of it was pretty good, although I was fairly confused about the choice system they had in there and the ending was stupid, but I still enjoyed it. I think I Googled other VNs I could play after that since I was intrigued by the medium, and I found Kana ~Imouto~ on some random site. Played it, but I didn't enjoy it whatsoever, maybe it's because I don't have a sister but I couldn't relate to the protagonist's feelings at all. At least I completed it, unlike CrossChannel, which was the next one I tried to read.. but it was really confusing, so I dropped it and kind of forgot about VNs for a while, reverting to watching anime again. Fast forward to ~October 2015 and I was randomly browsing the internet. I think I saw an ad for some site where you can play browser games for free, and since I was extremely bored, I clicked it. One of the games listed on there was Everlasting Summer, and I saw that it said "Visual Novel" under it. I already was familiar with the term so I checked it out, and a great VN it was. Then I researched VNs again and came across Katawa Shoujo, which ended up being so good I stalled on it (couldn't cheat on Rin after completing her route). I decided to read something else instead, and got a torrent legit copy of Sharin no Kuni which had [Fuwanovel] in the folder name.. so that's when I remembered about this community (I've seen the site a few times before) and started lurking more here, eventually registering. I was a bit bored with anime at that time, so my focus shifted heavily in favor of reading VNs, and I finished Rewrite, Grisaia, and HoshiMemo (almost done) pretty quickly after that. Still, I don't know how some of you guys finished 20+ VNs in two years I guess I'm still not jaded and can still enjoy fairly simple, trope-filled VNs (although I don't like SoL), so for now, I'm sticking to a natural progression and putting off playing more hardcore VNs. You know, why not enjoy them while you can, right?

  40. So, I discovered Yume miru kusuri when I was just a pure teenager (as if lmao) and I absolutely loved the shit outta it, fun thing is. I never followed up on it, I have a vague memory of playing the sagara family but thats it. So, at the age of 23 I was having a severe depression, its better now, but at this time I needed something I could do and I was so tired of wasting my life away on shit like hearthstone and for some reason I felt like replaying yume miru kusuri, I absolutely loved the shit outta it again, but this time I was craving for more, it fueled my creativity and more importantly it made me FEEL again, so I immediatly got harukoi otome and cross channel, I played cross channel 1 time and didnt understand anything so for me it was kinda meh lol, need to replay that. Harukoi otome was...eh. But then I came across a kotaku article about saya no uta and because im naturally attracted to wierd shit, this seemed to fit the bill perfectly, so I got it and it was....mindblowing. And then I found fuwa, which was heaven at the time because the torrents were still there, so much stuff to read and so many stories to explore, I signed up got recommendations and here I am.

No 100% guarantee, but hey - it's always better than nothing I actually had plans to TL a part of common route myself (for a teaser of sorts). My offer is still valid.   47. We just hit 50% translation! Yaay! I just wrapped up the translation of Futaba's good ending last night, (fought through some H-scenes... ) And here we are! So with this, we are officially halfway there. It's a pretty good feeling. Although the actual line count hasn't changed that much since last week, just seeing the "50%" makes me feel awesome I wanted to do something a bit special for the halfway mark, so I'm going to talk a bit about the game first, then I'll be answering some random questions some people might have/ just in general talk a bit about the project and how things are progressing on our end. Let's begin with some info about the game: Many people might not really know that much about this small, fairly new yurige by a fairly unknown company. In Tsui Yuri, you follow the twin sisters Futaba and Ichika, who get along very well. So well in fact, that their mother thinks it is a bit too much, and she asks them to spend some time apart. Seeing as they live in the same house, go to the same school and pretty much always do everything together, this is a bit hard, and their relationship is strained. The story is told from both girls' perspectives, and there is 2 routes, with 4 endings total. During the common route, you will make several choices that will impact the story and the girls' relationship. The "status" meter in game will show you how strongly each character cares for the other at any given time, and each choice will change this meter to a varying degree. One choice might bump Ichika's feelings a lot, where as some might make her care less and less for Futaba, and so on. Currently not translated, as the image editing is not done by me. It is in the works, but not done yet. What really interested me about this game was the choice and route system. There is no real set combination of choices that will lead to a route; you can freely play with the status meter, making different choices to see how it changes their feelings. To get a character's route, that character's feelings has to be stronger than the other one. (Meaning if Futaba has about 60% and Ichika has 40%, you enter Futaba's route.) But, if you manage to completely push it all the way to one side, (so now Ichika doesn't care about Futaba at all,) then you will get a bad ending. Meaning, which ending you get is decided by your choices in the common route, and not during the actual character route itself. This is really cool, because that means you actually get a "bad route" and not just a bad ending. (The line count in the bad routes are actually just a tiny bit shorter than the good ones. If you like bad endings with a bit of meat to them, these are actually pretty good. Also, yandere fans, look out.) In addition, some of the choices you make in the common route will give you different variations of each scene, some which includes unique CGs, so saving and testing out new stuff is actually pretty much required. (Though, seeing as the game is quite short, it's a neat feature, not something that makes you sigh because you have read something similar before.) Story wise, it is a very light game with no real "plot" other than two sisters growing more and more fond of each other. It deals with them moving from the line of "sisters" to "lovers" and things like that. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but for yuri fans it's a really solid title. Also, like I mentioned, the bad endings are actually pretty dark, so for the twisted fellas out there, this one might be a bit interesting for you if you can stomach some adorableness first. Let us take a quick look at the characters: Ichika Ichika is the smart, cool and collected sister. She speaks politely, has a very calm air to her, is a perfect honor student and is also the vice-president on the student council. She is a bit too soft on Futaba, always helping her out with anything Futaba needs. Although she is very smart, she isn't the brightest when it comes to relationships in general - she simply isn't that used to interacting with people. Futaba (God I love her pout.) Futaba is the energy bomb of the two. She loves Ichika more than anything in the world, and always follows her sister around. She is way too spoiled, and doesn't do much on her own; she wants her sister to help her out with it. She isn't the smartest kid around, but she is very good at sports, and is a member of the tennis club. She is also way too adorable. Yuri The sisters' childhood friend and Ichika's classmate. Yuri is a bit of a joker who tends to put ideas in the girls' heads. She speaks her mind, even if what she has to say isn't the most appropriate, which makes for some hilarious situations. But although she tends to joke around a lot, she has a bit of an adult-like feel to her and is a very mature person when she needs to be. Saki The sisters' second childhood friend and Futaba's classmate. She is a bit different from Yuri, and is a lot more polite and in many ways, similar to Ichika. Saki is a very gentle and sweet person, and wants to help the sisters out whenever they are feeling down. One big difference between Ichika and Saki is that Saki gets what people are thinking a lot easier, making her a bit less of an "airhead" when it comes to relationships and people's feelings. Moving over to some questions and answers. Question... (kind of): When I started the project, I felt that there was a few people who weren't quite sure whether or not I could do this. I think the quality of the final translation was their main concern. Basically, am I a complete scrub, or do I actually have some skills? Answer: Well, a few things to keep in mind. 1, this game is very fluffy and very simple. It is also quite short. That does not mean it's something to underestimate of course, but I would never have started the project if I wasn't ready. There is a reason I aimed for a short, fluffy title without any intricate plot lines that would be hard to follow for a new translator. In addition, the second I felt a bit overwhelmed, I stopped the project for a bit, as I knew that wasn't the way things should be. I am completely comfortable with this project now, and although I know my translation will not be a top tier piece of work, I can assure you at the very least, it won't be wrong. Like, I won't translate peppers to peas. (Isn't that right Kriririri ) Anyways, I know I am new to this, I know I will make some tiny mistakes here and there, I know the quality will be a bit lower than what some of the very skilled individuals out there manages, but overall I am happy with the way things are going. I'm learning a lot, I'm improving, and this is just the beginning of my translation career. (Even if that makes some people more angry than happy ) Question: Will there be a prologue patch/ partial patch released? Answer: We still have a few issues with the engine, (which is stupid and retarded,) so a potential patch now would have a few annoying bugs and errors which would just be distracting. The scripts also aren't really polished quite yet, as it's only been me and an editor working on it as of right now so... I'm going to say, no. It just wouldn't be a pleasant read in its current state, and seeing as the game is so short, it's pretty much pointless either way. Question: Do you have an ETA for the patch? Answer: It's hard to say. I could give you a rough estimate, but I would rather not. The thing is, the amount of time I have to work on this is a bit limited. I absolutely love working on it, and I have a blast the entire time I do, (except for when the damn H-scenes suck the life out of me.) The thing is, this is my first translation. I have never translated anything before, and the work is very tasking. Sounds silly, I mean, all I do is look at something in Japanese, then write it in English, right? Well, there is a lot more to it, and honestly, it's very mentally draining. Even just a simple one hour session can leave me exhausted. Not because I get bored, but simply because I have to think a lot, and I'm not used to that. Wait... Because of the fairly limited amount of time I have each week, there is only so much I can get done on a weekly basis without overworking myself. This is a very new thing to me, and I want to make sure I move forward at a comfortable pace. Seeing as I have no deadline or anything, I can take it exactly at the pace I personally feel is right, even though that might be a bit frustrating to others. Basically, I can say that it will be released in 2016 for sure, but I can't say anything more specific than that. A bit of progress on how things are going on our end. The translation and editing is going fine, and is moving around the same speed. The reason the editing is lagging a tiny bit behind me right now, is because the translation I work on every week isn't made available on the GIT for the editor until I upload it on Thursday nights. That means he literally has to edit it all during that night to get it ready for the Friday update, which ... well, if he was doing that I'd be a bit worried. We have met a few problems in the game which the hacker has to take a look at. This is something I can't do anything about, as I barely know what a computer is, so without Porygon on this project, this whole thing would not have been possible. (Thank you so much.) Image editing will be done so that the entire menu and UI is in English. There is no ETA on this, and all I can say is that it will be done at some point. An individual approached me without me asking for their help, which made me extremely happy. As of right now, I don't know if they want to be mentioned or not, so I'll wait until I know that for sure before I talk about that any more. Point is, it will be done at some point. To finish up this post, I'll just put out there that we are working hard and that the patch will be finished. I know a decent amount of new teams tend to suddenly just die out and vanish. That will not be the case with this project. Like I said before, I'm having a blast translating this. Although it might not seem like I'm getting a lot done, it's simply because I'm making sure I don't rush through things. Also keep in mind that real life is a thing, and that sometimes it takes priority over the translation. Thanks for sticking with me and the team, and I hope you are looking forward to the patch.
