Recommendation thread that hopefully isn't annoying!
Zakamutt replied to voidpointer's topic in Recommendations
Grisaia no Kajitsu has a very long comedy based common route and not all endings, even "good" ones, are all that happy. Not sure if I'd recommend it with the criteria specified, though it's certainly a good VN. -

VN Reading Club - October 2015 (Symphonic Rain)
Zakamutt replied to Kosakyun's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Lise's route is generally regarded as the weakest, since it aims for the feels rather than more complicated character relationships. I know some people like it the most though, then again, some people actually like Shizuru's route the most in Rewrite which is significantly more difficult to understand. There are two different "timing modes" for songs in the settings. Try swapping them around and see how you do on songs. -

That's weird, I'm pretty sure default volume isn't zero... ah well. Interestingly, and perhaps annoyingly (though you could argue Chris being unvoiced when he is the PoV character partially hides his attitude, maybe...), the PoV character is never voiced in this... even when they previously were -

I see it now; the IPB 4 upgrade was all worth it in the end. Truly, we have reached maximum editlightenment. -

Zakamutt replied to Kosakyun's topic in Visual Novel Talk
The minigame can be very hard to pick up, and I personally got rekt a decent few times before passing even on normal difficulty. There is logic both to the notation and the playing though, which is part of the beauty of it (especially on Hard). -

It looks like if you edit an off-site blog post that's RSS linked the new one gets pulled and you have a lovely double post to deal with. I'm not sure if this is preventable, intended, or needed in general.

Ameliorating Hyperprocrastination Death-spiral Syndrome
Zakamutt posted a blog entry in Disearnestly Disearnest
So, a while ago one of my contacts at the mental health clinic told me it might be a good idea for me to visit a counselor at same. I did, and then eventually rather a range of things happened. They are currently still happening, albeit somewhat slowly. My problem, as I described, was mostly […] View the full article -
I'd think seeing how many VNs fail the reverse bechdel test would be interesting as well. It wouldn't be that many because main characters tend to have sidekicks, but random stuff like Autumn would fail simply because of how minimalistic they are.

If it's a high score tournament I'm actually decent at the minigame these days so I'll prolly end up third after the cheater and the really obsessed guy -

Discussion Theme Discussion; Kemonomimi ( Month 1 )
Zakamutt replied to Jason_OCE's topic in Visual Novel Talk
わふ? Nekomimi might be a favorite, but I'm beginning to appreciate inumimi as well. Why? Misaki Gaillard (don't lok at the katakana you will probably go insane), some animal traits, but p. humanoid in reasoning and all. Amairo Islenauts actually takes place on a floating island where some beast-people with magic stones and shit originally lived and then they somehow came to our world through a portal or something and interbreeding happened... I have to admit the prologue infodump was a bit hard to understand. -

Rip. Oh well, hopefully someone has it.

I guess it's probably gone off the grid due to MG getting hold of the license... that said I'm too lazy to actually look it up at the moment. There should still be a pre-patched version w/ umitweak in certain places, at least. Think you actually need to manually apply it in that, so you might be able to get it in a roundabout way.

I think the problem isn't just with marketing, but how you market it. Your post on reddit some time ago illustrates this: first of all, you used a clickbait title, which is frowned upon. Second, you more or less threw three links out there, without much context. A more carefully written post which eased readers into the subject and gave more context to each link would probably have been received somewhat better. The commenters were still a bit too faggoty though, rip. tl;dr the way you present your content is important -
I actually talked to babiker a bit earlier about the fuwazette itself, and how he couldn't find a single link to it from the forums. I kinda called off the community blog section autoposts by fuwazette-chan because they looked immeasurably crappy due to unconverted html tags, etc. The sidebars, somewhere, could be a decent place. If vntl-moon gets a picture... yeah. Doesn't need to be big either, even showing the latest post title would be enough.

I'm really bad in the mage mirror for some reason, at 2-10 atm. I really don't know why, though playing an attrition deck, and a bad control deck that somehow had no lategame might have helped it somehow. Mage is seriously one of my worst classes now, which is just wat. Paladin and rogue are treating me fairly well though.

As for the colorlessness, wasn't just the usual whiners? Granted, as one might expect most of the stuff I actually saw about it was from the ts3, but I honestly feel that it was only the small anti-fun element on the site that actually considered it annoying. While the community sections etc might be flagging in activity, I don't really see vn-related discussion decreasing, in fact I can no longer keep track due to the amount of new posts - and in fact, I think the reorganization of the forums some time ago was one of the best changes for the site "recently". For an example of this activity, see the Rewrite anime announced thread that popped up recently. When there's something to talk about, people will talk about it I know you care about the community sections the most, but you know what? People have been whining about that previously. Whether or not you think the loss of community activity is a significant problem, perhaps this change can even be considered good by some users. This post has been edited a million times
