I see you're living in interesting times, Tay. Be careful, try not to panic, don't forget to get plenty to eat/drink and plenty of rest, wear clean underwear, keep your moustache and beard trimmed and neat, avoid the giant carnivorous bugs...

Upcoming: 2nd year anniversary of VN of the Month (new post)
Darklord Rooke commented on Clephas's blog entry in Clephas' VN home
There's no 'Hell Yes!' option, so I settled for a mere affirmative. Don't force yourself to play VNs you don't like, though. -
This is too amusing to delete bwahaha

News From 5bp/Mages Regarding The YU-NO Remake
Darklord Rooke replied to XReaper's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I prefer the older designs only because I prefer older style anime art in general, I find they're more detailed. It's still fine though. -
There's usually a lack of perspective on the internet, nothing new there . Oh btw, I heard a rumour that you were going to review Sakura Clicker for us good folk at Fuwanovel. I know I heard this rumour because I said it loudly, and I heard myself saying it loudly, and that definitely qualifies as "rumour heard." So when should we be expecting it?

Leet speak is a basic form of cipher invented in the late 80s so people looking for ‘warez’ and ‘pr0n’ could get around bots. Because it is a cipher it is by nature difficult to parse for no other reason than to make things difficult to parse. Because of this, people who use it in everyday conversations should be strung up by their testes and have their nostrils sewn to their arses. Furthermore, if brevity was all that was important we'd all be speaking in acronyms and emoji by now... *looks at Skype* oh GOOD JOB PEOPLE >:C

I don’t think so. It's funnier when nobody can tell if, and when, I'm being serious. The world is a tedious place, you got to get your amusements from somewhere...

Figures that online gaming would spawn such a stupid, crass, uncreative, and lazy word. It's 3 words, if you can't type them out go hammer yourself in the balls.

Also stealing the best parts from other languages, like French, Latin, and so on. Codifying rules where before there were none... although the guy who broiught Latin grammar rules onto English because Latin gave him a hard on was a dick.

Oh, it's on! Good luck, and when you come back be sure to post amusing stories about what went down. These stories must include sabotage attempts during tests, voodoo curses, weird and wacky hats, and girls.

In the old days, the English language was expanded and developed by creative and learned thinkers… generally speaking. This was why English was both beautiful and subtle. Fast forward to today and the English language is expanded and developed by communities like 4chan, which is why it’s becoming crass and retarded.

Will you buy Shiny Days from Jast?
Darklord Rooke replied to Soulless Watcher's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Delays are only natural in these sorts of businesses - Trails in the Sky SC translation was promised over a year ago, for example. And the censorship is a non-issue, there'll be a patch. Eh, I don't understand these things. Remember what it was like in the good old days? Where we had real problems with our games to bitch about, rather than the crap bothering the modern generation. Where instead of delays, customers would instead have to worry about developers selling them boxes with toxic goo inside, and the developers would laugh when the customers would stagger up to complain before promptly melting into a puddle on their driveway. Remember those days? And the faults in games were like an extra, omniscient enemy, forever present, ready to stuff you at any time. And there was no magical DLC, patching, hobgoblin process to fix it, you just had to live with it and come up with inventive ways around it. I remember a bug that kept appearing right before the final boss, where your Commodore 64 would crash the game, then eject the floppy right into your nuts. Then type ‘LOL’ on the screen. Then whack you in the nuts again… with the monitor. And your friends would sympathise and have these ‘cool techniques’ to fix it, like how you just had to hold the disk in with your hand. This inevitably failed when the disk blew your hand right off, and your computer grabbed that wayward hand of yours and smacked you around the head with the soggy end. And overcoming them properly was a bitch. Like you had to hike 5 miles, barefoot, in the snow, naked, to see the mystic hut of this Horahora woman. A woman with really terrible breath who kept breathing on you and pinching your cheeks, but she could cure your game’s ails with a magic potion. Except that magic potion gave the computer hives, and melted the disk drive, and then you had to explain to your Dad, when he came home, why you’re naked, missing a hand, and also why his computer has no disk drive. That was a bitch! Tsk Mosaics, honestly *rolls eyes* -
Will you buy Shiny Days from Jast?
Darklord Rooke replied to Soulless Watcher's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I see the Shiny Days thread on the JAST forums has gone into virtual melt down for no reason again. People really like to bitch about nothing these days. What is it about this time? Mosaics? Jesus. Thanks for posting the discount code here, Sanah. -

Majikoi A-1 - (Possible) Translation Project
Darklord Rooke replied to Heizei_koukousei's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
It means finding Sudowoodo and committing him to psychiatric care, “where life is beautiful all the time, with trees and flowers and chirping birds, and basket weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes” (or so the song goes.) Pretty weird example of blackmail, in any case -

Tay: Chat Availability Tomorrow
Darklord Rooke replied to Tay's topic in Community Coordination and Feedback
I’d like to blame congratulate Tay for making all those bad jokes and encouraging everyone else to pitch in. It really was a groan-inducing special experience, and I’m really distressed glad I was there to witness it :'( -
I cringe every time I see that phrase *shudder*. What possessed them to translate that into something so childish, I'll never know. Anyways, why are you guys trying to translate something that's already going to be localised? Seems a bit of a wasted effort imo. There's a ton of games not being released for you guys to work on *shrugs*.

Always been more of a Western RPG fan than a JRPG one, but I've still played quite a few titles on this list. I was also going to mention that you've omitted Pokemon but then I read your first post again, specifically the bit about these being 'the best and most interesting' and I understand now Teranigma also missing, and that one is considered good by quite a few. Secret of Mana too, but you've already mentioned that.

The English was terrible when it first went up. It's an indication that any translation done 'in house' at Frontwing will always be lacking.
