  1. You might have been conned out of all those bribes... ...I can see who's the real winner here.
  2. I will not permit that your avatar be changed! If my vote is worth anything, I shall vote with all my might! @TexasDice is only trying to convince you to change so that he remains one of the very few eternals on this site. You mustn't succumb to temptation!
  3. I can confirm that this does occur on Firefox. As opposed to... sometime in the past, the posts are no longer numbered in any way, so I can see how it may be an issue that one is unable to link to a specific post.
  4. So I've been playing Crusader Kings 2 - I'm not very good or knowledgeable about the game, but, having started in a disjointed Ireland as a duke, I eventually managed to make myself into a sizeable Kingdom, absorb Wales and am now in the process of absorbing Scotland. There is, however, a problem. I bought Crusader Kings 2 in a giant discounted pack with a bunch of DLC I paid no attention to. And I started this ironman game without paying attention to it either. Turns out, one of the DLC was an ahistorical event, more like a mod, where at some point the Aztecs invade Europe with an insurmountable army. I am now royally screwed regardless of my favourable conditions and army. RIP
  5. I have never really understood the term "sexy". I simply have no definition for it. I classify girls as "cute", "not cute", and "provocative" (in media only, obviously). The first two are self explanatory, but that latter one refers to characters who opt for revealing clothing, scandalous outfits or who have, either by choice of wear, or by the author's drawings, certain body parts unnecessarily emphasized. I dislike provocative characters, or perhaps its better to put it as "I couldn't care less." Sort of like the beach scenes in so many anime I've watched. To add to this, having played many eroge, I may have been rendered even more numb to any such provocations. When I read in many novels about "temptations", "carnal desire" and simply being "alluring", I have no mental image to go off of. I base myself on what I have heard, read, and been taught. Apparently, red, black and leopard are all clothing choices fit for tempting characters. Skin exposure is important, too. At most, with me, all these characteristics manage is a dry laugh; and if it goes too far, it may provoke my prudishness, leading to embarrassment and eye-averting. I had thought it would always be like this, but two characters have managed to give me something to go off of when thinking "alluring", "tempting" and "sexy"; without simultaneously tingling my prudishness: That's all for this list, because as I said, I'm not often captivated, and even when I am, it's certainly not due to a character's sexiness. In a trivial note, neither of these two series (Fullmetal Alchemist or Denpa Kyoushi) were finished by me. I didn't complete either in their entirety. For this post, I am merely basing myself on physical looks. In my next post about favourite female characters I will elaborate on a subject I am more familiar with, providing examples and minding the characters' personality. It is rather shameful to start a series of posts on such a superficial post, but it was also the most peculiar and shortest.
  6. I suppose I'd be in with the moege crowd? Isn't there a "I like everything that's objectively rubbish!" Category? Or maybe a "I like anything with romance in it".
  7. Speaking of weight, Confession: People have been asking me if I'm sick/been losing weight for the past few weeks. I haven't weighed myself recently, but I'd think that, if anything, I only got heavier. Apparently, according to them, I've been "thin, pale and trembling sometimes", all characteristics I've had for ages. I've never been fat by any stretch of the imagination these last few years, I've always had a terrible aversion to sun leading to what could be described as marginal paleness relative to just about any sun-loving Portuguese, and these "trembles" come from when I'm sitting down and slightly hop on one leg, it's pretty much an unconscious habit by now, and when I have to keep my arms up for any reason because, I don't know about you, but when I try hold my arm up in the air it constantly wavers as I breathe and try to stabilise its position. In other news, today my very essence nearly collapsed in on itself when I was told that ending a sentence with "however" was ungrammatical. So I went to look it up and there seems to be no real issue with it, besides being unusual. I like apples. They do make you hungrier than before you ate them, however. That's all. Good day, gents.
  8. Ergo, driving his point home.
  9. You'll find that there's a whole community dedicated to making fan cases over on Ace Attorney Online! You should try to poke around there and see for yourself! They even have a very neat system where they highlight the best cases of all. I can also give you a few suggestions! Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy it!
  10. For the past 10 months I've been working on a secret project on and off. This is that project. A Fan Case created using an online case maker for Ace Attorney. Just the other day, I finally finished it. And after some extensive playtesting, I'm finally ready to share it with the 'world'. This case features: Terrible Writing Underdeveloped Characters Bad Puns Therefore, if you're looking for any of these things, go over to your local internet browser and play it for the very accessible price of FreeTM. Don't know what Ace Attorney is? Or maybe, you want to learn how to play this case using the case player? I've got you covered with this fantastic tutorial made by yours truly. What are you waiting for? Go over to this thread and play it now! All you need is to click the link under the section designated: "Link:" Ace Attorney Online is the website, forum, community, and free online case maker I used to create this fan case. You can play it on your browser using a PC or laptop. I'm fairly sure it doesn't work on mobile devices. It is preferable that you use Firefox as your internet browser, since Google Chrome doesn't support some of the effects, but it's a minor thing. If you have any criticism, opinions, or just want to flame me, please leave your comments on either this thread or the other one I linked to. Thanks for playing! ...If you do play, that is.
  11. Some players/readers have already expressed concern at the removal of integral VN segments like the galleries. For the sake of their own profit, and of consumer choice, two versions are the optimal way, depending on their pricing. Not a single consumer loses, and people like you, who may or may not find such content disposable, get the VN for cheaper. AkabeiSoft seem intent on VN segmentation for what I would assume are the reasons sanah's already pointed out, either way, that's why something had to be cut out. EDIT: A friendly reminder that this argument is entirely hypothetical. We don't yet know the pricings.
  12. What you are describing is most definitely a cash grab, and not at all what we've put forth as a possibility: what if, instead of paying more more for those features, you paid exactly the same, but had the possibility of paying less for a version without them? What if you were given an option to pay less for a version with said content removed? Mind, I said option. You would still be able to buy the full, or what they are calling deluxe, version for the same, standard price as any other VN of its calibre. Merely a possibility, but one people have been refusing to acknowledge. Regarding content removal... yes. Let's take this to another realm. See games. Imagine Left4Dead. Imagine you were able to buy the game normally as you are... But that you also had the opportunity to buy a version with only single player for a reduced price. Certainly, the developers are removing content from the game to sell as DLC (in which the value of cheaper game +DLC=Normal game price), but this is actually benficial for the consumer. A player in unique circunstances, like with a beyond flimsy internet, would have no use for the multiplayer, hence he pays less. As much as you may think removing multiplayer in that sort of game is asinine, it's an extra choice for the consumer. So, yes. In extraordinary circunstances, I'm fine with the developer removing content to sell separately. Prices and circunstances are everything. This discussion is only pointless if the arguments aren't coming through, and from your post, I fear that's possible.
  13. I appear to have failed to convey my intent. By providing another prespective I'm attempting to showcase that there are other options and that one should, therefore, not take any given side. It may be confusing how it appears I'm taking a side with the intent of showing how we are not at a point where we should take sides. Never once have I said your point of view is invalid. I said it was baseless, just as baseless as mine, but they are both equally valid. Given the lack of evidence we should, then, not take any given side, because both are baseless, although valid and possible. Okay... How to better explain it? You say Frontwing is evil incarante, I say they are the saviours of VN's in the West. Both are equally possible given what we know now: They could be trying to come up with a new and innovative business model... Or they could be trying to rob us blind. What I'm trying to do, is point out the former is also possibility, and how one should therefore not jump to conclusions with the latter, as many were doing. I am decidedly not telling you to believe Frontwing is trying to do good, I'm telling you that since they could be, hold on to your hate until there's evidence either way.
  14. Okay, I'm almost good. Now, please understand that if this negativism and general baseless preconceptions weren't up in the air then I'd bet neither Rooke, nor sanahtlig, nor I would have raised our flags in their name. This whole "defending" movement is a direct response to the pointless pessimism. I wouldn't call it hypocritical, I'd call it counterarguing: I present a valid hypotisis. It is just as valid as yours. There is no evidence either way. Why are you immediately jumping to the conclusion everything is bad and evil when there's other valid and sound hypotises?
  15. Does the PC version not include the dub? And if it does, does it include the original Japanese?
  16. The issue being that said people who fund their stuff, like you, I presume, are getting pissed off on the basis of nothing. Yet. You argue against segmentation because the west went the bad way with it... I'd love to counter-argue, but I really can't. It is a possibility. What I can do, however, is point out that given the possible intent, and given the lack of evidence, there's absolutely no reason to call Frontwing and AkabeiSoft the scum of the Earth and lords of all that is evil, as some people have been doing. Yet. There is some reason, if you really hold it against this type of DLC, not to fund the kickstarter, but none to badmouth them.
  17. Would you care to enlighten me? Is it... Deus Ex or something? Regardless, yes... I can see the chosen nomenclature raising issues. "deluxe: haha, you aren't getting the 'complete' version" Personally, I couldn't care less what they called it, but they may be appealing to the VN otaku mentality of always having the biggest, most exorbitant, and premier version available. You have seen how otakus are willing to pay up for their hobby. In fact, you know it. Not to generalise, of course, any other sort of gamer should prove able to do the same. EDIT: Whilst in a stroke of genius, also appealing to the steam crowd who are less liberal with their wallets, but still liberal enough to fork over 20 dollars for a game that looks remotely interesting. As for your other point, it's damned if you do, damned if you don't. Frontwig would have had their head put on a spike if they removed any sort of content without previous warning.
  18. Sekai Project's Q&A has come to cement the fact that it is AkabeiSoft that prefers a modular approach, not necessarily Frontwig. With this in mind, I once again redirect any individuals against this business practice to the current facts: Non integral (if you want to be picky, then yeah, this is up for debate) parts of the Visual Novel will be removed and be sold as DLC at a fraction of the price. Think CG and Music galleries. Currently, on Prefundia, it is stated one will be able to attain the full game by backing the project for a mere 20 dollars. This considerably reasonable given the current pricing standards of visual novels of this kind. Having established this, and back to the DLC situation, there are currently two possible options that are theorized: OPTION A The game will sell at the current Western market norm* for a visual novel of this calibre (about 40-50 dollars), after which you can, for an added amount, buy the DLC. The total amount will be higher than the current western market standard. This is the "moneygrab" option most people fear with no evidence. In fact, so far as theorizing goes, one could even say there's evidence against this: AkabeiSoft's previous officially released Visual Novel, "G-Senjou no Maou" also offered DLC. The game could be bought at a markedly reasonable price with no voices (about 20 dollars), or include them as DLC for the standard VN price of about 40 dollars. I do understand that, setting this precedent may later down the line lead to bad practices. See the western market. OPTION B The game will sell at a cheaper price than the current standard (less then 40 dollars), after which you can, for an added amount, buy the DLC. The total amount should equal the current western market standard. This is the more reasonable approach some individuals are hoping for. If G-Senjou has set any sort of precedent, this is the approach AkabeiSoft, and therefore Frontwig, will opt for. Until the pricing is out, I believe that any accusations of moneygrabs and removing essential VN components are entirely baseless. I, for one, am always welcome to more competitors in the localisation scene. ---- Regarding the matter of H-Scenes, Sekai Project claims AkabeiSoft is not interested in bringing them to the west. I won't try to bend your principles if you're against censoring VN's, but sometimes the localisation company is simply not to blame. *VN's like CLANNAD, Grisaia and G-Senjou set the norm for VN's of this size, quality and renown on Steam. This is, of course, debatable.
  19. Relatively to your query on the topic of my favoured scenes, I will confess that I particularly enjoyed the deduction segments. Beyond which, the comedic scenes were markedly amusing - notably the scenes in the aptly named 'amusement' park. Were I to be forced into categorizing the various grills over the course of the game, I'd first present a complaint at the conspicuous lack of grills, and then proceed to classify the female individuals as such: Shigure > Elizabeth > Airi > Rui > Akira > Misaki > Natsuki I would elaborate, but I have resolved that said elaboration is best left for another, more substantial, post.
  20. I have concluded my initial playthrough of the VN. As a Visual Novel that promotes itself as being part of the mystery genre, I was quite positive I would enjoy it. The latter trailers advocated a tone shift I had not initially anticipated from the demo, and for me: a most regrettable shift. Yet, it did not deter me from my merriment. There were many segments I appreciated materially, despite, deeply inside, being aware it would finalise the way it did. For context, I would be classified as the average moege player, and as such, not be contained in your immediate target zone. Thusly, I shan't complain. Notwithstanding, here are the various notes I took as I progressed throughout the game, not necessarily in chronological order, presented in their raw, senseless state. At a later date I shall interpret them further:
  21. I must avow, I have some difficulty discerning whether the boy intends to impart that the knob is victim of an extreme monetary deficiency, or if it is merely an articulation defect concomitant of the boy's youthful age. And by that I mean that I'm unsure whether "Maybe it's broke?" is intended. The verb conjugation seems off to me. Also, in case any doubt yet remained, I am patently typing in such a manner purposefully. Taking over 20 minutes to write a sentence can be fun.
  22. This particular wording, or should I say, lack thereof, leaves me positively nonplussed. I am, of course, alluding to the use of "I've also some things to do", as opposed to a more customary alternative: "I've also got some things to do". Due to a definite paucity of knowledge in the English syntax department, this is a mere supposition. It is entirely possible that the average reader would present no qualms with the current phrasing. In other news, I adore this VN, I relish Miss Shigure Enomoto, and grass is viridescent.
  23. It is notable that the "suppose" may be a typo: Also of note is my innate cluelessness: Where would I go about reporting this sort of thing, should I come across it?
  24. A score out of three would somewhat remove some of my issues with inconsistent scoring across titles, as there's less room for petty bollocks. (Things like 4/10 instead of 5/10 sparking huge controversies can be replaced by a simple 2/3 "Recommend at discount") Not the best solution, but a step toward eradicating my personal dislike of the system. Even still, the issue remains and I, too, remain against any score at all. When I have time and access to a computer, I'll further elaborate on this matter, assuming I'm still heated by then. Until that time, I ask that you make do with my salt. As for sanahtlig, I am actually very much for two dissenting views on the same VN by different reviewers, something I suggested back on Little Busters' review, despite the impracticality/impossibility of such a system. But anyway, I digress. We're on scores right now.
  25. This thread has been summoning me for a while, and although I wanted to remain silent, I really need to comment on this. What Fred is providing here are concrete examples of the current scoring system's cons, precisely what you want. More specifically, how it does not work as an accurate sorting system for some people. Ergo, arguing for the removal or alteration of the current scoring system. Why would you want to remove this sort of post? I thought you were looking for feedback on the topic. Since I'm fairly sure you'll call my post off topic, let me share my opinion. The scoring system is inconsistent between reviewers and genres, and can lead to some people focusing on the score more than they should, like me and Little Busters. I'd suggest leaving the pro's and con's section and either removing or replacing the score with something else.
