  1. Nanami's route of Lamune for QC purposes. Also, Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel (which has only one route)
  2. "onomatopoeia" is the word you're looking for
  3. Yeah, I completely agree about the subforum. If it were my forum, there'd be 3 subdivisions under VN discussion One for general VN-related topics One for recommendation threads, where the title always includes the attributes you're looking for not just "recommend me a VN" And One for discussing specific VNs, where anyone who starts a thread does so with the VN title (or series title if it is part of a series)
  4. I think I had this problem at the beginning, like "is that a big tsu or a little tsu" or "is that ryaku or ryoku" etc. But it went away by itself after a while. By the way, you could go for the big phone-book-sized manga magazines. Then the print will be bigger. Although the definition is not quite as sharp because the paper is cheap. I have several of those that would be good for practice. Unlike the individual manga volumes, I don't plan to keep these because they're so cheaply printed.
  5. Hi Ivan, Yes, no such thing as too late, there's no expiration date on visual novels. You should use VNDB when you get a chance, makes it easy for people to see what you've read, and a convenient place to jot down ones that you think you want to read.
  6. For me I guess Yui Yami Nana (but actually it's really hard for me to choose) You'd be hard-pressed to find a bigger fan than me of the original ToLoveRu manga or the Mayoi Neko Overrun manga (which also features ToLoveRu characters)...they have center stage on my manga shelf basically
  7. "Are you willing to take a ride to possibly the most perverted bloodshed experience?" YOU KNOW IT! Everyone knows I love that kind of stuff! ...No.
  8. Perhaps discuss what you're currently attempting to learn and/or what you're trying to read on TS would get you going... Or, pretend you're Daniel Jackson trying to decipher the cover stones of the stargate if that helps motivate you...
  9. Actually, it's the reverse of that. 2000+ anime is what the neophyte anime fans limit themselves to. The cultivated Otaku mind also appreciates the 80's/90's cel animation...
  10. Also, see reference chart below. You can see the evolution of moe
  11. Mine's Suteneko Tora-chan (1947) It's actually good, I swear! However, it's not at all like "the anime style" I'm used to. I guess the oldest one I've seen and liked, that is actually in "the anime style" we know now would be Mirai Shounen Conan which I think is 1978 or something like that.
  12. Just out of curiosity, what's the big draw for this particular title? Is there a well-known artist or writer, or just very likeable characters or something?
  13. Only if the text-hooker is built into the emulator itself. Because it's a virtual machine, AGTH and ITH can't get to the text.
  14. Pshaw, anyone can appreciate sweet milk. The real question is, can you appreciate buttermilk?
  15. About the first part, sure I'd be interested. I may yet get over to Japan "at some point", and I'd rather look at your guide than that of some random person on the internet... About the second part, I'm more of an anime/manga collector than a VN collector. Do you know some nice used DVD or used Book emporiums?
  16. 偏差値 = English "Z-score", a statistical term that many people would be unfamiliar with (including me, I looked it up on JP wikipedia)
  17. the Sailor Moon quiz game Here are some tips in case you try to play this game too: -Just pause the game long enough to read the question and the 4 answers. It's not cheating--the game is about testing your knowledge, not your Japanese language skills. -You can't actually control how the dice is thrown--you just throw it. It's not your fault if she hits herself in the head with the dice, which happens...frequently. -When you get to the point with the 4 cards, there is no special rule here--all that matters is that they match, i.e. you want to get 4 of a kind. And something good will happen then.
  18. Sounds good to me! I am out of town right now, but we can communicate via PM by and by to figure out how to proceed.
  19. hehehe Yeah, I might just do that temporarily for a few laughs: "Project Zoomzoom" Going Nowhere Fast
  20. The web site person can either update the current site, or make a new site somewhere else (in which case the old one will no longer be updated). As long as I have the ability to post status updates on it. Patch maintenance means stuff like: I give you some script files, you build the patch, run it with the PC game, spot-check that it works, then put it up for download somewhere. As an added bonus, you get to determine how to finish the obscene lines which I won't translate...no questions asked.
  21. If you are interested in the sort of stuff I'm translating: http://zoom909.blogspot.com Currently Lamune Previously Miku/Vocaloid kinetic VNs And another project or two I'm looking at starting up I need help in 3 areas 1. Assistance in developing Lamune PS2 patch. If you are familiar with ISO images, PS2 SW and the like. 2. Assistance in maintenance of Lamune PC patch. I already have a tool for this that works. 3. Website renovation. Someone's got to be a better web designer than me. I have no sense of graphical arts at all. And one more thing. I'm tired of the name "Project Zoom909" Please give me a suggestion for another name, if you have one. Thanks in advance.
  22. Visual novels are often called a branching plot, but that plot does not necessarily look like a tree. Often what they do is have one major branching point. The portion before this point is called the common route and afterwards it divides into each heroine's route. The flags are used to determine which route you will end up on. At the beginning of the game, all girls' flags are clear. As the game presents you with choices, afterwords there may be a short-term divergence in the story, and additionally some flags are set (unknown to you), depending on the choice you made. Finally, when you arrive at the branching point, it will put you on the route of whichever girl's flags are set.
  23. I think y'all should do what I did, spend a month or two reading some VNs and choose the one which you liked the best and understood the most.
  24. Taking this viewpoint of course means that you are forbidden from using any translations from a site that accepts donations, lest you be branded a hypocrite. And of course all fan translations which have not been authorized are illegal.
  25. Yes, I usually like burritos enchiladas & quesadillas better what I like besides the tortilla is: ground or shredded beef onion refried beans monterey jack cheese shredded lettuce and there are several kinds of sauces I like on it I know one is guacamole, and one is a white cheese sauce the others, I don't know the name of...we just call them the "brown sauce", the "red sauce", the "green sauce"
