That's leaving a fair bit out. The way it works in the Japanese market is that most titles start out as 18+ games for the PC. If that game gets popular enough, then they'll usually port it to the PSP/PSV. Since Microsoft won't allow sexual content, they have to make it all-ages, but the idea is that in return for cutting sexual content they add in extra content so people will have a reason to buy it (along with the fact that it's a different platform). Except, over here with Steam, you literally get nothing extra in a steam version, since it's still for PC and all the added content in the Japanese all-ages version is usually transferred to the 18+ english version anyways. Even if they are separate products, that gives Japanese producers no reason to specifically release all-ages versions over here before releasing 18+ versions other than money gains (Hi Frontwing). I don't think they're going to Kickstart G-Senjou seeing as how they plan to actually release the game before Summer's over.

Let's all support MoeNovel so they can bring us many more great Pulltop games!

They aren't. I'm pretty sure Frontwing said they were looking into localizing their other games after the Grisaia KS and I have a feeling they're going to have their newest game brought over sometime in the future. Most other hubs for discussing VNs can be fairly irrational as well, just on the other side of the spectrum.

Continuation! Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai Translation
Chuee replied to AnthranDawn's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
I never actually said anything like that. I'm only telling people ( or rather the same guy) to stop bumping the topic for no reason. If the people doing this have anything to say regarding progress or anything, they'll say so. If not, then just wait patiently. -
I think SP largely hinted that one of their next projects is going to be a retranslation of an existing fan-tl (a comment something like "I don't think there's anything wrong going for an already translated title provided you can retranslate it better, oh wait that's a pretty big hint."). Though funnily enough that could be a lot of different games. Also I think they might look at picking up Frontwing's newest game coming out later this year, though it might not be announced this soon.

Continuation! Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai Translation

They said they would be slow to post progress so can we please stop spamming this thread already? -
Most people chose that because it's what is used in the translation, so naturally they'll chose what they're used to seeing. That aside, leaving in Japanese words for no reason isn't something you should be encouraging to begin with. That and Eishi is actually an in-game translation for the english TSF Pilot.

It was either take them up on the offer and put their completed Muv-Luv translation on-hold indefinitely or release Muv-Luv and give up on the deal. Ixrec most likely chose the second because he wasn't very happy about the idea of having his completed Muv-Luv translation be put on-hold with the possibility of never even being released. That and from the way he talked, it seemed some of the stuff that happened got him fairly frustrated with them, as he gave up on going after official localizations of his projects after that.
-
Err, I'm not so sure it was really unattainable to begin with, seeing as how they were looking to get it localized with MG while Ixrec was working on it. Apparently from what people say they wanted KimiNozo done first, but Ixrec didn't want his translation of Muv Luv to sitting on hold for years for only the chance if it getting done. I guess they just gave up on having KimiNozo done and went ahead with this, since it would require a lot less, seeing as how they already have translation and whatnot done. Though it's a shame they won't bother doing a better re-translation since they're going to be getting a ton of money through Kickstarter, so they easily could if they wanted to.

It was good, but most of the routes sort of went into really ridiculous bullshit at times.

Fakku Going Legitimate: A Ray Of Hope For Hentai Manga?
Chuee replied to Nosebleed's topic in Anime/Manga Talk
Err, I'm pretty sure Fakku is based in Oregon, so why would they be worrying over UK laws? -
Uh. He did the prologue segment and then got busy. From what I had after he looked over it and what I have now, there's a lot of lines that are completely different in meaning. Granted a lot of the errors were lines he didn't touch, so you could maybe pass it off as just skimming over it without paying that great of detail to it, but there were a few lines that he gave an alternative translation that ended up being flat out wrong.

Sekai Project depends on crowdfunding entirely too much

I already said it in the same quote. Also keep in mind the part where I said one or the other. -

The whole 18+ Grisaia fiasco comes to mind. Only if you despise moege or something. You also shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. People only complain about the availability of Japanese VNs, to which SP released like 4-5? That doesn't really change the fact of the matter. People are complaining because of their methods not solely because they're localizing games. Also the line about fan translations is all sorts of hilarious. Fan translators have put out much more than all three localization companies combined, and that's not even counting for the fact that many official localizations have used fan translations. I would much rather be stuck with only fan translations than only be stuck with official releases. Considering they're rushing through Clannad's translation because of it, you could say so. Nukige at least offer something you don't find in almost any story VNs. Also to that specific genre some of the stuff MG have released are pretty good. https://vndb.org/p428 There's quite a few games that use the same mechanics as nekopara, and even then that and the art where the only two things that game had going for it. Oh, wait that doesn't even matter since SP didn't make the game. They did the translation which came out bad. -

And people call them dirty for it because it is. You see people accuse video game companies of dirty practices from DLC content all the time. I'm saying it's dirty to use it as a method to increase profit. Companies would and should never treat something like shishiki or 'rare collectibles' as a means to gain profit because items like those are intrinsically what will yield you the highest profit gain out of literally anything. It's not too bad if they just draw something at an event and decide to give it away, but if a company produces something like 20 of them and starts selling them it looks really greedy, especially so if they have no need for that money to begin with. -

Doesn't really change the fact that the process in and of itself is rather dirty because of just how much of a profit return you make from selling things like that. That's why you don't have businesses produce a set number of things like that and throw them out to sell for outrageously high prices. That's not even considering that SP Kickstarters have things like autographs in the 1,000+ tiers, which most famous people will usually give out for free.
