Well I don't mean there's anything wrong with the first 1/3 at all - just that the intensity of the last 1/3 is so amazing it's hard to stop watching. Not that you don't know that already. "Let It Out" is one of my all time favourite anime theme songs EVER. I carry it around with me in the car and listen to it regularly (along with Starlight, also by Miho Fukuhara who is a truly amazing singer) but it annoys the heck out of me that the audio in it is clipped; so much so that I bought izotope software specifically to declip these two tracks by her. You're not the only one who likes 2003 better, but that would be the less common opinion. I found FMAB 1000x better than FMA, but to each their own.

Tears of joy my friend. Now that you know the story well, I suggest you rewatch FMAB. The first 1/3 is very good, the middle third excellent and the final 3rd godly. Knowing what happens and the relationships and sacrifices are where the tears come from. Also as you get older, you get more sensitive, not less, and I'm quite a bit older than most of the forum (maybe all of it.)

Just finished watching Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood for about the tenth time. This time I watched it with my son (15) since he's old enough to enjoy it now as a rite of passage. Goddamnit I think I cry more every time I watch it. Sure I'm not saying anything new about this well known series, however, the way it starts is amazing enough but by the last 10 episodes I can't stop myself from shedding tears. I'm wondering when there will ever be a series this good again on so many levels.

Indeed, they proved what a DICK some people can be. -
Rewatching Bakuman with my wife. That first episode absolutely nails how to create an opening episode that is guaranteed to keep you watching.

Fully clothed... right? Right!? -
I found the whole series very meh and uninspiring. I did not feel convinced of the MC's master tactical skills and the convenient plot devices were all beyond the believable. Given the number of posts I saw about this show early on about how awesome it was that the MC wasn't a virgin, I suspect the entire series ran off the power of that premise alone... and we didn't even get to see any hot sex. Says more about the audience watching and how salty they are about donkan virgins than any intrinsic value of this series itself.

Your post would be considered spoiler enough that you should probably put it in spoiler tags.

It's one of those shows that if you like it, it's a gem of loveliness and enjoyable characters and interactions. Me, I was bored stupid and gave up. I think if you grew up on the whole Japanese youkai thing and personifying them you may get a lot out of it but it did not work for me on any level no matter how "nice" it looked.

Goddamn you, as an ex water polo player, I was sitting at the breakfast table and crying from laughter and the whole family was wondering wtf was wrong with me. Full marks on that one. -

So far it sounds like you're all cut from the same mould Apart from the otaku stuff... I love music, hifi, audiophilia, build my own loudspeakers etc. , enjoy high performance cars and driving, PC tech, linux related development (I'm a kernel dev), bitcoin development, fine food and wine and all other forms of alcohol too (might start a distillery soon), beaches, skiing, touring Japan and eating its delicacies and experiencing its everything else, reading fantasy and scifi (not much these days), the environment and walking, movies and more... Half of that stuff I do with my wife and/or kids too. Used to do lots of other stuff too like scuba diving but you grow out of things and think fondly of them but have no desire to do them any more.

New Game? I didn't find it quite as good as shirobako but it was still an all (cute) girls cast working on games.

Dropped shoujo shuumatsu. It was too boring. Dropped shobitch. At no stage did I find its childish puerile humour funny. That sort of material can be funny, but it was not in this. I'm loving net-juu, it's turning into a lovely romance. The rest is status quo.

I thoroughly enjoyed it though I watched a fansub initially and then moved onto the official subs later. I don't recall which was better, they were just 'different'. Season 3 definitely moved better than season 2. It's great stuff. It's my wife's favourite romcom too.

World's greatest anime ever made, period. I rewatch it twice a year and never get sick of it. I still laugh and cry at the same places every time. Brilliant stuff.

I've seen the same picture on the left with the characters from Ore Monogatari on the right. I much preferred that and would have given it a <3, but this... no. -
Hi and welcome to the forum too! I had opened a new thread after it was released here but that's ok: As for your spoiler complaints, you are not alone, I agree with you (I'm the project translator.) As for Yuma, I agree, she was my 2nd favourite heroine so I agree with you. I love tsunderes but I only love classic tsunderes and I love them much more if there's a logical reason for them being tsun in the first place. To that end, both tsundere characters in this meet that criteria (Yuma and Ruri.) Enjoy!

Are you watching houseki no kuni? It's worth a shot if you haven't.
-
No. Mio is a console addition only.

Dropped Dies Irae. Ho boy was that bad. I tried to watch it just because of the hype around the VN but this is clearly a woeful rendition. Kujira's not doing me any favours but it's hanging in there for now. The rest is status quo.
