Koichoco Info (Seiyuu and Other Review) and Discussion
Okarin replied to littleshogun's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Then it seems you're not cut for reading common eroge. I'm afraid Koichoco is a case of mixed bag: there are characters I despise (Non-chan, Chisato) and characters I really like (Isara, Morishita and maybe I'd add Mifuyu). A really hit-or-miss experience. Nothing wrong with that though. By the way Vorathiel, I'm really looking forward to playing Air summer 2018, since you give it a 6,5, it truly must be nice -
Koichoco Info (Seiyuu and Other Review) and Discussion

She's a tyrant. She decrees (like she was a queen) that Yuuki has to make 20 Oojima rolls in a day. All without batting her eye. This is not romance nor friendship, this is slavery. -
Well, Sachi at least has nice tits. I chose Sachi, but couldn't bring myself to finish the game. Probably my no. 1 hated character is that moron, Sepia. And I didn't even get to know his little secret. All 3 heroines are trash. Way lower even than Yume Miru Kusuri. This is a very low-key eroge with an allegedly deep story (no, it's trash), I can't see why it's so very loved. At least it pretty much influenced the RPGs Criminal Girls, those at least don't hide what they are and let you fondle the girls at will.

ZTD analytical rant/review .(Ver: 2) (spoilers and salt)
Okarin replied to bilguun alix's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Yeah, pretty much. The game disappointed me terribly, even though I still finished it and more or less enjoyed it. Its greatest contribution to my life was precisely the acknowledgement of the Anthropic Principle, that got me thinking. No matter how bad an Uchikoshi game is, you always learn some fun fact (like Pigmalion Effect in Ever 17). -
Yes, I have Konosora on my library, got it for 5 euros (reasonable price for a heavily butchered game, sweet achievements nonetheless). The last VN I bought was Steins;Gate, and before that, Harmonia, when it released, but they don't seem actually related to Shuffle. Maybe it depends on insignias? I have a level 3 insignia for The way we all go (I'll always praise this game), and level 1 for Harmonia. Edit: Probably the right word is "badge", instead of "insignia".

I have one discount ticket too, get it while it lasts!

Koichoco Info (Seiyuu and Other Review) and Discussion
Okarin replied to littleshogun's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I'm planning to eventually read her route. But given that in the common route she's a little piece of shit, I'm leaving her for last round probably. That's what happens when you behave like a moron: you're left out (life lesson, kids). I'd do that with any heroine whom I find dislikable, actually. Luckily, the trend is more girls like Isara, and less tsunderes "taken up to 11" like Chisato. But it can vary... -

I think they're mostly cosmetic, and aimed to the player, like Ariake's overtly dramatic pose on her sprite. I also wanted to say that Chisato is the most despicable heroine I've ever read or seen. A truly stupid and obnoxious girl. And I'm not even reading her route, which I skipped. -
The Japanese high school is the traditional setting for a VN. In this case, I'll be chalking down VNs that revolve around a certain club, a mainstay of Japanese high schools. Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm: "Flying circus" club, apparently a futuristic sport of sorts. CLANNAD: Drama Club. Crescendo: MC attends the literature club a bit, but this is very minor and doesn't affect the story much. Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai: Apparently an occult club of sorts, disguised as a literature club, or a library, what you will. Himawari: Space Club. Hoshizora no Memoria: Astronomy club, the "Tenkuru". Kira * Kira: "Dai ni bungeibu" or "(Second) Literature club". It's going to be abolished, so some members decide to gather a punk rock band, of all things. Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate: Cooking and sweets club, similar to Rihoko's one in Amagami, but more crowded. Kono Oozora ni Tsubasa wo Hirogete (If my heart had wings): "Soar club", a club where members build a fiberglass glider and pilot it. Miagete Goran, Yozora no Hoshi o: Lovely novel released in 2015, it features an astronomy club. Rewrite: Occult club, where the main characters meet, and it's loosely connected to the story. Sanoba Witch: Occult club. You can add your own novel!

Lovely piece you've got there. (Sarcasm alert)

Trolls try to trigger epileptic seizures - is it assault?
Okarin replied to sanahtlig's topic in General Discussion
Trolling? That is hate mail in a very tangible form. Only that it's more harmful than insults: "sticks and stones can break bones, words can't really hurt". Very creative way of spreading the hate and sabotaging a person you despise. And if it's unclear, I codemn this attitude. It's the ultimate ad hominem attack, exploiting a weakness of the other person (that's, of course, completely unrelated to his/her opinions and arguments). -
If I want to improve my social life, I go outside and just do it. In Barney Stinson's words, "when I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead". People disappoint me too much to really bring it to fruition. Yes, they disappoint me, like in Charlotte with Nao.

If talking about Sharin no Kuni, the is more than enough for me. I think you're talking about Grisaia though. Remember 11 is a mess. Nobody cares about the ending because the plot doesn't making frakking sense.

Now this is completely offtopic, but consumers have the most responsibility over what succeeds and what doesn't. After all, the companies sell what people buy. So, if you consider Sakura games are cancer, just don't come near them, lest they produce more and more and saturate the market. We are not gourmets though, and every one of us indulge sometimes in rather questionable products, quality-wise. Just keep them at a minimum, please?

We are talking Sonicomi here, right? If so, I didn't expect you to defend it. At all.

I'm 33, 34 in a couple of months, and playing VNs in earnest. Honestly there are somewhat WTF games like some Senran Kaguras and the like, where fanservice and client pandering are taken to the extreme. I don't really like that either. But some things are of private nature and since I'm not finding a lot of VN fans in my vicinity, I might as well not tell anyone what in the name of Bon Jovi I'm doing with my free time. Heck, it's my free time, no one really cares what I do with it nor would I divulgate it either. As an example, people don't really talk that much about their sexual relationships, except to boast, and then you are better off disbelieving them as it tends to be chaff. It's good to live in the West, since here we care about privacy, unlike in, you know, dictatorships and totalitarian regimes. Honestly, furry fans have it harsher.

I'll enter the figurine market...................... someday. Have a single figurine of Rin Natsume that, while cheap, is pretty cool. Just before I took a look at it and realised figurines are cool. Yes, my decision making is just that way... sometimes ^^U This Rin fig is part of the "Beach Queens" collection, you probably know what it is.

It will be amusing to see how much it is on Steam release. Also, has anyone played Sonicomi and if so, is it shit?
-
Only 6 hours? What in the name of Bon Jovi?

Key may make *elegant* moe, but it's moe nonetheless. As such, some girls and stories are pretty forgettable; but I really tend to like their heroines. You may hate what Key delivers, but you can't deny they *try* to bring quality content. At least, until Charlotte...

I'd like some info on Psycho Pass, there's a PS Vita copy sitting at a local store (but for the moment I'm not buying a Vita) and I've got it on my Steam wishlist. However going by your commentary, it seems that what you said is "Mages/5pb novels based on big names tend to be really bad, EXCEPT Psycho Pass". Please correct me if I am wrong. I liked the first PP show considerably, didn't want to watch second season because "Makishima is top villain and can't be topped", but a PP VN is a pretty nice idea. Also Akane.
-
If such an ending is shitty, then Steins;Gate's ending is terribly satisfying, thus granting it a place of honour in the VN world
-
I would call it the "Weis-Hickman effect". It's rare in visual novels. Another problem altogether is when a route in an eroge is completely predictable. Especially if you've read dozens of them. In some, you can pretty much tell what is the noose, the development and the denouément. Some, from the common route already. In other cases, shortly into the route. In that sense, Lucia Konohana's route did leave me baffled, but at least it did surprise me, completely.
