Go watch Lawrence Fishburne at the movie adaptation, it's great.

Easier said than done... probably half the JRPG developers want to do that too. That they actually do is a completely different matter. If I'm on the spot, Berseria tells a tale of vengeance and that's a pretty good story resource. Not exactly "Othello" material, but still.

It's Natsu no Kusari, people

Of course... they're just... regular workers? Think of what you'd do in their shoes. Like Uchikoshi, he got away from the KID disaster and ended up eventually at Spike Chunsoft, where he's been very comfortable, along with his Danganronpa pal, whatever his name is.

Hmmm... after work escapades??

Since nobody else is paying for my little twisted hobbies, I need to work in order to pay, at the very least, for the PC itself, its peripherals, that leaving aside the VNs and regular games that I pay for. And work does consume time. Besides, playing VNs all day is as boring as not playing anything at all.

Just think of a fast food menu or some other greasy food. Is it food? Yes. Is it nourishing? It is. Does it kill you? No, as long as you don't do it every day. But, every once in a while, you want one of these. People are like that. People generally aren't "gourmets", not in the things they eat, not in the entertainment they consume.

I don't think Euphoria is a nukige... it's a fetish-fueled eroge, to be sure, plus like has been said before, Clockup is a strange company. I also don't know how the story could continue. The main antagonist dies in the game itself. Pretty much everything is solved with the ending, so it's a "happily ever after" of sorts.

Well... I quite understand the motivation to clear the routes by yourself and see what happens when you make a series of choices. That way the novels tend to last more time. I have read some of them that way. But now I want to read as much novels as possible, and thus I need to cut time spent on each, so I just get a walkthrough, like in our fantastic Fuwa forums. For example, when I bought "The way we all go" (fantastic OELVN by Ebihime), I started clearing the endings by making choices myself. But with such a big choice tree, I needed to resort to a guide in order to clear all 21 endings. Doing so myself would have been rewarding, but exceptionally time-consuming, and some endings I might never achieve. The multiple ending thing is a very nice feature indeed. It's pure replayability.

I haven't played White Album, but if you want a decent romance VN, then you have Hoshizora no Memoria. It has quite a lot of supernatural elements though. It also can be described as a nakige, and an imitation of Key's works, where half of it is slice of life and then you arrive at the drama. The romance (and even H scenes, oh boy) is pretty good. The protag, while he didn't wholly satisfy me, isn't your typical hetare, he just has some issues that are deeply described. Also he has pretty good chemistry with most, if not all heroines. Also Crescendo, if you haven't played that, some routes in there are cookie-cutter stuff, some are just classics (my two favs: the nurse and Yuka).

So, most regular novels are crap? VN differ from the anime presentation because it's a different medium. No, in animes you don't see the protag thinking stupid thoughts, you just see them acting stupid. If that's too much of a problem then I suggest you skipped regular eroge, at the very least. With just 3 VNs under your belt (or that I assume) it's a very skewed view you've got there. Kanon is ancient, it's like the granddaddy of it all. Key has kept some cringey dialogues mixed in there between good drama and emotional scenes. Since they do pretty much slice of life, I have to say that idiocy is an inextricable part of everyday life. In that sense, idiot dialogues (and the antics of characters such as Sunohara from Clannad) are on the mark. A thing I noticed is that when you read proper VN, you almost always learn something, be it from the theme around the novel (gliders in Konosora, stars in astronomical novels, etc...) or just some tidbit of knowledge the characters reference. Is that a proof of bad writing? I don't think so. Also, most regular eroge have around 5 routes with different girls, and you have to keep in mind that they vary greatly in quality, if only because there tends to be different people writing them. So, in the same novel you can have utter crap next to something pretty good. If the overarching theme is crap then you have it rough. But they cleverly set up interesting overall themes (if not nobody would read a given novel as there's hundreds to choose from), even though you might have to endure some crap route from time to time.

The rest I have played by Akabei Soft didn't really impress me, so why should I pick Grisaia? I have a full list of 50+ games waiting to be played. Edit: I meant this writer, not Akabei Soft. Wasn't he the same that wrote Sharin no Kuni? -
@Kurisu-Chan looks like this might be interesting to you.

I haven't read Grisaia but I'm not in the least thrilled by it. The first anime episode is the worst I've seen in my lifetime. Just saying. -
The world needs Okabes.

Bought it, I hope I don't make too many facepalms when eventually I read it.

I'd consider it if it doesn't have stats. I'm unsure what "relationship system" entails. Edit: Indeed it seems there are stats. -
I could waste some money on monitors and general hardware, but instead I'm a big proponent of low-end. Some gadgets have a nasty way of getting FUBAR some time after the warranty expires, and it drives me mad. With low-end it's not as much of a hassle as with expensive toys. For example, my Spanish-made tablet (is that why?) has a failing wifi antenna and it hasn't even 3 years. The 2-year warranty expired last September. The tablet costed less than 200 euros so that makes it low- or middle-end, but it's still infuriating. Likewise my monitor was around 100-something euros, an Asus, it's perfectly fine but sometimes the picture resets (it shows the "HDMI" indication as if it was resetting), for example when a nearby home fridge spews some noise (I mean electrical noise, we could even call it industrial), and I'm not entirely sure if my motherboard, monitor or even APU are faulty, it will get worse in the future, but in the meantime it's enjoy time. Unlike the tablet, the PC is in warranty until October I think. Anyway, things don't last forever, not even stars. What I'm trying to say is that you don't have to spend much to have a fine piece of hardware, there are cheaper monitors than 200-something euros. But, it's your choice entirely, you could go middle-end and it probably will have better performance or durability. From company to company fabrication process varies. Some put more emphasis in durability (Nintendo is known for building very hardy and durable systems).

I put the point of no return in having sex with Komari. Kud is beyond that. I mean, she isn't even 16 (genius girl who skipped grades and whatnot).

999 and VLR will be released shortly on Steam in a single package called "The Nonary games". I'm always surprised that Uchikoshi doesn't get here on Fuwa the credit he deserves, only a handful of people have played his games. Still, not your typical novels. I feel the closest to Zero Escape (slightly to Evangelion) is the manga 20th Century Boys. Sans time travel (or did it have it?), but with psychic powers. Evangelion is a one of a kind work. It has a very unique feel, because it's a very unique mix of things, all done with quality and seriousness. Sadly when I played Girlfriend of Steel, it focused on the goofy aspects of the show (Shinji finally gets a girlfriend, etc...). Also a dark novel is Euphoria, but if has lots of torture and shocking H scenes. The modern-day Evangelion could very well be Puella Magi Madoka Magica (you probably have checked that). It starts slower than Evangelion but the twists hit hard. It's epicness. Uchikoshi, Urasawa and Urobuchi (the U-team) are all very good creators.

You'll get more from your monitor if you play other kinds of games. There are a bunch of novels than can be put full screen. Right now Clannad comes to mind, the Steam version launches by default full screen, and I've got a 1080p monitor. Needless to say that this is nice.

For a moment I forgot there's a Steam mentor that lists all games with flat characters Note: I'd still play Kud Wafter.
