Is Little buster CE and Little buster PE is same?
Okarin replied to Yui's topic in Visual Novel Talk
As far as I understand, it should be the regular Little Busters, plus the extra routes (Futaki, Saya and Sasasegawa, I think). But minus the H scenes (that's called Ecstasy) -
Well, I would say that the foremost criterion to buy a new console, PC or whatever platform is what said platform gives me in terms of playability and how good its library is. For us geeks Vita is perfect, but for lots of gamers out there, it just isn't. There are a lot of gamers who have never played even a Fire Emblem, would they be suddenly interested in Hyperdimension games? (for example) I think not. People would gladly pay those pesky memory cards if the Vita had a library oriented towards a wider audience. Like that, it's just two things it has against it.
-
I also said it in past tense, as there was a time when even the present of Vita was dubious, but now it's not. It's a niche console, but not dead. That's not to say it's a foremost option for lots of gamers, including those who love JRPG and VNs.

"Staunch" doesn't mean automatically close-minded in a negative way. Staunch opposition to poverty or AIDS can be great.
-
Exactly what's the point? Of course if the Vita owners received shit or games that didn't interest them, they would toss the console right in the trash bin. Originally, the Vita was supposed to be a reduced, portable version of PS4... until Sony withdrew their support: no more Uncharteds, no more blockbusters... Compare with PSP please. The Vita is in its current state because it benefits everybody: Sony can still chalk down another sale from the occasional buyer, and the third parties sell their games with no problem, as the sales for Root Letter in this thread indicate.
-
Yes, the Vita owners are a staunch group that refused to think that the console was dead, and soldier on supporting the platform. Sad that Sony left them naked, at least the third party developers still brew games for the Vita regularly.

Liberalism/Existentialism/Human Secularism/Anarchism VNs?
Okarin replied to Khazit's topic in Recommendations
Steins;Gate in particular deals with, what would happen if someone could reshape the past (and thus the present) and the temptations of such power- both represented in the antagonists and the protagonist. -
Well, the PS4 has a way vaster potential market, as there's a big fleet of PS4s out there, it's the leading console of the generation in sales. Of course, most PS4 users limit themselves to FIFAs and Call of Dutys, and another big portion of the market bother themselves with more traditional games (such as JPRG, even), VNs are still a niche market even when they have become more readily available. I see some indication that people believe Root Letter was bad... and I wonder why. I haven't played it though, but the premise sounded good enough. I saw an article about PC ports that said that porting a game such as a Hyperdimension, Tales of, Valkyria Chronicles, etc, (note that these aren't VNs) could easily go into the 100,000s, but that is also due to the reduced prices of Steam and the convenience (some games can't be found anywhere now). Anyway, that means that there's a potential market out there. Another question is if those people bother buying the games as they are. Or buying a PS Vita or PS4, for that matter. I only know that the VNs I own on Steam have more expensive stickers, and that is due to less stickers in the market -> less people that owns the games -> less sales -> more price.

I don't know, supposedly every character has an ending sequence, and you have to unlock them. There's a gimmick: if you do certain things you achieve max influence with all characters. It's not exactly Harvest Moon/Rune Factory material, here the story has a major focus.

Berseria is now among us. The game looks fine enough, but it has been said that it trashes the CPU. On the other hand, the GPU is almost left untouched. This could be due to Denuvo, but some games have been known to use Denuvo on their first month (to drive away the pirates, allegedly) and not later. In that sense it's probably worth considering getting it on Summer or Winter sale, this same year. Also Denuvo CAN'T destroy your drive, for example. It can trash your SSD, because of the sheer number of inputs and outputs (read and write operations), but if you know it you have a big advantage. It can make you squander your computer's resources and quite a lot of electricity, but should it damage your rig, it would be illegal.

Now, this is a very unknown game, and it's truly good. Great production values, strategic gameplay, and a nice story about saving the world, no innovation here, but a lot of quality. I haven't finished it yet but for now it's just purrfect (right Sigma?). Also, Hilda is like the purrfect waifu! DFC and all! The pity is that the game has been almost a year in the market and probably now you won't find it easily, also it has fallen prey to speculators and its price has risen on sites like Ebay. http://www.gamefaqs.com/3ds/865514-stella-glow

Visual novels with a mostly adult-looking cast
Okarin replied to Funyarinpa's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I'm negative about it, because, even a deep and complicated (and convoluted...) story like Remember 11 had fanservice. Minor fanservice, granted, but it was there. -
1) Nothing wrong with having different likes from other people. Don't get too carried away with what other people say. 2) I dislike messed-up people IRL, I dislike messed-up heroines. Maybe it's my fault for equating virtual people to real ones. But can't help thinking that way. Even though they are not real, any heroine is written to resemble a real person. I can understand some tweaking of real life conditions in order to make a big happy end or something like that, but even so I think that there's a limit to how unrealistic you can be. I say "I dislike messed-up heroines", but probably it's wrong: their portrayal and the prose used matter. I got through the entirety of Little Busters and their problems were even more over the top. But somehow it all had a nice ring to it.

I like the "mostly" detail. Because, even in Zero Escape, there's space for lewd jokes... -

Okarin replied to Nuka's topic in Recommendations
Hoshizora no Memoria. Don't know if you've read that, but it's long, has strong cast, it's ambitious, and the art... depends from person to person, I liked it a lot, don't know about you. -
Was that where you banged Sachi's sister...?

Koichoco Info (Seiyuu and Other Review) and Discussion
Okarin replied to littleshogun's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Why all the aggressiveness? In the end, Chisato's antics are completely intolerable in a real person, and just okay in a virtual character. My bad for thinking of her like I'd think of a real girl -she isn't. And yes, Morishita is too a pretty caricaturesque character, I don't think there are real girls like her. I think it's stupid to bash other people's heroine rankings. There's a reason why there are 5 girls in the game with routes, and not just Chisato. Eroge makers try to appeal to a wide audience and so include different girls with different tropes, it's absurd to tell off other people for liking a given girl and dislike others. -
Well, I advise you to disbelieve the pig/human hybrid. The future is... artificial waifus Edit: post 666! \m/

Koichoco Info (Seiyuu and Other Review) and Discussion
Okarin replied to littleshogun's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Hey, chill down a bit down there. Chisato IS a tsundere taken up to 11. Oojima IS a good-for-nothing guy, but since I haven't even finished one route yet, I know nothing about his character development (existant or nonexistant, as it might be). It's true that at the beginning he sucks. Sharin no Kuni's protag, whatever his name is (wasn't it something generic like Yuuji or whatever?), is a strange one. Apparently capable, but with a masochistic streak and some dabbling into sadism as well. And really... the heroines in Sharin really drag him down. They're more like nuisances, and still we're expected to feel for them. Sorry, but no. This protag might still be an asshole, but the heroines are even worse. Besides, the difference in setting between Sharin and Koichoco should be pretty telling of the whole thing. One is an authoritarian regime where the girls are supposed to be "reeducated", whereas Koichoco is your familiar high school setting. So, in one of them being a "tyrant" can be justified, in the other it's not. I do think you're comparing apples to oranges there.
