  1. By the way, I'd like to insert my 2 pence about Zero Escape: I think they are VN's(or more accurately, a VN/puzzle hybrid.). Their main focus is story, while the puzzles are not as important- proof: ***VIRTUE'S LAST REWARD TRUE ENDING SPOILER*** The story is delivered through VN-style narration, and has its unique art style(which is not exactly incredible...). Puzzles are there for gameplay and for the pacing they provide: to support, supplement and strengthen the story. Therefore, I think that ZE games are primarily VN, secondarily "escape the room"/puzzle and generally a VN/puzzle hybrid.
  2. S;G has my favorite alternate(non-true) endings. Every main heroine (except Moeka, not something I regretted, to be honest with you) has an alternate ending, and they are rather easy to reach. It's true that all are just alternate endings but they are all well-written and will make you feel something(in a good way). One of the alternate endings has by far the most tense and scary scene in the whole VN. You owe it to yourself to see all endings, really. Edit:
  3. Danganronpa 2's English localisation will be out this September. The limited edition can be bought from NIS America: It can be only bought from NIS America's online store: USA Store EU Store Note: The prices are 60 USD and 60 GBP, respectively. Obviously, if you live in EU(like me), unless you are on a level of despair, the price is unacceptable. Sigh, seems like I'll buy from Amazon, then.
  4. That's only if the government takes Islamic rules as a basis.
  5. Don't call it "Imagine City", that's incredibly generic. Otherwise, I am really interested but like Xypers said, if you do not restrict it there would be problems. E:G: The MC could just (for the lack of a better term) imagine-create "a machine that can create that book". Also, give at least the MC a personality- maybe this guy is a gang leader, maybe he is a big man in the black market, maybe he is in a cartel, or maybe he works for a company- give us the impression that s/he does not deal out this ability for free. Detail the society: maybe only some people have this "imagine-creating" ability, maybe your lifetime gets shorter if you use it, etc. We need a bigger atmosphere than what is presented. I really like the premise though! Good job!
  6. The ones I've seen are, in fact, more science-fiction'y than doujinshi, etc. and actually, while I do not really think they will hold up too well against their Japanese counterparts, I usually have hope for them. (Exogenesis comes to mind.)
  7. Indirectly, that game made me get a job (To play it, I need a Vita, for a Vita, I need money...) Same here, especially that
  8. Been pretty much this, since April or May. I'm at the last episode now though.
  9. Zero Escape series is not really "underrated" (Gamestop's 2012 Handheld GOTY is Virtue's Last Reward) but more like "under-appreciated". I think it should have selled more. (Ironically, it actually bombed in Japan, not the West.)
  10. I had heard that even in Japan gamers were not considered "normal" people. In this case, I cannot believe myself that VN's are so effective that they are a threat to Japan's future. Sounds like those "Video games cause violence!" nonsense to me: you can see the reasoning but thinking about it reveals that it is a weak point. No need to pay it much mind, I'd say.
  11. Danganronpa anime is considered to be rushed a lot. Maybe add a few episodes in between to add details and stuff.
  12. 3 words: Steam Summer Sale *goes to weep silently in front of the laptop*
  13. I like Zero Punctuation for unabashed mainstream game critique and it is about the only channel I watch regularly these days.
  14. 1) Portal 2 This game was a triumph. 2) Super Mario 3 (GBA remake) I practically grew up with this game. Best platformer ever made. 3) Insaniquarium Vastly underrated game, nobody knows it- check it out on Steam. (It's a fish breeding simulator with aliens and inflation involved.) 4) System Shock 2 Better story and gameplay than both mainstream series it spawned: Dead Space and Bioshock. 5) Bioshock Infinite Lame gameplay, but that story <3 6) Bioshock Would you kindly? 7) Terraria I was hooked to this game, and it deserves it. Binding Of Isaac This game has Zelda ripoff dungeons, unique art style and some of the best dark humor I have ever seen. 9) Dead Space 2 Overall a good horror game. Cheesy storyline, great gameplay. 10) Slyder Adventures Another game that only I know it seems, it's hard to buy it at a reliable website and FAR herder to pirate it. To explain it, you tilt the world around a circle character and avoid sinkholes, robots and the like. EDIT: If VN's were in here, Virtue's Last Reward would soar to the top and 999 would get a spot somewhere.
  15. Not a particular VN, but Ever17's Sora route is vastly underrated in my opinion.
  16. I heard that he was the main writer(not sure)...
  17. I have not had any "bad" experiences, but Remember11 was unfinished and disappointing. Umineko is really boring at times and quite confusing toward the episode endings, but it still is very good.
  18. It is not related in any way to ZE.
  19. You are not the first to think so my friend. However, Uchikoshi said somewhere, I think, that "the idea was not persuasive enough" or something along those lines. If we knew VLR's budget, we could've made an assumption. However, we don't.
  20. "... ... .. ....." -Every VN Protagonist Ever, Wherever And Whenever Umineko No Naku Koro Ni Chiru: Also, my favorites, the one(s) at my signature: Virtue's Last Reward Ever17 ***MEDIUM EVER17 SPOILERS***
  21. Just for the record: I am planning to buy a Vita, and when I do buy, I'll definitely replay VLR. Also I have seen many people do that, even people that actually had more than 5 copies of the game(those were huge exceptions of course). ZE fans indeed are hardcore. Edit: I actually quite like the idea, but the issue seems to be Japan. Are you sure this would make SC(short for Spike Chunsoft- a Japanese company) overlook the poor Japanese sales?
  22. Virtue's Last Reward is my favorite game of all time. I loved the character development, the twists, the story as a whole, the atmosphere(nowhere on par with 999 though.) and pretty much everything(except graphics). The characters were indeed less likable. However, 999 was not based on a game of betrayal which makes trusting people easier. Uchikoshi said that Japanese fans were disturbed by the amount of gore and horror in 999 so he weakened it in VLR. As for Sigma, I did not feel any disconnection nor a huge connection. One of the endings twists were so awesome that I actually laughed like a maniac as I placed the pieces together and everything started to make sense. Operation Bluebird is preparing a fanbook right now actually, so it is not all about "likes". If there were an option to vote with my wallet, I would. As for why it failed, I heard it was because Danganronpa was so overwhelmingly popular that many people did not even notice or care about ZE. (Heck, you can even understand DR is far more popular by comparing the amount of hentai it has on the internet.) Zero Escape 3 is the game I want to be made the most- Portal 3, Half Life 3 can wait.- and I hope to see the day that we see the announcement that ZE3 will be made.
  23. I think Morphogenetic Sorrow is sadder than Blue Bird Lamentation. The reason is:
