  1. They never said either of those two things you claim they said. In July, they said the translation was complete, but not editing or any other tasks. They never gave any sort of release estimate after that.
  2. Is this really worth rejoicing over? It seems to be of very limited usefulness and kinda a pain in the ass.
  3. I got used to skipping the animations. They're cool to see when you let the full line play out, but they aren't integral to the experience.
  4. Wait, did you make Ryechu edit a review that completely slams a VN he also edited? You're one cold motherfucker, bats.
  5. Moogy confirms that there will be no kickstarter, and KeroQ is doing this completely independently. As he puts it, this is likely the new trend. Frontwing went behind SP's back for ChiruChiru and will probably not work with anyone else on future projects, Key also went independent, and Conjueror was hired directly by an unnamed Japanese company for a project. I get the feeling that MangaGamer, JAST, and SP's market shares will start shrinking rather rapidly in the coming years.
  6. Hate to ruin the moment, but tags are user-assigned.
  7. I'm sure you guys will find it in your heart of hearts to forgive Winged Cloud for blurring reality just a little in their deviation from the historical and totally real Santa Claus.
  8. Pillars of Eternity isn't on the infinity engine but a whole new one coded from scratch for their project. Incidentally, Torment will use that same engine.
  9. >not reading Gahkthun Read Gahkthun.
  10. I have to say, the way you obsessively detail the voice actresses' experiences but only give the most basic character bio information is a little odd.
  11. And it's out! http://www.mangagamer.com/detail.php?goods_type=1&product_code=156 Playing it now. I guess this is one of those things where everyone is meant to be speaking english in-world but in-game the voice over is in Japanese and of course the translation is in english. It's kinda weird! This might have been the kind of story where a good english voiceover would have been appreciated. Can't wait until we get to Sora Nyl and everyone is speaking Japanese in New York City. edit: Incidentally, because of this quirk, the translation removes all semblances of honorifics and japanese titles, and localizes them when appropriate. In this case, I suppose honorifics would just be artifacts left over from the original language used and actually conflict with the setting and culture of the game world. I wonder if there are still people out there who would get up in arms over this. Oh yeah, and weirdly enough, the Japanese script uses a weird mix of american and japanese titles. "Mister JJ" is as it was originally written, but you'll still hear your fair share of senpais and other japanese forms of address. I'm probably the only one who finds this kind of thing interesting.
  12. Unlike previous Steam sales, they've abandoned the daily and flash sale systems and everything that will be on sale is currently on sale, and the prices are as low as they're going. So if you see something you want on sale, you may as well get it. And if something on your wishlist isn't discounted, it won't be for the entire duration.
  13. If you like environmental puzzle games such as Portal, The Talos Principle is super good. The puzzles are all really good and engaging. It starts out simple enough but quickly gets devious, especially if you want to unlock all of the bonus content. The story was written by the writer behind The Swapper and is really interesting and surprisingly thought-provoking at times, incorporating apocalyptic elements with some typical but well-executed android self-awareness stuff. It's just a cool, low-key way to point laser beams at things and chat with computer terminals about the nature of sentience. edit: Oh yeah, and it's also good if you enjoy exploration in games. The environments are all beautiful and surprisingly large, and have a TON of secret stuff to find, some that offer unlocked bonus levels and that kind of thing, and others that are just there. edit 2: Fuuuuuck I want to play this game again! It's so good.
  14. If you simply have an unlocked framerate, the framerate can exceed 60 which will cause screen tearing on most 60hz displays. You can either lock the framerate at 60, or use v-sync. Most people will use v-sync which gets rid of the tearing completely while still maintaining smooth frame rates.
  15. "Something is happening on the 28th." I'd put good money on that being the kickstarter start date. I may be jumping the gun a little here, but this is the only "surprise" from Sekai Project that feels realistic right now.
  16. This is more due to Japanese developers having the tendency of coding systems that rely on specific frame timings, something western developers tend to avoid doing. So Japanese games lock themselves at 30FPS more often. An example of this is Dark Souls, whose physics are heavily dependent on the framerate, and unlocking it can cause issues like falling through the world when sliding down ladders.
  17. If you are capable of translating it by hand, then you know Japanese, but in that case you could have just read it in Japanese, right? I really don't get this.
  18. People are a bit more vocal about it now because cross-platform releases are so much more common nowadays, and there are companies that want to take shortcuts and release lazy, framerate and resolution-locked ports. I think outside of this, people are more chill about their sense of PC superiority than they used to be. In the late '90s and early 2000s, it was way worse than it is now, trust me on that. That was back when PC had a large number entire genres that consoles did not have, from first person shooters to strategy games. Nowadays, every platform has everything and there's not much to feel superior over, outside of the few stalwarts still clutching onto their keyboard and mouse. I also see fewer people bragging over case mods and that kind of thing. Now it's just people wanting high resolutions and framerates as options in games, which is entirely reasonable, to be perfectly honest. Maybe on shitholes like gamefaqs there are people deriding others for not playing at max graphical options but I see that in the internet at large a lot less than I used to.
  19. I'm tempted by Rocket League. I'm going to wait this one out a bit and see whether or not anything else in particular jumps out at me as something I should get.
  20. I can assure you that it's not just nowadays, but this sort of behavior has been around in earnest since the introduction of the Voodoo2 around 18 years ago.
  21. Just going to say that if your plan is to use translation software to translate it, like you used it to read it, you should probably save the effort and stop, the chances of people who actually know Japanese coming and translating this eventually are reasonably high.
  22. For frame rate I could go either way. For resolution, you absolutely need to hit my monitor resolution (currently 1680x1050). 3D games look like shit at low resolution, it's as simple as that. Especially if your monitor is of a higher resolution than the one the game is being run at. It will either end up looking like a pixelated or a blurry mess, depending on how heavy handed the filtering is. This isn't acceptable to me and I'll do whatever it takes to run games at my monitor's native resolution. Comparisons to games like Undertale aren't really valid. There's a difference between games that are designed for low resolutions and games that aren't and would objectively look way better at higher resolutions. Also, for PC games, 1080p has indeed been the standard for the last ten or so years. Failure to meet that standard if you're a 3D game should be met with scorn. Stuff like the reactions to the Dark Souls port were entirely justified. Luckily, it seems like most everyone got the message by now.
  23. Hmm. Yeah, what a mystery. Actually, we've been dealing with it, lol. I'm just saying that your ridiculous attitude when it comes to relationships is probably pretty incompatible with this VN. If you can't handle the protagonist not being totally domineering then you'll naturally have a problem with this one.
  24. I think your faux tough guy shtick is inherently incompatible with this VN. BTW, Yuma owns.
