I guess I'll try my luck~~

It wasn't until I went through this thread that I REALLY realized just how outnumbered I am in terms of gender... I mean, I obviously knew that this site was mainly male, but wow At any rate, here's a picture of me and my Komari plushie:

Agreed, I love looking at other people's collections. This is a fun thread, for sure.

I went back and forth on whether I wanted to do this or not, but... As a bonus, here's a picture of my collection. Because even though the picture above is my OFFICIAL entry, I can never resist showing pictures of all the manga I've accumulated over the years.

Pretty much everything I wanted to watch has started, so here are my thoughts so far: Yuri Kuma Arashi: Um, well, it was weird. Admittedly I had zero experience with Ikuhara as a director before starting this, so I had no idea what to expect. I'll give it a few more episodes (because yuri), but it's on pretty thin ice, and could be one of the first shows I drop this season. I guess ~symbolism~ just isn't my thing. Saenai Heroine no Sodate-Kata: It had some decent meta-commentary in the first episode, and I have a high tolerance for fanservice, so I enjoyed the first episode quite a bit. Plus I realized after I watched it that I had read a bit of the manga months ago and enjoyed it, so I'll definitely continue to follow this one. Kantai Collection: I know I'm ridiculously late getting into this whole Kancolle thing because I never felt like going to the huge amount of trouble it takes to get into the game, but even as someone who has zero knowledge on any of it, I kind of like it so far. It has a nice atmosphere, and the characters seem likable enough. Ansatsu Kyoushitsu: I actually bought the first volume of the manga for this about a week before it started airing, and that was enough to hype me up for it. So far it's within the content that was covered by that first volume, so it was fun seeing some of those scenes animated. It's been a long time since I had this much fun with a Shonen Jump show, and I'm really looking forward to following along with it every week. Death Parade: This actually went above and beyond my (already pretty high) expectations. Solid animation, great music, and a good dramatic atmosphere. This could be the anime of the season if it keeps up this level of quality. Koufuku Graffiti: It was cute, I guess, but with Kancolle I already have a decent slice-of-life show to follow, so if it doesn't step it up a bit in the next couple of episodes, it's right behind Yuri Kuma Arashi on the chopping block. I might check out Rolling Girls too, depending on people's thoughts, but between all this and Parasyte's continuation, I don't know if I really have room for it. Maybe if one of these ends up getting dropped.

Looks like it's time to finally play Mai's route. I needed to get that done anyways, so I'm in.

Happy new year to everyone here!

Considering how many games I've played simply because I happened to find their openings on Youtube, I would have to say I'm a fan of them. Even when there's spoilers, it can be interesting to see what leads up to them in the story, so it doesn't bother me that much.

Yeah, I'll buy the Steam version when I can, but for right now I just got the adult version from... other sources. Catgirls are my weakness tbh

Your school too, huh? I would have had to do this starting next year, but I'm graduating, thank god. I have to use them in classes so that they can "phase them in" or something, and there's nothing quite like 15 students raising their hands at once complaining that they can't access an important document.

Geez, I didn't realize how much had already been announced for the Spring season. It looks a lot better than winter did, that's for sure.
-
Oh God. The worst part is that I'm totally going to watch it. And then I'm going to hate myself for watching it before reading the VNs. I have to see this trainwreck through to the end.
-
Good to know I'm not alone on that one. Seriously.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Taichi is definitely one of the more perverted protagonists I've seen in VNs, and as far as I remember, while it's mostly played for comedy, there are a few moments where it gets a little creepy. But as people have said before me, it's more a part of his characterization than anything else.

As much as I want to say that Parasyte was my favorite anime of the season, I always end up naming Amagi Brilliant Park as my favorite, just because it was so fun. I'm about 4 episodes into Your Lie in April (I started it late so I could follow it through the winter season), but beyond good music and stunning visuals, I'm not really feeling it yet, to be perfectly honest. I'll keep watching it, though, because I could see it getting better, especially with the huge amount of praise it's been getting.

I started studying foreign languages when I was in first grade. I wanted to take French because of a book series I used to be obsessed with, but classes for it were too expensive at the time, so my parents signed me up for German classes instead. I only did those for a couple of years, though, and at this point, I can't remember a single thing I learned there. But first grade was also the year that my school started its mandatory Spanish classes, that lasted all the way until 8th grade. Despite going through 7 years of lessons, though, we really never got past what I eventually learned was Spanish 1. When I went onto high school, I had the option of either starting in French 1 or German 1, but decided to continue on in Spanish because I had the opportunity to jump directly into Spanish 2. I took Spanish classes through my Junior year, but quit for my senior year because the only class left was AP Spanish, and I didn't really care enough about the class (or get good enough grades in it) to go to that level. I still wouldn't consider myself anywhere near fluent after all that, though: I go to a school that's made up of about 50% Mexican Americans, so I'm exposed to conversational Spanish on a daily basis. And honestly, one of the things about language learning that both fascinates and frustrates me is the difference between what the textbooks teach you and what you actually hear in real life. I mean, by the time I left Spanish 4 I could read (with a lot of in-class assistance, to be fair) a novel written entirely in Spanish, but I couldn't figure out anything my classmates were saying. I guess that's an example of how language constantly evolves with the people who speak it, sure, but it does get a bit frustrating when nothing you're learning in class is very applicable in real life. Anyways, when I get to college next year, I plan to take at least a few Japanese classes, because even though I've picked up a bit from what I've been able study in my free time, I think that taking a class would help me focus more. I feel like one of the reasons I never really got good at speaking Spanish was because, to be blunt, I wasn't actually all that interested in learning it. But I'm hoping that I can stay motivated when I try learning Japanese. One of my goals is to learn Italian and travel to Italy somewhere down the line too, but I haven't even started looking into that yet, so it could be a while before that happens.

I remember having a REALLY hard time getting through the Muv Luv series, and being slightly disappointed at the end. Not to say that Alternative was bad, but I personally didn't think it was quite worth the buildup. Other people loved it though, so that might just be me. As for me, I'm probably about halfway through Minagi's route in Air, a VN I've wanted to read ever since I was an anime-only fan saying "there's a game for that!?" I forgot how adorable Misuzu was though, oh my god.
-
Well, this should be good. Hopefully it'll live up to the hype I'm already building for it. That girl in the image is pretty cute, too.

According to Sekai Project, it sounds like it's going to be a relatively short kinetic novel. My guess is that volume 1 is going to be focused on Chocola and Vanilla, and that later volumes will focus on the other heroines. I'd prefer it if they made one big game with branching plotlines, personally, but maybe that's a bit much to ask from a doujin maker's first game. http://sekaiproject.tumblr.com/post/105841472261/how-long-is-neko-para-and-how-many-routes-are

I really like short hair, and it has definitely affected my opinions of a character before. An anime example would be Tobiichi Origami from Date A Live. I doubt I would find her nearly as cute if I didn't have a thing for short hair. It also helps me form opinions of characters before watching an anime or reading a VN. When Clockup revealed the character designs for its upcoming game Eromanga, I instantly knew I was going to have to do the shorthaired girl's route first. A notable exception to this is when a character has long blonde twintails and different-colored eyes (like Shizuru from Rewrite), but otherwise the short hair rule stands.

So Angelic Howl is over now, and the anime went way, WAY further with it than I expected them to. They may have dropped the ball on every other route, but they really stepped it up when it came time for Amane's flashback. That's... good, I guess?

...This might just be my new favorite video.

That new episode of Amagi though... tears were shed. I do wish they had that as the final episode, though. I mean, I'm glad I get to watch one more new episode of Amagi and all, but having a filler episode after that kind of conclusion seems like a strange way of wrapping things up.
