Getting punished for what you say on the internet
suikashoujo replied to Mr Poltroon's topic in General Discussion
When I was in middle school, a kid got in pretty big trouble for talking on Facebook about how much they hated a certain teacher, I think to the point where they were wishing death on her. It didn't sound like they were very serious about it, but iirc they faced consequences from the school at the very least. I think there's a fine line between venting, which is probably not going to hurt anyone in the long run and may actually be somewhat healthy, and publicly threatening to do something to the person that's being talked about. Complaining about someone is fine, talking in graphic detail about wanting to murder them is reasonable cause for some sort of punishment, whether from the government or the school/workplace. -
I'm in the middle of replaying LB, but I'm taking my time with it, and just playing bits and pieces here and there. Little Busters is actually one of my all-time favorite VNs. That might be because I love Key's stuff, and LB is a great example of what to expect from them, but it had a pretty big impact on me when I first played it in 2012, and I'm sure it'll happen again when I get to the heroine routes. And I don't care what anyone says, Komari is best girl.

Definitely going to watch: Grisaia Selector Spread Wixoss Will at least check out: Daitoshokan Amagi Brilliant Park Ushimawareta Mirai wo Motomete Kiseijuu Going into it, this season looks far better than summer did for me. There are a few other shows where I'll wait for reviews to come out before I consider them, but this is my current list.

I'm guessing you mean "mind blowing" in terms of having a huge twist at the end that was hinted at, but you didn't see coming at all (since your examples included Ever17). In that case, I'll second two that have been brought up already, Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo, and Symphonic Rain.

Mangagamer polls VN fans about interest in Euphoria
suikashoujo replied to sanahtlig's topic in Visual Novel Talk
There is a gang rape scene involving Nemu, yes. But without spoiling too much, it's one of those scenes where you're actually meant to feel bad for her... even though she's been an awful character up until that point. It's there to prove a point about a certain character in that certain character's route. Although, depending on how much you dislike Nemu, it might not seem that negative. To each their own- if you don't like it, don't play it. I wish people wouldn't judge this game by its OVA since it really is quite good, but if the content was too hardcore for you, then the game probably still wouldn't be very enjoyable- even if there is more too it than the sex scenes. That said, I can't wait for the translation- I want to play it without a machine TL. And that's coming from someone who's normally a bit more on the vanilla side of things. It might not be the best game of all time, but it's a whole lot better than people give it credit for. I blame the OVA. -
What Video Games Are You Playing Right Now?
suikashoujo replied to solidbatman's topic in Gaming Talk
My friend decided to be absolutely amazing and lend me her copy of Persona 3 FES (I've only played P3P) so that I could finally play through The Answer. Oh, and I bought To The Moon on PC last night, so there's that. -

Brass Restoration. (http://vndb.org/v167) It's a free doujin game, and it was the second VN I ever played. It's not as impressive art-wise, but the story is actually really good. Lots of drama and humor.

Best Nukige you have ever played... (Plot-wise/Scene-Wise)
suikashoujo replied to Sparkker's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I feel like Euphoria is the easy answer here, but because there's a good plot that doesn't JUST revolve around sex, I personally don't consider it a nukige, and don't feel like it counts. (Not that I played that one for the ero anyways.) But other than that, I don't think I've ever made it all the way through an entire nukige, just because it takes me a whole lot longer to get through them, and I tend to drop them for something new. Out of all of those, I really enjoyed Eroge!, and I'm hoping to finish it after I FINALLY finish Boob Wars 2. -
Since people are counting DS adventure games, I can technically go back further than the games I mentioned here earlier: I'm pretty sure I played Hotel Dusk a year or 2 before downloading True Remembrance. I didn't know what it was back then, but to this day it's still one of my favorite games, VN or otherwise.

I've been waiting for this! I downloaded the trial as soon as it came out. Kara no Shoujo wasn't my favorite game by a long shot, but I'm interested in seeing more from IG.

Love how I came into this thread for the first time in a while and saw people talking about my favorite VN. I've actually been playing another AkabeiSoft2 game (Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo). I just finished Sachi's chapter today, and... wow, I'm already loving it. The pacing isn't quite as good as in G-Senjou, and the characters don't appeal to me as much, but it's still definitely enjoyable.

When do you consider that you finished a VN?
suikashoujo replied to Okami's topic in Visual Novel Talk
The endings are what's important to me, and that includes bad ends. But I don't go through and select every single choice- for example, Ever17 had a lot of choices that only affected a few lines of dialogue, and because I didn't feel like seeing every single one of those after finishing the true end, the game told me I hadn't gotten 100% completion, even though in my mind I had. -
Muv Luv Alternative- Questions About VN Structure
suikashoujo replied to Funyarinpa's topic in Visual Novel Talk
A lot of people I talk to on sites besides Fuwa absolutely adored it (and so did VNDB, apparently, going by the ratings), but it never did a whole lot for me. I spent more time waiting for it to be good than actually thinking it was good. There are probably some people out there who would fight me on that, but oh well. Anyways, the original question has already been answered- the choices are straightforward and pretty unimportant, so don't worry about them too much. -
Both are incredible games, so I would recommend playing them both at some point. But it really depends on what you want- Both have a funny, slice of life style common route, but Rewrite has more action, while Little Busters is pretty much a straight nakige, with a lot of drama after the common route.

I blame Euphoria for desensitizing me to a lot of the darker stuff that happens in VNs. I still don't seek it out, but I don't see it as something I need to avoid at all costs anymore. As for its effects on people IRL... I still consider myself to be pretty functional, even though I like darker hentai from time to time. I don;t feel any need to go out and reenact anything I see. So I'm in the camp that says that as long as it's being enjoyed by people who know how to separate reality from fiction, it's not a problem, and that anything that does happen doesn't rest just on the entertainment someone looks at in their free time.

Koe no Katachi | The Shape of Voice [Series / Anime in the Works]
suikashoujo replied to Tatsujin's topic in Anime/Manga Talk
I read a good amount of this a while ago, but I'm not caught up anymore (since I haven't been reading much manga lately). It was good, though. Definitely unlike anything I've read before. -
Anagram Trivia Month - One Final Farewell!
suikashoujo replied to OriginalRen's topic in Members' Lounge
I spent pretty much my entire Sunday afternoon working on this, and got all of them but number 7. That was the hardest one for me; I had to sleep on it, then do some extra work on Monday. So good luck, everyone, and don't give up yet~ -
Anagram Trivia Month - One Final Farewell!
suikashoujo replied to OriginalRen's topic in Members' Lounge
Another one, huh? Good thing I didn't have plans today. -
I had never heard of Mirai Moto before today, but looking at the VNDB, I'm probably going to end up checking it out. Daitoshokan is one I was already planning on trying, even though I'm not too familiar with the source VN. I've seen the key visuals for it though, and it looks like it could be hit or miss. And Grisaia is... well, it's Grisaia. Honestly, I'm just excited to see it animated- I'm not going into it with huge expectations, because that never ends well, but as long as it's not a TOTAL trainwreck, I'll consider it a success. I'm just really excited for this season in general, though- if any of these three fail, I have plenty of other series I want to try and keep up with. (Season 2 of WIXOSS, anyone? )

Which Visual Novels Would You Like To See Get Translated?
suikashoujo replied to Kimanor's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Until last month I would have said Euphoria, but obviously the wait is over on that one. I guess I would have to say the rest of the Grisaia trilogy (of course) and some more games from Alcot, my number one go-to for moege. (Although I guess that would come from JAST, since they released Osadai.) Clover Days is getting a fan TL, but they have some other games that look like pretty good moege. -
Adding to my to-play list. These just keep getting better.
