  1. Good choice Frankie, that's how you should go about reading tbh. I was like that before too; reading like 5 VNs at a time. I find that focusing on one makes the overall experience much more satisfying, as you are pulled into the VN in a lot more. (If that makes sense ... Things I say rarely does, but ... meh) PE does have a pretty fantastic cast, which makes it a really enjoyable read. S-Someone call the police!
  2. Yeah, upon reading my comment back, I realize that sounded a bit off. My main point was that, saying the game is not all ages might make someone think it actually does have the cut content, and that we were wrong all along. I didn't mean to question whether or not it actually does contain partial nudity or not, (as shown in the censored picture I linked; it does.) Sorry @Decay, seems my terrible wording caused a bit of a misunderstanding. I have edited my original post to reflect my actual intent.
  3. Probably not. I mean, there is nothing wrong with enjoying it in its current state. The issue is that, the version you are playing, (if you are playing the steam version,) is a heavily censored version of a nukige. The point of a nukige is its 18+ content, so having that removed kind of removes the point of the game. A lot of VN fans will therefore consider this version a rip off and pointless. But, that doesn't mean everyone has to agree. I'm sure you aren't completely alone in enjoying the censored version.
  4. EDIT: My previous comment was rather confusing. (I did not really understand what it meant myself.) My intention was though, that yes, it does indeed have partial nudity in the form of these censored CGs (one linked below), but saying that the game isn't all-ages after all might confuse someone into thinking the cut-content is indeed present in the game, and that we were wrong. That was what I was trying to get across, but it came out very awkwardly. Basically, yes, the game does have censored CGs, similar to how it was done in Nekopara, but all H-scenes are ripped out, and those scenes makes up a bulk of the game's content. (Which you can check by looking at the CGs for this game, and identifying the actual H ones, and the "normal" ones.) I did not mean to sound angry at anyone; I was merely quite angered at the fact that a nukige is released censored on steam in the first place, something that is just... ugh, so stupid. So incredibly stupid. Example of a censored CG:
  5. Fine, it's a censored nukige, rated +13 or whatever because you can see some lewd skin... Point is, it's still a censored nukige. You get more porn in an episode of To Love-ru compared to the thing the put on steam. Please don't confuse people into buying this censored monstrosity.
  6. Guess I'll hold off a little bit on buying the JP game, to see if they actually listen to their fans or not. They seem pretty responsive, and eager to get into TLing more games in the future so that's nice that least. For everyone interested in an 18+ patch, go ahead and send them a tweet or comment on the steam discussion to let them know.
  7. Just going to make a terrible translation of the full title of this VN, just to give you an idea of what kind of game this is: "Animal eared harem vacation - Indulge in making babies with carefree, fluffy, animal eared girls in the countryside." I mean, it is almost the same as what they named the English version. Almost.
  8. Yeah, hopefully a ton of these comes in. But based on the sales of things like Nekopara, a lot of people might quite simply not know that this has a Japanese boob version, and just happily buy the game with the cute anime characters. That's what I fear. And when the game sells like hell, the developers are like, "hell yeah! It worked!" If that does lead to more nukige from them being put on steam as all-ages versions, I'll just... guh I just... can't even. But hey, the game looks cute, so now I have another nukige added to my reading list at the very least. #The power of knowing Japanese. にゃははぁー
  9. A nukige. Censored. On steam. No 18+ release. ... ... Alright. I'm just gonna go over there to smash my face into my keyboard now, good day. (The worst part is, the steam crowd will jump at this like crazy, which might make the company think this was a good idea... sweet lord have mercy...)
  10. My opinion is that it is definitely worth a try. You will get a general feel for the game after the common route, and you can decide then whether or not you want to continue. ChaosRaven's little review above sums up how the game is pretty well tbh. It's a very nice little moege-like game, with some cool battle segments on the side, a fun and interesting cast with some pretty decent heroines. Worth a shot.
  11. If you liked the supportive cast, like Minato and Chiharu, you should definitely give the fandisk a try. I haven't played the grand route in that one yet, but the new heroine routes are very entertaining. (Chiyoda is just priceless.) Also, I think the grand route in the fandisk actually has a bit more meat to its story, (though don't quote me on that, as I have not yet had a chance to play that route, like I said.)
  12. Ah I see, cool. I'll check that out, at the very least. As for the porting, like the Muv luv translator said in the post I linked earlier, the H content was not just removed in the console port, but it was replaced with new filler content. (Similar to Grisaia.) Why they chose to work with this version to begin with, I don't know, but they did so there isn't much we can do there. But yeah, that is the reason porting work is required, since there is content there which technically takes up the space where the H content is supposed to be. The new, H patched version will either then remove this "new" content and restore the old H so the game is in its original state, or actually add in the H on the side of the new filler content, like with the fan patch made for Grisaia no Kajitsu a while back. Which one of these two they go for, I don't know, but either way, it's taking some time. (Though the amount of time really is quite extensive.) If you want to ask them more in detail, you can try their forum or their official twitter.
  13. Thanks, I appriciate it. Certain threads, like this one, where the OP clearly has not played the game in question, does warrant the use of spoilers if you ask me. (And on that note, so does the post you linked from me as well, so I'll edit that once I'm home.) I was not trying to sound like I was sitting on a high horse criticizing you, thinking you were the only one in the wrong, (sorry if it seemed like I was); I quite simply did not want to get spoiled. This is like Vorathiel pointed out, a thread that was made by someone who clearly has not played the games at all, so discussing said game in the thread in itself might be a bit out of place, at least if it's outside spoiler tags.
  14. Welcome to the forum
  15. I think it is better that way, even when it is something minor. It might seem totally trivial to someone who has experienced the game already, but yes, there are people who want to go into a new experience completely unspoiled. Seeing that a character wears a uniform on a cover, and hearing information about what they are and how they are used in the game is two very different things. Please just use spoilers, even for minor things if you feel like discussing the game is needed in this thread. Just to be safe and to not upset anyone, I think that is the best way to go about it. There is no reason for a discussion about the game in this thread to begin with anyways. I appriciate the information and your view on the content in the first game and alternative though.
  16. That's fine, but keep in mind this is not a discussion thread about the game at all. There is a bit of a difference there. I would prefer to experience the games without knowing this and that about what is coming. Using a spoiler tag takes two seconds, so although you might not deem it necessary, it does just ensure that no one gets upset from what they deem spoilery.
  17. ^ Please do, even small stuff. Remember this is a thread made by someone who hasn't played the games.
  18. This thread just turned into a minefield... Please don't accidentally click the spoilers Derg
  19. Actually, the translator who worked on the game gave an answer to this before on Fuwanovel. (I did indeed question why it was taking so long in the past.) The fact that this porting took sooo looong is a bit strange, but I have no idea how these things works, so I'll just take their word and believe that it takes that long to do this kind of work. Let's not give anyone any more earfuls. I was debating whether or not I should just read the entire games in Japanese, but I have chosen not to do that, as I prefer to read English when that is an option. (Even at my current level, reading Japanese simply takes longer than English, as I have spoken English since I was 9 years old.) As far as the rest there, I'd probably not want to invest that much time into reading something that is merely a prelude to a game I don't know if I will enjoy yet or not. Thanks for the tip though, I'll look into some of it at least. Thanks for the comparison! I do prefer non literal translations, but I am fine with anything as long as it's comprehensible.
  20. Ah, I see what you mean. Sadly, I still doubt less content will make for such a gigantic difference, that several months will be cut down a great deal. (One can hope though.) It will most likely still take an undesirable amount of time waiting for the patch, so if there is a decent amount of hype for from me after playing the first one, I'll go crazy.
  21. It took them 4 months to release the patch for the first game, after the censored version was released. Alternative is not even out yet in censored format, so if the porting will take as long as with the first game, it will take quite some time. (Which is the reason I'm asking these questions.) As far as what content and how much content the original adds to the censored version; that is irrelevant. To me it matters a great deal, and so I have on interest in reading parts of the censored game first.
  22. Do you have an example or two of exactly what kind of "bad" we're dealing with? Is it like, grammatical errors, or at the level where the English doesn't even make any sense? Also, do you mean that alternative had a better TL overall, or just that you can't comment on that one since there isn't a new TL to compare it to yet? (My plan is to buy the first game, but then possibly just go for the fan TL for alternative, seeing as that probably won't be out for a long, long time uncensored.)
  23. Really living up to your name there.
  24. So, with the 18+ content patch finally around the corner, I can soon start playing this VN series. But, seeing as it took them a good 4 months just to release the patch for the first game, I'm seriously debating just going into the fan translated version of alternative after, seeing as that will most likely not be out uncut until like, mid 2017 or later. That's why I'm making this thread. I have 2 questions: 1) For the people who has played the new translation and the old one, how big of a difference are we talking, TL quality wise in the new and the old fan TL version? 2) Does Muv Luv 1 end on a cliffhanger? If not, will I still be really hyped for alternative after finishing the first game with the way things are left? Thanks in advance.
